Monkey Business
Selwyn Duke
My latest.
Excerpt:
"They’re just doing the jobs
humans won’t do — or, at least, can’t easily do. But People for the
Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) isn’t happy and wants these
workers, Thailand’s coconut picking monkeys, booted from their jobs.
No, the issue isn’t that the monkeys serve a more useful purpose in
this world than PETA does. It’s that, claims the organization, they’re
abused. Thus is PETA encouraging retailers to discontinue merchandise
with ingredients derived from monkey labor, and it has already
convinced Costco to do just that.
Tim adds:
Now that's what I call monkey business! The SEIU may try to unionize them. Watch for them at the polling places on Tuesday.

Speaking of food, I splurged and went off my diet yesterday. Got takeout from a great Italian restaurant in the area. Hat ziti with spicy sausage and a bowl of lobster bisque. Cathy got pork chops (she wanted veal but they were out). A bottle of Picket Fences pinot washed it down nicely. We ate and watched Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist in honor of Halloween.

MoonRocks And SunRocks: What Are They And How To Smoke Them
MoonRocks and SunRocks are a special type of cannabis flower. Combining regular buds with oil and kief, these babies pack a big, potent punch.

How to smoke moon/sun rocks
What are the effects of moon/sun rocks?
Cannabis connoisseurs are always looking for newer, better ways to enjoy their favourite flower. Two of the latest experiments to help consumers get more out of their weed are MoonRocks and SunRocks - concentrate-covered bud designed to take you out of this atmosphere.
MOONROCKS
MoonRocks are something special. They are made by taking a regular cannabis flower, covering it with some kind of oil (usually BHO like wax) and coating it in a thick dusting of kief. Pack one of these in your pipe and you’ve got yourself a return ticket to the moon, literally.
SUNROCKS
SunRocks take things to another level. A SunRock is basically like MoonRock’s older, chain- smoking brother.
While their composition is nearly identical (a bud coated in concentrate and sprinkled with kief), SunRocks are typically made using higher-grade products. They are currently being produced by two main manufacturers in California, Big Tray Deee and Apollo Sun Rocks.
Both manufacturers take top-shelf buds (usually some kind of OG), dip them in a sticky layer of wax or similar concentrate, and then finish them off with a sprinkle of kief. Big Tray Deee’s Rocks usually feature a very thin layer of concentrate and kief, clocking in at about 80% THC. Apollo’s Rocks, however, typically boast a thicker layer of kief and roughly 60% THC.
HOW TO SMOKE MOON/SUN ROCKS
Smoking Moon or SunRocks is a little different from smoking regular flowers. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on these goodies, here are some tips to enjoy them properly.
Don’t grind them: A regular herb grinder will butcher these buds and likely struggle with their sticky texture. Instead, use your fingers or scissors to gently break them apart.
Use a pipe, bong, or bubbler: At 60-80% THC, you don’t need a lot of these Rocks to get you flying. Hence, it's best to use a pipe/bong with a small cone to avoid letting this stuff go to waste.
Mix it with some regular weed: take it and sprinkle into some regular weed.
WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF MOON/SUN ROCKS?
Moon and SunRocks produce very unique effects. Some users compare them to dabs due to their potency, but the highs are really quite different.
Dabs and concentrates typically produce a short burst of uplifting, clear-headed euphoria. Moon Rocks and SunRocks, on the other hand, produce a strong, long-lasting stone. They burn long and slow, with enduring effects after just a few hits/tokes. Expect subtle hints of clarity with uplifting euphoria.

