Youngkin our Chain?

Timothy Birdnow

Glenn Youngkin turns his back on his heritage and helps the Left desecrate the memory of perhaps the greatest Southerner in history.

Glenn Youngkin Just Made the Biggest Rino Misstep of his Career

Not sure what he thought he was going to accomplish with this; it won't win him any converts from either the white or black communities.

Lee was a titan. While I know little about Barbara Rose Johns, whose statue replaced Lee's, I can say this; the very fact I know little about Johns is proof her statue should not replace Robert E. Lee. She perhaps deserves more fame than she has, or not, but the point is we have to actually look her up to know anything about her. We don't have to do that with, say, Martin Luther King.

I wrote about this a long time ago at Canada Free Press. (If you ask me my essay was better than the essay of the Federalist writer, but what the hey...) At any rate the writer is not wrong; this is about ginning up violence in a revolutionary spirit by altering history to make America appear to be a criminal enterprise fromt he start and in dire need of being refounded as a socialist entity.

You can't refound a nation without first tearing it down, and that means the culture and history. Youngkin should understand that is what he is participating in doing.

I fear Mr. Youngkin will have no future in politics. He's is straddling the center stripe on the highway. As Mr. Miaggi said in The Karate Kid "straddle center line get squashed like grape". Mr. Youngkin is about to be pressed like a cheap Muscadine made by Manishevitz...

Norman Podhoretz RIP

T8imothy Birdnow

RIP Norman Podhoretz.

Norman Podhoretz, Literary Lion of Neoconservatism, Dies at 95…

Podhoretz was the Godfather of the neocon movement. Neocons are people with generally conservative economic views but liberal social policies. The usually hold strong interventionist military views as well, and much of the latter days of the Reagan and all of the Bush eras were dominated by neocons.

Podhoretz and the rest came out of the liberal Jewish tradition and while I did not always agree with them (being a paleocon) they did know how to win elections and were no small part of the revolution that slowed the rising tide of Leftism in America. We owe Podhoretz and the rest a debt of thanks for standing with us and helping to slow the juggernaut.

As I say, I didn't always agree with them. I think they were too free with other people's money and their social ideas were just a slower road to socialism. But one must take allies where one can find them and they were good allies, even if some neocons did in fact sabotage the America First movement.

At any rate Podhoretz is a man deserving of being honored and we honor him here. BTW the Aviary was listed on Podhoretz's website for a number of years in favorites, and I always thought Contentions (where he linked the Aviary) was an excellent, well thought out forum.

Podhoretz may not have been a perfect conservative but he was a great man, and a near perfect neocon. His influence probably saved the nation. Who could ask for a better eulogy than that?

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

First Brown then Red

Timothy Birdnow

Just what the HELL is going on at Brown University?

Incredible: "When college students tore down posters of kidnapped Israeli children in October 2023, parents asked: where did this come from? The answer lies in curriculum materials developed at Brown University. These materials reached approximately one million students annually… https://t.co/aTMTJqOKum
— William A. Jacobson (@wajacobson) December 17, 2025

And we know the shooting there appeared to target the leader of the college Republicans on campus.

Oh, and then there's this:

HOLY CRAP! A Providence, RI radio host just accused Brown University of TAKING DOWN security cameras in an effort to SHIELD illegal aliens

If this is true, this is a MONUMENTAL scandal.

This must be thoroughly investigated NOW! pic.twitter.com/kXyY51zDZF

— Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) December 18, 2025

Coincidence? I have a beautiful bridge for sale connecting Manhattan with Brooklyn and it's cheap too...

BTW Brown disconnected their CCTV system after receiving a letter from 34 human rights groups asking they do it to protect illegal aliens.

Brown is endeavoring to live up to it's coloring; it's become a hotbed of fascism.

A Communist Advises Trump

Timothy Birdnow

Yeah - Trump should listen to the free, unsolicited advise from an avowed Marxist Democrat in the media...

Van Jones Warns Trump Making Mistake By Calling Everything Fantastic

Actually I agree insofar as it makes Trump seem out of touch with Middle America. But if he doesn't toot his own horn who will? The media will give him zero credit for all the good coming out of his policies. And the economy is doing pretty well despite what the media is hyping to make it appear Trump is screwing up big time.

FTA:

CNN political commentator Van Jones said Wednesday that President Donald Trump risks alienating key voting blocs.

Trump spoke to the nation in a live, prime-time address from the White House, centering his remarks on economic conditions. During a panel on "The Source With Kaitlan Collins,” the host asked whether the president demonstrated empathy during his remarks.

