"Air Claire" McCaskill is in trouble here in Missouri. She has never been liked, and her ethical problems and Lili Von Shtupp - like devotion to Barack Obama have soured Missourians on Missouri's senior Senator. She would have lost her last election bid had it not been for the abandonment of Todd Akin by the GOP. At any rate, she is in trouble, and she knows it.
Well, in a leaked tape our favorite debutante warns that filibustering judge Gorsuch could lead to a greater defeat down the road.
From the Kansas City Star:
"Republicans need eight Democratic votes to obtain the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster and confirm Gorsuch. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York has called for a filibuster of Gorsuch, but McCaskill predicted that if Democrats refuse to confirm Gorsuch then Republicans would likely look to eliminate the rule and reduce the number of votes needed for confirmation to 51.
"The Gorsuch situation is really hard. There are going to be people in this room that are going to say, ‘No, no, no. You cannot vote for Gorsuch,’ †McCaskill said in the recording. "Let’s assume for the purposes of this discussion that we turn down Gorsuch, that there are not eight Democrats that vote to confirm him and therefore there’s not enough to put him on the Supreme Court. What then?â€
She pointed to the list of potential nominees that Trump released before the election to galvanize conservative support. "By the way, Gorsuch was one of the better ones,†McCaskill quipped."
End excerpt.
Hear the tape here.
McCaskill continues:
"So they move it to 51 votes and they confirm either Gorsuch or they confirm the one after Gorsuch,†she continued. "They go on the Supreme Court and then, God forbid, Ruth Bader Ginsburg dies, or (Anthony) Kennedy retires or (Stephen) Breyer has a stroke or is no longer able to serve. Then we’re not talking about Scalia for Scalia, which is what Gorsuch is, we’re talking about Scalia for somebody on the court who shares our values. And then all of a sudden the things I fought for with scars on my back to show for it in this state are in jeopardy."
End excerpts.
So Claire wants Gorsuch to save her political skin. No surprise; Gorsuch is not really that conservative, although he is eminently qualified. But so was Robert Bork and we saw where that got the GOP. Democrats aren't known for playing well weth others.
McCaskill is corrupt to the core. Her husband's firm made $40 million off the Federal government for low income housing which is clearly a plum for her loyalty to Obama. This is the same hubby who cheated on his taxes, refusing to pay $287.000 on his airplane (hence the name "air Claire") and only paying when caught. The same Claire who recently lied about meeting with the Russians. The same Claire whose first husband was killed in a drug deal, suggesting that Claire - or at least her hubby - may have had organized crime ties. If that is true I doubt Claire was unaware.
McCaskill is the 12th richest U.S. Senator, with a networth between n $15.6 million and $27.5 million. Strangely nobody knows her exact worth. A true woman of the people.
But she does know what side her bread is buttered on, and if she is calling for approving Gorsuch it means that is politically important that it be done. Filibustering him will only hurt the Democrats.

From a friend in New York State:
A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL STATE OF MICHIGAN:
this is a warning on tactics used to trap drivers male and female
Eggs Mixed with Water... It could save your Life
A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL STATE OF MICHIGAN:
SITUATION..
While driving on a rural end of the roadway on Thursday morning, I saw an
infant car seat on the side of the road with a blanket draped over it.
For whatever reason, I did not stop, even though I had all kinds of thoughts
running through my head. But when I got to my destination, I called the
Canton PD and they were going to check it out. But, this is what the
Police advised even before they went out there to check...
"There are several things to be aware of... Gangs and thieves are now plotting
different ways to get a person (mostly women) to stop their vehicle and
get out of the car.
There is a gang initiation reported by the local Police Department where gangs
are placing a car seat by the road...with a fake baby in it....waiting
for a woman, of course, to stop and check on the abandoned baby.
Note that the location of this car seat is usually beside a wooded or grassy
(field) area and the person - woman - will be dragged into the woods,
beaten and raped, and usually left for dead. If it's a man, they're
usually beaten and robbed and maybe left for dead, too.
DO NOT STOP FOR ANY REASON! DIAL 9-1-1 AND REPORT WHAT YOU SAW, BUT DON'T EVEN SLOW DOWN.