The Folly of Facemasks
Timothy Birdnow
On Facebook E. Calvin Beismer posted about facemasking, and a reader took umbrage, leading to an argument that I think left the reader bleeding and shell-shocked as both myself and Cal took aim. I reproduce the discussion below:
Cal:
Can we start a new movement here? Make your profile picture that
expressive part of your countenance that the bosses are making you
cover up in protest against this encroachment of our liberty. Tsk tsk,
such a symbol, these masks, for repressing free speech!
Udo (the reader):
Maybe a fun thing to do...for some. But masks do not surpress your free
speech! Limit only your virus wandering off towards me and others.
Cal:
Speech isn't the point. Facial expression and all that communicates are
the point. Facial expression and personal relation are deeply
intertwined, and there are serious psychological consequences to the
constant hiding of face. All this is of course distinct from questions
about how effective any masks other than a properly fitted n95 are in
slowing the spread of the virus.
Tim:
And, masks are useless at stopping viruses Udo W. Middleman.https://www.infectioncontroltoday.com/view/cloth-masks-are-useless-against-covid-19 The openings in the weave are larger than the virus particles. Otherwise they wouldn't have to use spacesuits when treating Ebola patients. Also, most viruses enter through the eyes via the hands. If you have rubber gloves on it doesn't matter; the virus sits on the glove. And as Cal says, this isn't an issue about speech. I would like to point out the left pushes the idea of a "penumbra" in the Constitution which they used to justify abortion by saying there is an inherent right to privacy. If that is so, how much more of a right is it to walk around with nothing over your face? Why isn't THAT in the "penumbra"? The real issue here is how much power are we going to grant the government. Few tyrants began by saying "I'm going to take away your freedom because I want power". Rather, they whittle it down with good intentions and altruistic speech. YOU are perfectly free to wear a face covering, and stay inside if you wish. But you have no right to demand that of others. The authorities are demanding it because, like a bit in the horse's mouth, they know getting us to accept this will make us more amenable to accepting other restrictions on our liberty. Even Fauci scoffed at masks early on, calling them "talismans". He was right; it is a kind of sacrament, like air raid drills in Omaha during WWII, they serve no purpose but to make everyone feel a part of the movement and accept the will of the ruling class.

Neck and Neck
Timothy Birdnow
As of yesterday voters gave President Trump a 51% to 48% approval rating.
according to Rasmussen.
Also, as of yesterday, Rasmussen has
Biden up by 3 percent at 49 to 46%.
The race has, as we all knew it would, tightened up quite a bit over the last few weeks. I suspect even Rasmussen uses the same algorithms as the other pollers, meaning they are skewed in favor of Democrats. I think it entirely likely Mr. Trump may win this thing.
According to the article:
Trump earns 79% support among Republicans. Biden has 78% of the Democrat vote and a three-point lead among voters not affiliated with either major party.
The survey of 1,500 Likely Voters was conducted October 27-29, 2020 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 2.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
End excerpt.
So this is showing Biden up just outside of the margin of error. But the last polls showed it pretty much even, which leads me to believe this latest is an outlier. Trump has done nothing to lose support, nor Biden to gain any.
Everybody needs to wear gloves on Tuesday lest your fingers bleed from gnawing.

The War on the Poor
This from Stephen Heins:
"Climate alarmism doesn’t just waste trillions of dollars. It also harms the poor. In the developing world that means more people left in poverty.â€
Bjorn Lomborg
29.10.2020
Resistance and Challenges to Green Deals should not be underestimated
EASAC Perspective on Transformative Change
"Scientific knowledge of climate change and its drivers has been growing exponentially during the past decades, yet the degradation of nature and continued growth in greenhouse gas emissions has yet to even cease let alone start reversing. We have to ask if just trying to adjust ‘business as usual’ can safeguard our future on this planet†says Prof. Michael Norton, EASAC’s Environment Programme Director. EASAC’s new publication lays out the scale of the problems that face humanity to match human development with the capacity of the Earth and examines the calls for a fundamental transformation of our current economic and social systems across technological, economic and social domains.
Demand for energy and resources has been growing as a result of population growth and increased consumption to the point where all the scientific evidence shows we are bumping up against fundamental planetary boundaries on which our civilizations depend.
EASAC summarises this evidence with a focus on climate and biodiversity, describing what many international scientists have been thinking since the 1970s - that current unsustainable trajectories are built into our economic theories and our political reward systems. These fundamentals need to be reset so that long-term sustainability is built into our decision-making at all levels rather than just left to altruism at the fringes.
https://easac.eu/media-room/press-releases/details/resistance-and-challenges-to-green-deals-should-not-be-underestimated/
Tim replies:
"Sustainability" means no growth, which means an ever decreasing standard of living. It is as inevitable as the sun rising. Question; why did the Obama economy remains so sluggish? Answer; because they were pursuing a zero growth "sustainable" economic model. And when you have no growth (which hurts the poor most) you have a system that favors the power of the central government. It then becomes a matter of who decides who gets what. Government takes over the market in the interest of "fairness" and shepherding limited resources. In the end you wind up with globalization, socialism, and top down political power.