"No, I just think it’s a mistake, and, listen, if he stays there, Democrats [are] gonna have a great year. He’s gonna have to move off of that because right now he just says everything’s fantastic,” Jones told Collins.

"If it’s not fantastic [then] blame Biden. That’s not gonna work. And I think the other thing I think it’s gonna be important for people to keep in mind, you have a bunch of young people who bet on Donald Trump,” Jones added. "They graduated off a cliff into an economy where there is no hope for them. He’s not talking to them.”

Jones said the disconnect risks turning early support into frustration

A valid point that last, but what Van Jones wants is Trump to start stepping back and going on the defensive - something that will not work for him and Van Jones knows it, which is why he's encouraging Trump to start handwringing and sniveling.

Such behavior would be an admission of inadequacy and Trump's appeal is his competence.

At any rate I would be reluctant to take the adivice of a bitter enemy. Naturally Trump won't but many in the GOP will and they are likely to start pushing back against Trump to "protect themselves". They forget Saul Alinsky's admonition "if you push a negative long and hard enough it can break through and become a positive". Democrats rarely make this mistake even though their whole program relies on fooling the public; Republicans always fail at this.

She's Still Stayin' Alive

Timothy Birdnow

BTW when I got home from the hospital on Saturday (they had wanted to keep me in longer but I protested) my sister-in-law had some quiet, old music playing on Youtube on the television. I left it on for a long time but then couldn't take what they were playing anymore (which was becoming increasingly obscure stuff) and switched. There was a concert by the Bee Gees from decades ago and Cathy always liked that (even if it wasn't my cup of tea) so I put it on. She passed away to the disco sounds of the brothers Gibb - the music of her youth.

Cathy always loved music - all music. She no doubt was waiting for a song to die by and chose one from the Bee Gees. She was sixteen in '76, so it was truly the music of her time.

Cathy didn't get to dance much for the last few DECADES because of her health, but I can imagine her boogieing down as she danced off to Heaven to the groove of the kings of Disco...

D.C. Police Cooked the Books

Timothy Birdnow

Yes, Trump was right and D.C. was cooking the books on crime.

A Congressional investigation, with the help of some high level whistle blowers, revealed:

The interim report states in part:

The interim report, drawn from transcribed interviews with the commanders of all seven D.C. patrol districts, as well as one former commander currently placed on suspended leave, reveals that Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Chief Pamela A. Smith pressured and at times directed commanders to manipulate crime data in order to maintain the appearance of low crime in the nation’s capital. The testimony from the commanders also describes an environment under Chief Smith marked by fear, intimidation, threats, and retaliation—conditions that contributed directly to declining morale and the loss of experienced officers and commanders.

In other words, Chief Smith pushed her subordinates to lie about how bad things in the District really were. No wonder she's resigning.

Increasingly the "conspiracy theories" are being proven right and vindicating claims made by President Trump.

Catherine (Dunsford) Birdnow RIP

Timothy Birdnow

My wife Cathy has passed away at the age of 64, at home with her husband.

Cathy was in her third bout of cancer and they had exhausted all treatment options for her, so she chose to accept hospice care. Once on hospice she deteriorated very quickly and passed last night (Saturday Dec. 13) at about 10:30 p.m.

I was sitting with her when she expired. She was no longer able to speak but was peaceful and comofortable. She passed with the gentlest of sighs and then breathed no more.

The fascinating thing was that I was in the hospital with congestive heart failure symptoms. I felt extremely bad the weekend ago last, and my brother in law - a physician, as well as the hospice nurse were horrified at my condition. They both insisted I go to the ER, where the doctors immediately admitted me and kept me for five straight days. I feared missing her passing but it would be a double funeral if I hadn't stayed for the course of my treatment. My sister-in-law kept telling me Cathy was sleeping and weak but fine, and I later came to find out she was telling me comforting tales. In fact Cathy was no longer drinking anything or eating and her urine was a horrible looking substance at this point, but she just kept going. The hospice nurse said she'd never seen anything like it.

So what was she waiting for? Me.

I got home about 3:30 Saturday afternoon and settled into a chair in her room for the night. Her breathing became faster and more shallow and I was concerned, but what could be done? I rather suspected where it was going. About ten o'clock I told Cathy I was going to bed in about an hour (being pretty wiped from the hospital) and she passed about half an hour later. It was like watching watching a leaf blow away in the breeze.

She waited for me to come home and then accelerated the time table so I could be with her when she passed from this veil of tears.