Oh yea, about the EGGS:
IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND EGGS ARE THROWN AT YOUR WINDSHIELD, DO NOT STOP TO CHECK YOUR CAR, DO NOT OPERATE THE WIPERS AND DO NOT
SPRAY ANY WATER BECAUSE EGGS MIXED WITH WATER BECOME MILKY, AND
BLOCK YOUR VISION UP TO 92.5%, AND YOU ARE THEN FORCED TO STOP BESIDE
THE ROAD AND BECOME A VICTIM OF THESE CRIMINALS.
THIS IS A NEW TECHNIQUE USED BY GANGS, SO PLEASE INFORM YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES.
THESE ARE DESPERATE TIMES AND THESE ARE UNSAVORY INDIVIDUALS WHO WILL TAKE DESPERATE MEASURES TO GET WHAT THEY WANT."
Please talk to your loved ones about this. This is a new tactic being used.
Please be safe.
WARNING # 3:
Some knew about the red light on cars, but didn't know about Dialing 112.
It was about 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend. An UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put his lights on. Laurenâs parents have always told her to never pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road, but rather to wait until they get to a gas station, etc.
Lauren had actually listened to her parents advice, and promptly called 112 on her cell phone to tell the police dispatcher that she would not pull over right away.
She proceeded to tell the dispatcher that there was an unmarked police car with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her. The dispatcher checked to see if there were police cars where she was and there weren't, and he told her to keep driving, remain calm and that he had back up already on the way.
Ten minutes later 4 cop cars surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her. One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car behind. They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the ground. The man
was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.
I never knew about the 112 Cell P hone feature.
I tried it on my AT&T phone & it said, "Dialing Emergency
Number." Especially for a woman alone in a car, you should not pull over for an unmarked car. Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going on to a safe place.
*Speaking to a service representative at Bell Mobility confirmed that 112 was a direct link to State trooper info.
So, now it's your turn to let your friends know about " Dialing 112 â.
This applies to ALL 50 states.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.
That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.
The only thing I've said with respect to coal, I haven't been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a (sic) ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.
So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.
It's just that it will bankrupt themBarack Obama to the S-F Chronicle Editorial Board 2008
Here is a purposely deceptive little item written by a McClatchy writer and designed to temper enthusiasm for Donald Trumps lifting of draconian regulations on coal. The articlee, entitled Why Trump’s rollback of Obama rules won’t do much for coal country and written by Curtis Tate makes the following claims:
"Trump rolled back Obama administration regulations considered detrimental to the industry. But the president’s actions will bring minimal benefit to the coal-producing regions that helped him win the White House, according to the government’s own projections.
At best, according to government data, coal production will increase by about 5 million tons a year by 2040 out of 800 million tons overall under Trump’s order."
End excerpt.
But what the writer cites is not new predictions by the government but a July 2016 article by the Obama Energy Information Administration which is making predictions based on then current trends. Those trends were predicated on the crushing regulations that Obama was using to kill the coal industry remaining in place. As usual with liberals, the writer either doesn't understand or chooses not to accept the reality that coal has been declining entirely because government has been waging war against it, and it will rebound if allowed to do so.
He crows about the lower price of natural gas, but fails to understand that fracking is more expensive than coal mining, and the U.S. is the absolute king of coal, the Saudi Arabia of coal. Coal production WILL improve without the heavy hand of government.
The chart at the top of the EIA report makes that perfectly clear; coal production spiked in the West in 2010 and then dropped off precipitously. While fracking did indeed come in during this time period so too did the Obama regulatory leviathan rise from the sea at this time. Would coal have dropped off so drastically without the iron boot at the throat? Interior region coal remained largely steady, and yes Appalachian coal dropped off steadily since the 1990's one can still blame at least in part heavy environmental regulations from the Clinton Administration, the Bush administration (which was not very friendly to coal) and then Obama.
This is a classic example of liberals scoring the economy from a static rather than dynamic view. It is why so many Democrats argued against Reagan's tax cuts, with George H.W. Bush (yes, a liberal) calling it "voodoo economics"cutting x amount of income would ultimately raise revenue levels. The Left could not or would not understand that less taxation means more economic growth. And more innovation.
Yes, the old way of doing things with coal is finished, but by reviving the industry they will find new, cleaner, and cheaper ways to be competitive. Regulations and taxes help nobody but the government and environmental groups.