The News Cycle Truman Show
This from Russell Cook
"What Hunter Biden laptop?" / "Joe Biden is leading by double-digits in every poll." / "It's a mostly peaceful protest." / "Trump destroying NOAA."
Do you get the impression that rather than receiving real news, we're living increasingly in an unreality variation of "The Truman Show" movie, where we're constantly being fed coordinated scripted lines (e.g. the ones below appearing within 24 hours of each other) designed to move us all into one direction? It isn't just the Global Warming Show anymore, it's the Fake News Show, no matter which MSM channel you switch to.

Tim replies:
And since the news business moves from top down with wire services and mainstream publications taking the lead and with Journalism schools maleducating aspiring journalists who usually "want to make a difference" rather than inform the public we have even the local news channels promoting fake news to buttress the narrative. Also, advertisers have a powerful sway over news outlets. My brother writes for a local news publication and he has had good stories spiked because they might upset an advertiser. So the Left is better organized then we, and they demand their viewpoint be promoted or they will boycott, and the end result is an endless leftward pressure. We now live in the Gaslight Age.

Biden Left Americans in the Lurch
Anne Overit
Guessing game for you. WHO WAS THE SENATOR?
"In 1975, President Ford was left to manage the difficult ending of the Vietnam War. President Ford went to Congress for a relief package to allow American personnel and our allies to evacuate. However, there was ONE US SENATOR who opposed any such support.
The result was the embarrassing and hurried evacuation from the roof of the American embassy in Saigon. This senator reveled in the embarrassment and did everything he could to leverage it politically against Ford. Despite the efforts of this U.S .Senator--President Ford managed to rescue 1,500 South Vietnamese allies prior to the country’s fall.
Had President Ford not acted quickly, these people would have been targeted and slaughtered for their support for America. When they arrived in America, President Ford asked Congress for a package to assist these refugees integrate into American society. That SAME troublesome SENATOR TORPEDOED ANY SUPPORT for these shell shocked, anti communist, Americans and our helpers, refugees.
Instead, President Ford had to recruit Christian organizations to offer assistance on a voluntary basis. As he did so, the Senator belittled those efforts. What kind of person would oppose President Ford’s tireless work to do the right and humanitarian thing? Who would want to play politics with the well-being of innocent people who stood by America in the tragic Vietnam War?
THAT SENATOR WAS JOE BIDEN 😡

Electric Buses Failing Duluth Test Drive
Dana Mathewson
Those of you who live in Minnesota, such as yours truly, are probably aware that the city of Duluth, a busy shipping port on Lake Superior, is famous (infamous?) for rough winters. My wife's daughter and her partner spent a few years there while she headed up the opera program at the U of M-Duluth, and we visited her often. It's a popular town, beloved of those who live there, for the most part.
The town is also famous (infamous) for its hilly terrain. So it was a given that the town might serve as an ideal testing ground for electric commuter buses -- given that the Left is going to insist that all our vehicles be electric-powered eventually.
The following article, from John Hinderaker's American Experiment, indicates that there may be some problems.
Duluth was only too happy to serve as the testing grounds for an
Obama-era grant to prove that emissions-free electric busses were the
way to go in the era of global warming. It mattered not that the seven
vehicles manufactured by an east coast company called Proterra cost
almost twice as much as each of the 70 or so diesel busses already in
the city’s fleet.
But John Ramos of the Duluth Monitor reports it’s been an uphill battle from the start of service nearly two years ago for the new-age busses.
Two months after their unveiling, all seven buses were
pulled from service, because their braking systems were struggling on
Duluth’s hills, and a software problem was causing them to roll back
when accelerating uphill from a standstill. Technicians also determined
that Duluth’s cold weather was causing the bus heaters to drain the
batteries too rapidly, preventing them from completing a full shift.
Proterra technicians traveled to Duluth to make the necessary
repairs. To reduce the drain on the battery, they installed
diesel-powered heating systems on the buses. This upgrade allowed the
battery to be used strictly for locomotion—but also meant that the buses
were no longer emissions-free.
So the main selling point for getting onboard with electric busses in
the first place was gone within weeks of hitting the streets. The ride
hasn’t gotten any smoother with the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA)
recently confessing to the city council they dubbed one bus after a
demon-possessed car called Christine in a Stephen King horror story.
If a bus’s battery runs too low, and it loses power in
the field, it cannot be recharged and restarted on the spot. It must be
towed to the charging station at the garage.
"What’s the power of an electric bus like?†I asked. "Is there any difference from a diesel?â€
"In some cases, it doesn’t accelerate on a hill the same way a diesel
does,†[DTA general manager Phil] Pumphrey said, "—partially because
it’s only got one drive wheel. The diesels have two.â€
You get the picture. DTA officials consider it a good day when they
have the electric busses on the street in service now most of the time.
The rubber will hit the road, however, when it comes time to replace
them.
The rest of the article is found here:
https://www.americanexperiment.org/2020/10/electric-busses-failing-duluth-test-drive/?mc_cid=6572357c22&mc_eid=a372f7b117 I commend The American Experiment to you; the articles are always interesting, and you can subscribe to have them delivered to you via e-mail.
After posting this, I happened to recall the second winter I survived right here in the Twin Cities area, which was 1995-96. I worked in St. Paul and rode the bus about 18 miles every way to work and back. These were "standard" diesel commuter buses, a few years old, nothing fancy. That winter we experienced two weeks of straight minus 20 degree temperatures. And the heaters on those buses could barely make themselves felt. I shudder to think what it would have been like on electric buses.
I'm convinced that the limousine liberals who demand that (1) we abandon "fossil fuels" forever and transition totally to wind and solar-generated electricity, and at the same time transition to totally-electrical powered vehicles all live, work and think (if they actually DO think) in hot climates such as are found in California -- and never ever experience real winter.