And tears there were many. She suffered terribly with her illnesses over the last few years, but especially over the last year where she was permanently bedridden. She had been handicapped before that, with a neurological disorder similar to Parkinson's (Fragile X Tremor Ataxia Syndrome) making walking difficult and caus‌ing tremors in her hands. She also had suffered from Oral Mandibular Dystonia, a horrible neurological disorder that forced her mouth open and led to a speech impediment (as well as a drool problem). The cherry on top of this particular excrement sundae was incontinence and anal leakage.

But the cancer was the real pain in the, well, it was right where she sat so it hurt terribly. Her oncologist told us it's perhaps the most painful cancer known. She was in her third bout of it.

She had been in a nursing facility where she was getting substandard care (at gold standard prices) and she fell out of her bed and broke her clavicle, giving her even more pain.

But she never complained and she never lashed out; she believed this was from God and she prayed for strength, not an easing. I truly believe she is a saint in the real sense of the word.

And I am also sure she stayed as long as she could to protect me. I once told her "I'll be o.k." and she immediately responded "no you won't". I suspect she believed that, which is why she made it her mission to watch over me as long as God allowed. And she wasn't wrong either; I wound up in the hospital with serious heart issues. I would add she had a nightmare while we were in the apartment and the caregiver woke me in the wee hours because she was panicking about me. She wouldn't tell me the details of the dream but she clearly feared the worst. I find it interesting that a few days later I would wind up in the hospital for almost a week after she had her nightmare.

At any rate I didn't want to talk about this but felt it incumbent upon me to write about it now. I owe all of you, dear readers, an explanation of what has been happening.

Over the next week we are going to have to pull a funeral together. Cathy's wish was to be cremated but she also wanted a Catholic burial, so that is what we are doing; cremating her and holding a formal funeral and burial service.

I just lost the love of my life, the woman I spent over half my lifetime with. I really find it hard to see how I'm going to carry on but soldier on we must. God doesn't give us a choice in the matter.

At any rate please pray for Cathy, who probably doesn't need any prayers, and for me and her family. We are all stricken with great grief at this moment.

It may be a bit before I can post again; my new, spiffy laptop is still not working and the old warhorse is in our old home, which I plan to return to after the funeral. But I'll be back to blogging in a week or two. Please be patient.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace - Amen.

Latest Report On Timothy

Dana Mathewson

I received a phone call from Tim on Thursday, telling me that he's been in the hospital for a few days. It seems that all the heavy work he'd done getting the "new digs" set up to live in had put a heavy strain on his heart and as a result he got hauled off to the ER, and then to the actual hospital. He sounded pretty good when he talked to me and was hoping to get "sprung" to get back home to take care of Cathy (she was being cared for by relatives and, I believe, the hospice nurses).

Cathy is still "hanging in," miraculously, but he says it is only a matter of time. He says she's basically not eating, and we all know what that means.

I'll keep you as up-to-date as I can, and I hope the news about Tim will be good, but I fear the news about Cathy will not be so good from here on in. However, unlike the MSM, it's my job to report the truth and I will do it to the best of my ability.

Prayers for Tim and Cathy are much appreciated, of course.

Unsafe at any Speed

Timothy Birdnow

Trump has overturned Biden's ridiculous CAFE standards in which American automakers had to produce fifty poiund vehicles to get the gas mileage required by the autopenidency.

Physics matters, and you cannot produce the kind of results Biden was demanding without making vehicles lighter, and hence less safe.

The inclusion of computers in cars had been a big leap forward in gas mileage and the left (at least the stupid left, not the plotting left) thought it proved gas mileage was just a matter of will. So, like the transgender movement, these lefties came to believe it was just a matter of telling automakers to do it and it would happen because it worked at one point, But the low-hanging fruit is all gone now and unless there is a major innovation that revolutionizes gas mileage as swith the precision coming from computerizing automobiles we have only the option of taking the weight off. Losing weight is good for fat Americans but not so good for fat Americans when it's the weight of their vehicles.

Biden was demanding 50 mpg - and that was doing nothing but driving up costs.

Bear in mind wha the automakers had to do was produce more electric vehicles and other vehicles people did not want. The CAFE standards are based on an average, not on individual models of cars. So if you build a gas guzzler you have to build a riceburner to balance it out. And lose money on them.

Thank GOD the autopen lost the last election!

Update on Tim's Wife

Timothy Birdnow

Dear readers,

I see Dana has updated you on my situation. Things have improved with my wife, but she's starting to slip again and the end could come at any time. Still, she rallied and had been talkative for a while this last week (we didn't expect her to make Thanksgiving) but her situation is still deteriorating.