The article continues:
"However, power companies were already moving away from coal and toward cleaner energy sources because of ongoing economic trends. Cheap natural gas produced by hydraulic fracturing has displaced numerous coal-fired power plants. Mechanized mining has been reducing coal employment for decades.
"Unless he does something about natural gas or technological change, it’s really not going to reverse the change we’ve seen,†said Ken Troske, an economics professor at the University of Kentucky. "If anything, these actions will slow the decline.â€
Tyler White, president of the Kentucky Coal Association, said he couldn’t predict how many jobs Trump’s executive order would create, "but I can tell you that it definitely will help stop the bleeding.â€"
End excerpt.
The stupidity of saying we shouldn't do this because it may not help all that much should be obvious; as Tyler White observes, it at least will help stop the bleeding. Please note that the naysayer here is a professor, an ivory-tower theoretician and not the practical man, the doer.
And the American Action Forum reported that 8,100 jobs are lost for every billion dollars in regulatory costs and even the regions where coal is growing (such as Wyoming or Illinois) jobs are disappearing. Industry changes do not account for the losses.
Here is an explanation of why Appalachian coal has become more expensive than coal from Wyoming (or Illinois). From the article:
"The origins for this coal-to-coal switching lie in the sulfur content of eastern and western coal. Western coal has lower sulfur content, and with more stringent sulfur air emissions rules, burning western coal was the cheaper option.
Western coal is still competitive because of geology: most of the 'easy' coal has already been mined in Appalachia, leaving the harder to reach, more expensive coal seams"
End excerpt.
Sooooo...
At the top of the column is government regulation. Yes, Appalachia is tapping out - but then so too was American oil until fracking came along. But the main reason is EPA regulations.
Look, coal's share of the u.S. energy sector went from 53% in 2005 to 34% by 2015, which is guaranteed to seriously wound any industry. And the price of metallurgical coal completely collapsed in the U.S. But also the Chinese have stopped buying so much U.S. coal, and that has been a function of a weak economy in China coupled with efforts to move away from basic industrial production. Chinese steel production had a growth rate of 10% as late as 2012, but that fell to 0.6
5 in 2015 and has not materially recovered. While the Chinese were buying Metallurgical coal, a drop in one sector of an industry will affect the entire market.
The Chinese economic woes are directly tied to the weak American economy. Fix that and China will become a better customer. It all hangs together.
In the end the liberals will try to claim that Trump's actions will do nothing not because they will not but because the liberals WANT them to do nothing. It is politics wrapped in economics/science.

Folks, she and her son (her "spitting image?") got arrested...
Infamous ‘Spitting Lady’ finally arrested by cops
The spit has finally hit the fan for the Upper East Side’s infamous sputum slinger.
The homeless woman, known as "The Spitting Lady of 77th Street†– along with her 44-year-old son – were both arrested Thursday morning, law enforcement sources told The Post.
The 65-year-old woman, whom residents call "Susan,†and her son were picked up on E. 78th Street between 1st and 2nd avenues just before 7 a.m., sources said. Charges were pending.
Their full names were not immediately released.
The woman has been dousing locals with her saliva for years, according to fed up residents.
And she’s become such a nuisance, that an online petition was started demanding Mayor Bill de Blasio and local councilmen Ben Kallos and Daniel Garodnick take action.
"For years there has been a woman who has been wandering the streets of the upper east side who screams, yells and spits on people,†the petition reads.
"Pedestrians see her on a daily basis, and despite numerous calls to police, the public was told to turn a blind eye. This woman is not only a nuisance, but she is a threat as she is assaulting people vilely with saliva. She mainly spits on children, while also hissing and yelling at them,†the petition continues.
According to the petition, the woman’s son recently joined his mother in harassing residents.
"He is a tall man, who also yells at pedestrians, and serves as her bodyguard,†says the petition, which has been signed by more than 1,470 people.
When confronted by The Post last week, the homeless woman shouted, "I’m calling the cops! I know my rights! I live in the streets!â€

Matt Walsh: Christians, our true battle is spiritual, not political
This week I published my book, The Unholy Trinity. The first few lines of the book — particularly the first sentence — have already sparked a fair amount of reaction:
The first liberal was named Lucifer. He was an angel. He lived in Heaven millennia ago, before modern times, before ancient times, before time itself. He could still be there today if that’s what he’d chosen, but in his absurd and insatiable pride he would not bend his knee to the supreme will of God.