Duluth is a wonderful city. Too bad they are as idiotic as so much of the other coastal areas.
I'm not surprised; it would be a terrible place for an electric bus. As hilly as San Francisco but much colder.

I do have to say that the new Hummer EV looks interesting. Maxes out at 1000 horsepower, 0-60 in 3 seconds, all four wheels turn to allow it to "crab walk." It must have a battery weighing several tons, but... I'm trying to visualize being in a vehicle going from 0-60mph in 3 seconds flat. Wow. It's coming in 2024. I may not last that long, and the USA might not either.

Biden Really Wants to Lose So the Supreme Ct. can "Elect" Him
Jack Kemp
PJ Media reports that:
On Wednesday, the Democratic nominee told
Philadelphia Gay News that President Donald Trump has given "hate†a "safe harbor†by
protecting religious freedom and enabling what Biden condemned as
"discrimination.â€
SECTION OMITTED
Throughout his interview, Biden condemned as "discrimination†the
idea that faith-based homeless shelters, adoption agencies, and other
charities would refuse to endorse same-sex marriage, transgender
identity, and experimental cross-sex drugs and surgeries. He acted as
though any desire to follow a traditional Christian, Jewish, or Muslim
view of sexuality and gender must be rank "discrimination.†This falls
in line with the radical pro-LGBT Equality Act, which Biden said he
would pass in his first 100 days, should Democrats win the Senate and
hold onto the House.
END OF QUOTE
Perhaps Biden still thinks Ruth Bader Ginsburg is still on the Supreme Court - along with some Justices who raise unicorns.
Another Biden attack on normalcy, complete with intolerance for mainstream Americans. I was thinking about what cartoon character Biden most resembles in behavior. The obvious choice is Captain "Wrong Way" Peachfuzz of the classic Rocky and Bullwinkle show. And Bullwinkle was a lot smarter than Biden.
I wonder what Biden's staff are thinking about this speech calling Christians and others "haters" for following the teachings of the Bible and other holy books. Either they, too, believe this approach is a winner for Biden - or they are wondering if their last paycheck will bounce or not.