Her feeding tube popped completely out; nobody had ever seen anything like it, according to the hospice nurse. No point reinserting it; that will just prolongue her suffering and would require a hospitalization to do it. So her nutrition is too low and it's just a matter of time. We are starting to see the signs, like her fingernails turning blue and the like.

At any rate, please pray for my dear Cathy. She is loved by all the caregivers, not just by her family, and it's going to be hard on all of us (but hardest on me, I fear). I cannot imagine life without her.

My new computer doesn't work so I'm back to using the old warhorse. I'll keep you all posted when time permits.

Benedict Warner

Timothy Birdnow

Isn't this essentially calling for a military coup against the Trump Administration?

”I think in many ways the uniformed military may help save us from this president and his lame people like Hegseth. Because I think that their commitment is to the constitution and obviously not to Trump.”

Virginia Democratic Senator Mark Warner

Uh, Senator, we have civilian control of the military for a reason. The Constitution is designed to put the People's choice for President in charge of our military precisely to avoid what you are popsing.

The President controls the military so it cannot become enslaved by Congress, which has the money to advance it's own interests with military power.

If Mark Warner fears Trump is becoming a tyrant (something he cannot prove but can merely make unsupportable allegations) it's HIS job, and the job of his fellows in Congress, to defund the Executive branch. But he knows he can't prove this and can't get enough Congressmen to support defunding the President, so he wants to convince the military to overthrow and disobey their commander in chief.

Warner would be the first one to call it treason if, say, Josh Hawley had called for a military coup against Joe the Autopen.

Latest news from Timothy, for December First

Dana Mathewson

I was very pleased to receive an upbeat phone call from Tim this afternoon. He's been unable to post anything on the Aviary because his new computer is hors de combat, with an unresponsive charger and a cursor that is nowhere to be found. He's planning to return it to the store and replace it with the brand I told him he should have gotten in the first place (since I am one of those guys who knows everything even when I don't, which is at least 50% of the time).

He was very happy to tell me that his wife seems to be doing better than expected. I won't go into lots of detail here, but will say that she is able to eat some food on her own. Those of you who are praying for her can be assured that your prayers are working! Please don't stop!

I will continue to update you as Tim provides me with news.

Cheers to all of you.

Update on Cathy

Dear readers,

My wife appeared to have reached the end as of the day before yesterday, and yesterday offered limited hope. But she has rallied and in fact she ate her Thanksgiving dinner, including turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, and gravy as well as a bun. Just nibbled what we hand fed her but she had something of an appetite! It's a temporary reprieve, of course, but it was still good to see. I snuck away to dump trash (missed trash day and so had to schlepp it to the homestead) and thought I'd take this moment to update you all.

My new laptop has had the cursor disappear, and also it's charger doesn't work. I'm going to take the one from my old computer and see if it works. Maybe. If so I can update you all with a big more frequency. If not I'll have to wait for cyber Monday to end to go for a new charger. Oh, and someone has to figure out how to get the cursor back (it was something I did, I'm sure.)

At any rate Cathy has that faraway look in her eye, like she is no longer seeing this world. It's heartbreaking to see her pass like this, but she's at least peaceful and we have her out of pain.

We are about to have a snowstorm and so I won't be back for a few days so this will probably be my last entry for a short bit. Please bear with me; I'll be back in the saddle in due course.

Thank you all for the prayers and concern. I am hanging in there but some days it's easier than others. Day before yesterday was a real bear.

God be with you all!

Not Long Now

Timothy Birdnow

Sorry but posting will be limited for a time yet. My new computer has lost her cursor and I don't know where to find it. Alas, I was not apparently meant to have high tech. Oh, and the power cord doesn't work either.

More importantly I have no time. My wife has been gravely ill, as you all are aware, and she was diagnosed as terminal a while back. I fear we are coming to the end soon. Her oxygen levels are dropping and she is coughing and making snoring sounds while awake.

Please pray for her.

She is the loveliest person, a woman both kind and sweet and even now she's worried more about me than herself.

I have a lot of stories to tell about this current situation, from not being able to get her pain meds to them sending the food to her recent accommodations at the Hades Hilton, to somebody hooking her feeding tube to her cath, which I caught before it did any REAL damage.

But I believe it's now time or will be soon. It makes me so very sad; like losing half of myself. I really don't see how I'll keep going without her.

At any rate I probably won't be posting for a couple of days yet. I'll keep Dana informed and hopefully he'll have time to update all of you.