Non serviam. "I will not serve,†he said, wanting to love only himself.
Just like that, he and those who followed him were cast out of Paradise, down into the hideous depths of Hell, where he could reign over his pitiful kingdom of darkness. It was there, in the fires of damnation, that the philosophy of liberalism was born, although it wouldn’t be known by that name for many years. I’m telling a somewhat abbreviated version of the story, I realize.
It was this philosophy that led to the Fall of Man, when Adam and Eve succumbed to the temptations of the serpent and attempted to make themselves equal to God.
It was the philosophy behind every act of human evil throughout history, at the bottom of every atrocity. It’s the philosophy you would have found incubating in Sodom and Gomorrah amid the orgy of heathens, or in the Temple of Baal, where the pagans made human sacrifices as part of their barbaric fertility rituals and to ensure for themselves wealth and prosperity.
This philosophy has propelled all the great villains throughout history. It is the philosophy of Judas, of Nero, of Genghis Khan, of Adolf Hitler, of Hillary Clinton. The specifics of what these people all believed, and how they framed it around the political circumstances of the day, isn’t terribly relevant, for they desired the same thing and worshiped the same god: the self.
What we call "liberalism†in public discourse today is really just the worship of self. It is the categorical belief in the supremacy of the individual…Of course, we all lapse into selfishness at times — I often provide proof of that — but those who affirm the ultimate primacy of the self all share the same ideology. Their worship might manifest itself in different ways, but they’re all cut from the same cloth woven by the Devil himself eons ago.

"Fewer than 1 percent of papers published in scientific journals follow the scientific method, according to research by Wharton School professor and forecasting expert J. Scott Armstrong.
Professor Armstrong, who co-founded the peer-reviewed Journal of Forecasting in 1982 and the International Journal of Forecasting in 1985, made the claim in a presentation about what he considers to be "alarmism†from forecasters over man-made climate change.
"We also go through journals and rate how well they conform to the scientific method. I used to think that maybe 10 percent of papers in my field … were maybe useful. Now it looks like maybe, one tenth of one percent follow the scientific method†said Armstrong in his presentation, which can be watched in full below. "People just don’t do it.â€"

It’s amazing how stupid smart people can seem when intent on putting a square peg in a round hole. This is seen continually when certain apologists try to dig Islam out of its hole — the one dug deeper every time there’s another terrorist act.
Consider the recent London jihadist attack by Muslim convert Khalid Masood. Globe & Fail columnist Doug Saunders, proving he missed his calling as a contortionist, actually HYPERLINK "https://twitter.com/DougSaunders/status/845055100414517248" tweeted that Masood, like the "authors of UK’s other big Jihadi attacks, was not a Muslim. Born Adrian Elms.â€
He explained his "reasoning†in a second tweet: "Not Muslim by background. The question is where extremists are coming from — in UK, often Christian families.†In other words, relevant to Saunders is the faith Masood was "born into,†which he had no choice in, not the beliefs he consciously chose to embrace as an adult.
Question: if a godless child of atheists converted to Christianity and committed terrorism, would Saunders blame the act on atheism?
Then, I’m sure Saunders isn’t fond of Ronald Reagan and his policies. Does he blame Democrats for them because Reagan came from a Democrat family and was one well into adulthood?
Obviously, if Christianity were the issue in terrorism, we’d see actual professed Christians committing such acts — not just Muslims, a few of whom once were Christian.
Moreover, anyone with a lick of understanding knows that converts make the most zealous believers. Who is more passionate about chess? Someone born to chess-loving parents who is indifferent about the game or a person who decides as an adult to play it three hours a day?
But human pretzels abound. On the Friday edition of HBO’s Real Time, Heat Street columnist and former Conservative member of the U.K. Parliament Louise Mensch HYPERLINK "http://thehill.com/media/325757-maher-on-london-attack-you-never-hear-merry-christmas-before-bomb-goes-off" echoed Saunder’s rationalization. She then responded to host Bill Maher’s statement that Masood was motivated by his religion with, "It has nothing to do with Islam, the same way Timothy McVeigh had nothing to do with Roman Catholicism.â€
Aside from how telling it is that jihadi apologists must reach back 22 years for an example of significant non-Muslim domestic terrorism — McVeigh bombed a government building in 1995 — we can be sure his act had nothing to do with Roman Catholicism: McVeigh was an atheist.