Hopefully the math is okay cause dealing with numbers this small a misplaced decimal changes alot
40% of the deaths are from .5% of the population, that means 60% are from 99.5%.
This means there are about 120k deaths out of population pool of 190 million. So of that 0.00063157894 have died
Covid EXCLUSIVE deaths are only 6% ( no pre existing conditions.) This
means, that of that 99.5% 6% of .000063 yields a fatality rate of.
0.000003789473
Now lets look at new cases vs deaths using a 3 week
lag. We will use Johns Hopkins and a. 7 day running total On April 5.
The 7 day moving average was 31k with a. 20% positivity rate. 7 day
moving average deaths was 2.2 k. Which meant about a. 15 to positive to
death ration, much of it of course due to the blunders in the nursing
homes. I never blamed Cuomo, he didn’t know at the time as we did not
know what was going on for sure, So I cut him slack, But to say the way
he is acting now is disgusting. In any case 15 to 1
What is the
most recent. 3 week lag. 50k on Oct 8. Oct. 29 7 day running death
total 828 That’s a 60 to 1 ratio or 4 times less be it healthy or
unhealthy
.So lets predict what the total deaths will be in 3 weeks
and see if I am right. If we know that had a 7 day running total of 1.3
million and the death rate for about 315 million then that contributor
should be 1181.25 from that segment, But that is only 60% of the total
since we know the other part of the population ( high risk) is
contributing 40%. So we should see at current rates of tests vs
positives vs known death rates, close to. 2k deaths a week in 3 weeks
if this is truly a surge vs what has happened. If not, then it is still
a surge since deaths have increased, but relative to previous times, be
it because this has mutated, or we are getting better at stopping it
then it is much less. But you have to go digging in to see such things.
So the forecast is 2k a week in 3 weeks which by the way would bring us
back to what we were seeing in April! BUT WE COULD NOT TEST AS MUCH. So
it checks itself, if less, than we know we have rounded what is a huge
bend and admittedly can still drive off the road
Now here is
another factor, Churchill famously said socialism is shared misery, In
those societies there is a ruling elite the masses must obey, In my
gyms since May 8 NO COVID. None. Why? We are responsible as
individuals, I have weighed as much as. 223 in my life. I used to
compete at 175lbs ripped, You know what I weighed in at Oct 13 at
nationals? 151. Stupid me cut into the lightweights when I would have
won the middleweights. Oh well. But I know darn well the better care I
take of myself, the lower my weight the less the stress on my system to
tax my immune system, I can not help if other people wont cut weight or
whatever or be responsible enough to not hang out in places this can be
spread. But why should an individual busting their tail be forced to
the rules of people who are not? Shared misery. Its a giant exercise in
what is coming.
BTW summer did make a difference no question, If we
turned off all air conditioning and let it get into the 80s and 90s in
bars etc instead of keeping it at a prime Covid temperature of 68 in
all these building, I venture to say the surge when we opened up would
not have occurred, That would have been smart, but then again it would
mean we would have to put up with what those that came before us had as
a fact of life. Winter is coming, viruses love colder temps, immune
systems have to work harder etc. So it is having an effect
This is
my last Covid contribution, I am sick of it all, sorry for all that
have gotten sick and sad for those that have succumbed. It also makes
me sick to see people think they could have done better. Maybe they
could have, but a lot of the biggest mouths screaming at the POTUS were
ripping him for the other reason, Cuomo gave the infamous we are New
Yorkers we can handle this in early March, Easy to sit in the stands
Easy to say more testing now that we are testing close to 1.5 million
people a day and the vaccine is coming at record speed, Always easier
to say you could have done better.
God help us all.

Stealing America's Soul One Mask at a Time
Selwyn Duke
My latest.
Excerpt:
"Yet there’s a deeper issue, one almost never addressed: What does it profit a nation to gain the world but to lose its soul?
The most zealous mask imperialists want us to don a (too often) filthy
face burka even outdoors. Yet with interpersonal connection already
diminished in our screen-addictio
n
society where people are conjoined with electronic devices, does it
really behoove us to turn them into 'faceless' creatures whose
countenance is unreadable? Heck, just add some dark shades and we can
turn everyone into the invisible man."

My cardiologist is from South Africa (many years ago, but his degree is South African), which may explain why he is seeing patients in person. He was a bit shocked when I responded to his concern about a new irregularity in my EKG by saying that I didn’t really want to live much longer anyway.
I told him that I didn’t want to live through a civil war and that in any case I am a social creature and that,
"interacting with faceless zombies through a plexiglass barrier is just not doing it for me.â€
He was sympathetic, but insisted on doing a couple of tests anyway. He is such a nice guy that I went along with him. And, of course, there’s my wife to consider. For some reason, she likes having me around.

I rather suspect most Africans don't worry too much about this. In Africa they have real diseases that threaten their lives, Bill.
He has a point. I don't want to see what may be coming myself. We have to hang in their for our loved ones.

I'll say to Selwyn: we could all switch to shades, like you say, and start looking like the cops in a totalitarian state. Indeed, if the Left wins the upcoming election, we might want to do that so we could confuse the soon-to-be-organized storm troopers, as a matter of survival. We'll just have to get those aviator-type sunglasses.
Bill, I, too am frustrated at not being able to see facial expressions with all these dratted masks, but I find I'm paying much more attention to peoples' eyes; you can tell fairly well if a person is smiling by their eyes, once you get used to really looking at them.