God bless you all.

Latest News From Timothy

Dana Mathewson

Your faithful North-Central States editor is happy to report that although Timothy has been absent from these pages for a couple of days, it is for no more serious a problem than a computer glitch. I won't go into great specifics about it, but suffice to say that he's had to get a new computer, and as you may know, when that happens, all sorts of strange and wondrous things can happen. He phoned me tonight to chat about that (and other things) and said that the new computer worked fine for a couple of days and then the mouse cursor disappeared. Suffice to say that anything he tried was useless.

He and Cathy are settling in to their new apartment, along with a full-time nurse or two, and this means Cathy is getting considerably better care than she was at the "Halfway House from Hell" that she was previously incarcerated in. Tim didn't say whether he is cooking for the nurses, or they are cooking for him, or everyone is cooking for themselves. He didn't sound hungry, so I assume things are going well. There was a problem getting delivery of an essential medication for Cathy, which we aren't sure was due to the cut-over from the Halfway House, or the pharmacy running out due to the upcoming holiday, or the famous Birdnow bad luck, or what. I would certainly hope they get the problem cleared up by Tuesday.

I don't know when Tim's computer problems will be fixed, either. Meanwhile, I'll attempt to be your liaison between Tim and the world. I have to take my own wife on a little health journey to the Mayo Clinic on Wednesday, and maybe a follow-up on Friday -- nothing terribly serious, just diagnostics to try to finally nail down the source (and identity) of pesky lung infections that have put her in the hospital with pneumonia three times this year. Those trips will each take the better part of a day, but I should be back by the evening.

If any of you are traveling over the holiday, stay safe!

FBI - Trump Assassin Acted Alone

Timothy Birdnow

Balogna!

We know this kid walked around WITH A GUN ON HIS SHOULDER at the event. We know there was no effort to secure that building's rooftop. We know the building was owned by a major Democrat donor. We know he had a lot of money in overseas accounts.  This thing stinks to high heaven; it smells of a CIA black op.

And this stinks of a coverup by Patel and his group. Not sure why they are refusing to admit what we know but they are. I'm starting to think Patel and Bongino have gone native and are protecting the guilty "for the good of the country".

Democrats Broke

Timothy Birdnow

The Democrats are broke.

Apparently nobody believes they have anything to offer anymore. Don't believe these claims the public is turning back to the Democrats.

LMFAO! The DNC is so BROKE that they just took out a $15 million dollar loan - an unusually high amount with the 2026 election being nearly a whole YEAR away... ...while the RNC raised $15M in October ALONE and has a stunning $91M war chest!

The wind is at our backs folks; don't believe the lie that the tide is turning.

No King - Except Judges

Timothy Birdnow

The U.S Supreme Court has temporarily reinstated the Texas redistricting map after an activist judge issued an injunction based on racial bias but really because it hurts Democrats.

The fact is redistricting is a part of Federalism and it has always been understood it's a privilege of controlling the states. The Federal government was and is a creation of the states, not the other way around, and the power to redistrict is as democratic as it gets; it gives power to state legislatures, which in turn is elected by the People. Like national elections it is a state matter and this iteration of SCOTUS seems to understand that fact.

Nobody said it couldn't be done when Democrats were doing it.

The very fact that this judge tried to subvert democracy in this instance is proof it is they who are the kings, not us.

Grand Jury DID Indict Comey

Timothy Birdnow

Yes, the grand jury did indeed see and vote on the indictments of  James Comey.

From the article:

However, today, Halligan filed a "Government’s Notice Correcting the Record” that clarifies the handling of the indictment. "The official transcript of the September 25, 2025, proceedings before Magistrate Judge Vaala conclusively refutes that claim and establishes that the grand jury voted on – and true-billed – the two-count indictment,” according to the filing.
Transcript excerpt showing court dialogue confirming the grand jury's vote on a two-count indictment, highlighting the foreperson's affirmation.
The filing shows that the Court asked, "So you voted on the one that has the two counts?” to which the Foreperson responded, "Yes.”
The Foreperson went on to explain that:

"…the three counts should be just one count. It was the very first count that we did not agree on, and the Count Two and Three were then put in a different package, which we agreed on.”

The fact is this judge is looking for reasons to toss this. Justice doesn't matter.

And the court recognized this as the true bill;

The Court recognized that the "two-count true bill is the valid, operative indictment” after it was determined that the grand jury could agree on only two of the three counts presented.

It's clear the spirit of the proceedings was to indict but Comey's lawyers and this judge want to protect him with a  loophole.