Another Real Time guest, MSNBC host Chris Hayes, responded to a Maher point about there being no Christian armies like ISIS with, "The IRA that blew up London for 15 years!†What’s tragic is that a media personality could say something so inane without blowing up his career.
The Irish Republican Army, as its name suggests, was defined by being Irish Republicans (not Christian), just as the Islamic State is defined by being Islamic. The IRA had HYPERLINK "https://www.britannica.com/topic/Irish-Republican-Army" three well-defined goals:
It sought the end of British rule in Northern Ireland, not the end of other religions.
It desired the reunification of Ireland, not the unification of the world under one faith.
And it sought the establishment of a republic, not a theocracy. Its terrorists didn’t scream "Christ is King!†while committing violence; in fact, many of its early members were those atheist ideologues known as communists.
Moreover, the IRA was devoted to fighting one government in one place; it wasn’t a worldwide moveme
nt seeking to subdue all of humanity. Equating it with the Islamic State is, quite frankly, stupid.
While Maher deserves credit for standing up to this head-in-sand lunacy, his defense was lacking. His main response was to point out that the events cited by his pitiful panel were in the past; he also contributed to the problem by citing the "Inquisition†as also being analogous to Muslim terrorism. Yet this is like saying that today’s "Human Rights Tribunals†are also terrorist entities.
First, realize that it’s hard to find a civilization that didn’t have laws against heresy. Pre-Christian pagan civilizations such as the Romans and Greeks sure did; in fact, one of the crimes legendary philosopher Socrates was executed for was "mocking the gods.†There also were Protestant inquisitions along with the well-known Catholic ones.
But consider: the first inquisition wasn’t instituted until the 12th century. What happened to heretics for the first 1,100 years of Christian history?
Answer: they were judged by the government. They’d be brought before the local lord, who likely had little training in law or theology and who might want to dispose of the case before dinner. Consequently, his judgments were often arbitrary and capricious, and many people were unjustly convicted.
As a response, the Church instituted inquisitions — the first being in southern France in 1184 — for the purposes of bringing order and justice to the process. People forget that "inquisition†means "inquiry,†and that was the tribunals’ job: to inquire into the validity of heresy charges.
The result? Most defendants were acquitted or received light punishments — and none were executed by the inquisitions. This is because heresy was not a capital crime under Church law, only under government law. In fact, the now notorious Spanish Inquisition was considered in its time the best run court in Europe, with jails so good that criminals in state custody were known to purposely blaspheme in order to be transferred to them.
For more information, read HYPERLINK "https://www.thefreelibrary.com/The+Inquisition+and+iniquity%3A+burning+heretics+or+history%3A+the...-a0354268012" my essay on the matter, HYPERLINK "http://www.nationalreview.com/article/211193/real-inquisition-thomas-f-madden" that of medieval scholar Professor Thomas Madden, or watch the below BBC documentary, "The Myth of the Spanish Inquisition.â€
[Insert video: HYPERLINK "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CY-pS6iLFuc" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CY-pS6iLFuc]
Of course, Americans generally don’t appreciate thought-police bodies, but that’s not the point. The aforementioned Human Rights Tribunals — which HYPERLINK "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQnNCGN2ywE" render "hate speech†judgments — are inquisitions. Yet I don’t think Bill Maher would equate them with the Islamic State.
It’s only surprising that Maher’s panel didn’t also mention the Crusades, HYPERLINK "https://www.thenewamerican.com/culture/history/item/4698-the-crusades-when-christendom-pushed-back" defensive wars that were designed to HYPERLINK "http://www.crisismagazine.com/2011/the-real-history-of-the-crusades" stave off Muslim aggression and which, quite possibly, saved Western civilization. It’s usually thrown in there when people are making up anti-Christian history.
Of course, it goes without saying that Christians did at times use violence, yet when done unjustly this violates the faith itself. And is sin surprising? Christians are just imperfect people trying to live up to a perfect standard. As G.K. Chesterton put it, "Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.â€
It’s also true that, on occasion, Christianity has been enforced with an iron fist. Charlemagne certainly did this. But what hasn’t been? Why, we spread democracy at a bayonet’s tip when invading Arab lands and engaging in "nation building.â€
The reality, though, is that the Christian norm has been to spread the faith by the word; the Muslim norm has been conversion by the sword.