Problem with your idea is Black Lives Matter might 86 you if you do that Dana. Maybe wear a hammer and sickle armband?

Well, Tim, I figure if we don't wear any armband, they have to guess where we're coming from, and that gives us time to react -- to whack their silly asses.
I reiterate: look at their eyes. In the supermarket, watch peoples' eyes. And be the first to smile at people. This will help us come out of this mess. If you're at the self-serve check-out machines, and you're ahead but somebody has fewer items than you have, make a point of urging them to go ahead of you (unless you are way behind schedule and have to get home to feed your dog and help your wife get supper ready). All this stuff is hard on all of us, but don't make it hard on anybody else.

The Silence of the Twits
This from Steven Chase:
Yesterday, the CEO's of Facebook, Twitter and Google were unable to
name a SINGLE LIBERAL ENTITY or individual that has been 'censored' by
them.
(actual exchange): "I just want to be clear, I’m just
asking you if you could name for me, one high-profile liberal person or
company who you have censored, I’m not asking for an exhaustive list,
I’m asking for a single example. Just one individual, one entity,†-
Senator Mike Lee said.
Silence from the Oligarchs. They could not.
Dorsey, Twitter CEO: "We don't censor; we take down tweets." ( is this
laughable?!) And this: "Twitter has been far and away the biggest
offender, labeling, fact-checking, and removing Trump’s tweets and the
tweets from his campaign accounts 64 times since the president’s
election,†the Media Research Center.

More proof that millennial Leftists are lacking in self-awareness
Dana Mathewson
One of the main Leftist politicians whom we love to hate has just painted another target on her back.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez solidified her position in the celebrity firmament by agreeing to an interview with Vanity Fair.
You know you’ve hit the celebrity big time when the
entertainment/fashion rag published by Conde Nast gives you the cover
and a full spread of worshipping copy to go with it.
AOC didn’t waste the opportunity or disappoint her radical drooling
hordes who think the world can be explained in 140 characters or less.
She lambasted Donald Trump and Wall Street for not paying taxes and not
agreeing to pay everyone’s college tuition for free.
And she did it while wearing a reported $14,000 in fancy designer
clothes. I guess if you make your fortune dressing the famous, you get
eaten last.
Fox News:
AOC lambasted Trump in the magazine interview
saying:"These are the same people saying that we can’t have
tuition-free public colleges because there’s no money,†she says, "when
these motherf*****s are only paying $750 a year in taxes.â€
She also defended herself as a powerful woman against right-wing attacks that have painted her as a socialist and a villain.
"It’s very dehumanizing in both ways, strangely, both the negative
and the positive,†the congresswoman said. "It’s not an accident that,
every cycle, the boogeyman of the Democrats is a woman,â€Ocasio-Cortez
said. "A couple of cycles ago, it was Pelosi. Then it was Hillary, and
now it’s me.â€
Poor little AOC — everyone always picking on her for being a
socialist loon. And she obviously doesn’t read the newspapers. Several
men have served as the right’s "boogeyman,†most recently Senator Bernie
Sanders. That AOC happens to be a woman is immaterial to the dangerous,
unbalanced, vengeful policies she supports.
But don’t tell her that. She’s on a roll.
"It’s legitimately hard being a first-generation woman . .
. and being working class, trying to navigate a professional
environment,†she said in the interview. "It continues to take me so
long to try to figure out how to look put-together without having a huge
designer closet.â€
I love the humblebrags. It takes sooooooo long to figure out what to
wear when the spotlight is going to be on her. If she’s so worried about
that, why not just wear jeans and tank top like she did when she was a
"working class†bartender?
She certainly wouldn’t have worn this to work.
Ocasio-Cortez wore a white suit by Aliétte to grace the
cover of the magazine, her outfit choice an homage to the women’s
suffrage movement.
Photographs dispersed throughout the magazine with her interview
include multiple outfit changes, including a polka dot Wales Bonner
dress and a black suit with multicolored tassels by Loewe. She also
sported a pair of black Christian Louboutin heels, iconic for their red
bottoms.
Who knew our little socialist could be such a clothes horse?
I might have said "clothes horse's ass" if I were feeling nasty, but as you know, here at the Aviary we try to stay above such stuff. Generally.