And perhaps this was reflected in a very interesting German HYPERLINK "http://www.dw.com/en/study-finds-young-devout-muslims-in-germany-more-prone-to-violence/a-5655554" study involving 45,000 young people. Released in 2010, it found that while increasing religiosity made Christian youth less violent, it made Muslim youth more violent.
There simply is no Christian analogue, in all of history, to today’s Islamic terrorism. It only exists in the minds of quislings who, wittingly or not, have become the propaganda arm of global jihad.

"The Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2018.â€
Those words are the entire content of a new bill, H.R. 899. This bill was introduced by courageous Congressman Thomas Massie (R – Kentucky).
H.R. 899 is revolutionary.
H.R. 899 will end the destruction of America’s education system.
H.R. 899 should have been introduced 37 years ago.
But no Republican has had the courage to do the right thing in all those years – until now.
That’s why I’m asking you to stand with this courageous Congressman to help him get this vital bill passed in Congress and delivered to President Trump’s desk for his signature.
Please sign the petition to Congressman Massie telling him you support H.R.899.
PETITION TO: TERMINATE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION https://americanpolicy.org/petition-hr-899/?mc_cid=34815985da&mc_eid=5f9147cc8c
And I will personally deliver your signed petition to him so that he may display yours and thousands more to show Congress the American people demand an end to the federal Department of Education.
This is what you and I have been waiting for.
It’s the end of the federal government messing with the minds of our children, indoctrinating them with leftist propaganda.
The end of Common Core!
The end of the power of the National Education Association (NEA) the most powerful union in the nation – and the one that directly affects your child’s future!
These programs and policies are the NEA’s agenda:
Goals 2000, School to Work, Workforce Development Boards, pumping drugs like Ritalin into our children. And now today - Common Core.
Classrooms are torturing your children with idiotic programs like Common
Core where the questions make no sense – defy logic and cause them to quit.
American history has been removed. Instead of learning about the Declaration of Independence the children have been indoctrinated to accept the UN’s Declaration on Human Rights.
Academics have nearly disappeared from the classroom and the children are pummeled with propaganda on global warming.
The Department of Education’s policy is to determine that your children are sick if they believe in their nation as a bastion of freedom. Or if they love God and their families.
As a result of 38 years of the Department of Education our children have been successfully turned into ignorant, pliable global village idiots!
Does that sound harsh?
Then take a good look around you. Look at the surge of young people who unquestioningly supported avowed Socialist Bernie Sanders for president.
Look at the sick images of college students who need counseling and coloring books to deal with anyone who expresses opinions other than those deemed to be politically correct by the Education establishment.
It’s all fed through the Department of Education. And if our nation is to survive it must stop!
That’s why you and I must take a stand to help Rep. Massie succeed in terminating the Department of Education.
PETITION TO: TERMINATE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
In introducing his H.R. 899 Rep. Massie said, "States and local communities are best positioned to shape curricula that meet the needs of their students.â€
And he is absolutely right.
That’s why we have 50 state school boards. And it’s why nearly every community in the nation has a locally-elected school board – so parents have a say in their child’s education.
Through that system of local control the United States education system was the envy of the world. Today it is a pathetic failure.
H.R. 899 has been long overdue.
In 1980 Ronald Reagan promised to get rid of the Department of Education that was started by Jimmy Carter just a year before. Reagan was betrayed by the same type of establishment Republicans that now threaten Donald Trump.
In 1996 the Republican Party Platform said the "federal government has no constitutional authority to be involved in school curricula… That is why we will abolish the Department of Education, end federal meddling in our schools and promote family choice at all levels of learning.â€
Republicans lost the presidential race that year and so the Department of Education survived.
Today you and I have a new chance.
During the recent campaign, President Trump called for slashing the Department of Education Budget. He certainly sees the danger.
And I am quite certain that new Education Secretary Betsy DeVos would gladly see her position ended if it also meant the end of the Department of Education. That would be a victory for her and the Trump Administration.
PETITION TO: TERMINATE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
So let’s take the right action today.
Let’s end the power of the National Education Association.
Let’s save generations of children from being enslaved in ignorance.
Let’s save millions of tax payer dollars.
And let’s take the first vital steps in draining the swamp and restoring our nation’s precious Republic.
All of that can be achieved by passing a simple one-line bill.
"The Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2018.â€
It’s that simple.
I started my fight against the Department of Education in the 1990s when Bill Clinton was president. He had introduced Goals 2000 and the rest of the policies to change our education system. This was before Common Core.
I walked all over Capitol Hills meeting with Members of Congress, begging them to stop these programs. Incredibly, Republicans were actually sponsoring many of them.
I actually succeeded three times in stopping the passage of the Workforce Development Act – then called the Careers Act – until I was betrayed by a U.S. Senator from Ohio – Mike DeWine. He lied on the floor of the Senate by saying I and Phyllis Schlafly supported the bill. His lie passed the bill.
Please, join with me in supporting Congressman Thomas Massie’s bill H. R. 899. We can finally terminate the federal Department of Education and return education policy to the local level where you have a say in how it is done!
Please sign the petition of support to Rep. Massie so he can prove the American people support his bill and demand an end to the Department of Education.
PETITION TO: TERMINATE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
Also, if you can, please call you congressman and ask for his support of the bill. In fact, if you can, ask him/her to co-sponsor it. He has 7 co-sponsors so far. If we can get 50 Members of Congress to sign on we can pass H.R. 899!
You can call your Congressional Representative at 202-224-3121. Just ask for him/her by name. You will be automatically connected.
I am doing everything I can to build support for the bill. Will you help me lead that effort across the country?
WILLIAM, will you also please include a donation to my organization, the American Policy Center (APC)? I cannot lead this fight without it.
$100, $500, or even $1000 will make an incredible difference in my ability to fight. The NEA has millions of dollars in its war chest to fight this bill. I have only support from dedicated folks like you.
But we can win this battle to terminate the Department of Education because the American people are finally fed up with these tyrannical policies of the Left. We’ve never had a better opportunity.
H.R. 899 is our best chance to stop the destruction of our American way.
PETITION TO: TERMINATE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
Thank you,
Tom DeWeese
President

Donald Trump Could Get Obamacare Repealed Tomorrow If He Did This
If Donald Trump really wants to get Obamacare repealed, there is one easy thing he and he alone could do tomorrow that would force the congressional GOP to act.
As Phil Kerpen noted, President Obama gave Congress an illegal Obamacare exemption that allows members of congress and committee staff to avoid going into Obamacare.
After a little-noticed meeting with Senate Democrats in March 2013, Obama personally committed to illegally exempt Congress from Obamacare. And he delivered.
Obama directed the Office of Personnel Management to issue a rule (78 Fed. Reg. 60653-01) purporting that Congress, which has thousands of employees, is a small business and therefore: "the DC Health Link Small Business Market administered by the DC Health Benefit Exchange

Jack Kemp forwards this:
http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2017/03/oh_how_the_mighty_have_fallen.html
Oh, How the Mighty Have Fallen
By Rabbi Aryeh Spero
The fear and scrambling of citizens in London a few days ago was a humiliating scene, wherein a powerful city and its entire government came to a halt because of one man, an Islamist with an axe and a truck. We have seen similar things happen in other major Western cities. Humiliating the West is one of the primary goals of militant Islam. It is a victory for their deity, as demonstrated by the ubiquitous shouts of "Allahu Akhbar†prior to the terror act, a time-worn declaration of Islamic victory and humiliation of the infidel. The multiculturalists do not see it as a humiliation against us, for the us -- an us with an identity -- is no longer important or recognized by them. In contrast, those on the other side killing and reshaping us have a confidence and pride in their identity.
Instead of fighting and becoming angry, we light candles and turn off the lights in tall buildings. We vow to fight a nonspecific theory called "terrorism" instead of protecting our borders from whom and where it is precisely coming. In response to the terrorism in our cities, we call for even more multiculturalism and appeasement. We have become the pitiful we, pathetic, because of Barack Obama’s repeated sermonette of: "That’s not who we are.†Whenever suggestions were made for the urgent need to monitor some of the mosques or the young men most likely to commit future terrorist acts against us, Obama would declare: "That’s not who we are.â€
When it comes to Islamic terror or shariah imposition, Obama and other globalists preach a type of defenselessness and impotence: something we have to abide. For many liberals, virtue signaling, the epitome of vanity, is more important than saving lives, even the lives of their countrymen.