She's definitely a horses ass, clothes or no!
What a piece of work. Maybe if she spent more of her money on the poor and less on her wardrobe she'd understand the value of a dollar.

I know that it is random flavors that's sent with a Disposable Vape discount when everyone around me is getting great flavors. It feels like a conspiracy against me. I am sorry but I will no longer be ordering juice here.
Everything was great about this buying experience. The cost, the flavors of the e-juice, were terrific.

Experts Now Saying Don't Mail Your Ballot; Vote in Person
Dana Mathewson
From PJMedia:
The Democrats’ ploys to draw out the ballot-counting process have
largely failed across the country, so now, election and postal experts
are saying it’s already too late to mail your ballot. If you want your
vote to count, you need to vote in person.
It appears that about 10 percent of all first-class mail is being
delayed because of the massive volume of election mail. Despite
extraordinary measures by the USPS to get every ballot where it needs to
go to be counted, it won’t be enough to ensure that every single ballot
mailed before Election Day arrives in time to be counted.
This wouldn’t have been a problem if Democrats hadn’t terrified voters into thinking it was deadly to show up to vote in person.
Daily Caller:
"If you haven’t requested a mail ballot yet, it’s too
late,†David Becker, executive director of the Center for Election
Innovation & Research, told The Post. "I don’t care about the legal
deadline; it’s just too late in terms of getting it processed, getting
it mailed to you and you being able to fill it out and return it.â€
He added: "You’re just putting too much pressure on yourself. At this
point, if you haven’t requested a mail ballot yet, plan to vote in
person and vote early, if possible.â€
The extraordinary measures the USPS is taking to speed up the delivery of ballots are unprecedented.
Postal workers are allowed to sort and postmark ballots
themselves, a departure from regular protocol, the memo added, according
to The Post. Also, post offices are now authorized to create
ballot-only lines and drive-through ballot drop-off areas.
Meanwhile, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign has
started encouraging Americans to submit ballots in person rather than
through mail-in, The Post reported. Biden has been a strong proponent of
voting by mail throughout the election, according to Harper’s Bazaar.
An interesting dynamic has created a unique correlation between
support for Donald Trump’s re-election and in-person versus mail-in
voting.
Well, well! My wife and I have planned all along to vote in person. It's pretty easy for us, and I hope also to take our landlady along. She lives next door, had a knee replaced early in the year and is saying she's afraid to walk on it (some people love to make excuses).

I don't know what he was thinking. We need to take that to the board of election commissioners now.

Bidens' small hospitals hurt people in Penn. & elsewhere
Jack Kemp
Daniel Greenfield
reports about the shady activities of the Beau Biden Foundation, run by Hunter Biden, in operating hospitals. This also involved the bankruptcy of the St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis in a low income black neighborhood, a location now turned into a homeless shelter. Here are some quotes....
After they sued Biden and his partners, they received an envelope
filled with "blood-stained currency from a Middle Eastern country" linked to
terrorists and a "torture ticket" resulting in an FBI investigation.
But the real price is being paid in Ellwood City, in St. Louis, and Izard County.
Joe
Biden has run on a promise to tackle the pandemic. But when coronavirus
cases shot up 40% in Lawrence County over the summer, the Ellwood City
Medical Center wasn’t there.
New cases have been rising sharply in Izard County and in St. Louis, there is one hospital less able to help and treat the sick.
END OF QUOTES
After you read the full article, you can also read a follow up piece by Daniel Greenfield showing how Hunter Biden cashed in on a foundation that did nothing to help child abuse victims and may have contributed to the abuse. The article located
here. This one involves $22,000 doled out by the State of Delaware to fight COVID-19.

So much for Biden's bragging about how "his" administration will restore "affordable health care" to the country. The sad thing is that many people will believe him.

I hadn't heard that about Alexian Brothers Jack. That was a hospital for the poor in town here. I do know that other hospitals like St. Marys have seen a big rise in ER patients in recent months, so I guess that explains it.

Michigan judge strikes down ban on open carry guns at polling sites on Election Day
Dana Mathewson
Say what you want about the beauty of the state, especially the Upper Peninsula: I wouldn't want to live there! But at least one judge has his head on straight.
A judge on Tuesday blocked a ban on the open display of guns near Michigan polling places on Election Day, agreeing with gun rights advocates who had claimed the Democratic secretary of state failed to follow state law with her sudden order.
Gun
rights groups accused Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson of exceeding
her authority in banning people from openly carrying guns within 100
feet of voting sites.
The Oct. 16 order came after the FBI
recently busted an alleged plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, execute
an armed raid on the state Capitol, and target and kill law
enforcement. But Benson failed to go through a formal rule-making
process required under state law, Judge Christopher Murray said.
Compliance
"is no mere procedural nicety,†Murray said. "Instead, our appellate
courts have repeatedly emphasized the importance of the democratic
principles embodied in the [law], which requires notice and an
opportunity to be heard on the subject under consideration.â€
Earlier
in the day, Assistant Attorney General Heather Meingast said lawmakers
have given secretaries of state discretion to set certain election
rules, including safety. Separately, armed critics upset with the
governor's orders about controlling the coronavirus have rallied at the
Capitol.
"There are dozens — we’ve had numerous complaints,â€
Meingast told the judge. "There are voters who are afraid. There are
election workers who are afraid to go to work on Election Day.â€
Taking bets that this AG is a Soros plant!

Good. You can't just suspend a Constitutional right because it is inconvenient for you.

When it rains...Light blogging
Timothy Birdnow
The fates seem to be conspiring against me - or at least the IRS.
I'll explain.
First, I was trying in vain to clean out a backup of sewage in my basement yesterday. After trying to open the branch I realized it was not in said branch but rather in the main line. I called Rotorooter and they came out promptly. I had to stay outside in the cold with the tech while he worked on the sewer, and then I had to clean up after he left (that sludge sets like concrete.) It cost five large but it was worth getting it done right. But that's not the main problem.
The mailman showed up while I was ankle deep in human excrement with a friendly little note from my local Internal Revenue Service. Two notes actually; one telling me the refund I expected was adjusted down to nothing, and the other telling me that that return my accountant filed back in July was "incomplete' and they needed a form, one I certainly don't have. They did this ONE WEEK before the election! Is this a coincidence? I don't believe it is; the IRS is the swampiest of crocodiles and they have no reason to want another four years of Donald J. Trump. I suspect I'm not the only person to get a notice from these bloodsuckers at this time. They probably want to create an atmosphere of discontent at this moment in the hopes that disgruntled voters will vote for "change" meaning a return to the gator hole.
So now I've got to screw around with this, and I am not getting the refund.
To top it all off I found out I am going to have to have surgery on election day and will not be able to vote. They tell me I can go downtown city hall to vote at the Board of Election Commissioners, but that's going to be a huge hassle, with a long walk and paid parking.
It's too late to vote absentee.
So I suspect I'm going to be rather busy for a while. Please be patient.
------------------------------
Dana Mathewson adds $.02: I've been in contact with Tim; he'll be out of action for an unknown amount of time, but he DID get to vote after all! I'll be doing what I can to prevent the Aviary from falling into wrack and ruin, and I'm hoping to have the help of the faithful Jack Kemp from time to time. So please keep checking the site as you usually do.
And PLEASE ignore the increasing number of advertisements for "weed." Currently there is nothing we can do about these, but be assured that the management of the Aviary does not support or condone commercial advertising of any kind, especially for drugs, on this site!

Oh, dear Lord! You can't reschedule the surgery? You really need to vote.
As far as the clog, Rotorooter is a bandit -- there are other outfits that do the same kind of work for a lot less; you just have to find them. I know, this is not the time to tell you. We have a pipe under the laundry room that gets clogged about once every ten or twelve years -- landlady's responsibility, luckily -- and she's found somebody who's much less expensive. It's nothing we're doing wrong; it happens on her side too.

I wouldn't have been able to reschedule Dana; they had to get three different doctors together for this! I'm not looking forward to it.
Yeah; Rotorooter was really expensive. But they were out in half an hour and it was done, finis, so it was worth it. I don't like spending a lot more money, but I doubt I could have gotten anybody out there for a couple of days. I really didn't have time to shop around; I had a foot deep sewage in the basement and the whole house stunk. But it sure was painful!
Cathy's car has been broken down for months, and I decided to fix it. Another huge hassle; AAA came out and charged me $160 for a new battery, which got the car started but it wouldn't keep running. I wound up having it towed and it will probably cost a bundle. But I am going to need for her to be able to drive, if for no other reason than to get my medication. She can't see well, but she'll be going close.
It's a CRAZY week!
I had to call my accountant about the IRS, and they made me call my insurance company, who made me call...