Heroic people, however, know exactly who they are: They are those who defend their country and families from terrorism, death and injury. People with an identity know who they are and thus fight for it. Transnationalists don’t… and, with sophistry, try to stop others from doing so.
As uber-multiculturalists, these globalist leaders are making a nation’s accommodation to Islam, and the incorporation of Islamic ways and demands, the litmus test of multicultural compliance. Islam is their fast-track tool for transforming Western societies and is being catapulted by them into religious and cultural stardom. It is being romanticized as the new global commonality and outlook, a catchall for all that is right-minded and progressive. By being the new "victim†of Western intolerance and oppression, Islam is automatically elevated and ennobled as something enlightened and most tolerant, especially by those abandoning and running from their Christian ancestry and upbringing and seeking an exotic system in which to pour all their utopian and rebellious yearnings.
This is an outstanding article. Be sure to read it in it's entirety.

There was a form of torture and eventual execution employed by Chinese authorities from about 900-1905. The formal name is lingchi, meaning death by a thousand cuts. The victim being put to death did not expire immediately, but instead bled to death very slowly and excruciatingly.
Lingchi describes what is happening to Western European nations. They are slowly dying because of Islamist terrorists’ thousand cuts.
But it is clear that, although the nations of Europe receive cut after cut, most of the leaders of those nations, as well as the leaders of the European Union, still will not acknowledge that Europe is being bled to death. That is because they will not or cannot diagnose, much less get rid of, the ideological disease that causes internal bleeding.
They do not comprehend that importing surgeons of death hidden among millions of immigrants is a recipe for national suicide. They also don’t realize that dealing with one wound at a time won’t staunch the hemorrhaging. Examining the latest wound and waiting for it to scab over while the next one is being inflicted will not heal the bleeding body politic.
Nor will the same, tired and futile political placebos offered as palliatives for the latest wound -- like the attack in Great Britain -- actually deal with the underlying problems. Candlelight vigils, lighting up landmarks with the colors of the flag, speechifying and rationalizing terrorist behavior will never, ever deal effectively with the knife wielding inflictors of death and destruction.
Tragically, the European nations just have not exhibited the will to do what needs to be done.
But they must. They simply must.
It was Viktor Orban of Hungary, who in a fiery speech just last year, eloquently defined the problem and the malaise of Europe’s leaders. He realized Europe’s (and thus Hungary’s) national identities would be erased by the influx of foreigners whose ideology was adamantly opposed to the still largely Christian character and identity of Europe. He also recognized that the bureaucracy of the European Union was committed to the eradication of national boundaries and histories, wanting instead a cosmopolitan immigration policy that reinforced an ideology of internationalism.
Orban pointed the finger directly at Brussels:
"If we want to halt this mass migration, first we must curb Brussels. The main danger to Europe’s future does not come from those who want to come here, but from Brussels’ fanatical internationalism. We should not allow Brussels to place itself above the law. We shall not allow it to force upon us the bitter fruit of its cosmopolitan immigration policy. We shall not import to Hungary crime, terrorism, homophobia and synagogue-burning anti-Semitism. There shall be no urban districts beyond the reach of the law, there shall be no mass disorder, no immigrant riots here, and there shall be no gangs hunting down our women and daughters. We shall not allow others to tell us whom we can let into our home and country, whom we will live alongside, and with whom we will share our country. We know how these things go. First, we allow them to tell us whom we must take in, then they force us to serve foreigners in our own country. In the end, we find ourselves being told to pack up and leave our own land. Therefore, we reject the forced resettlement scheme, and we shall tolerate neither blackmail, nor threats.â€
Orban made it clear that the Hungarian people have a right to retain their national identity, which was bought with the treasure of blood and revolution in 1848 and once again in 1956. Doubtless recalling the defeat of Hungary by the Ottomans at Varna in 1444 and the subsequent Islamization of the Balkans, he stood up for the Christian inheritance of the Hungarian people. He stated the heritage of Hungary and Europe are worth preserving:
"We adhere to the ancient law, and also measure our deeds by universal standards. We teach our children that their horizon should be eternity. Whether we shall succeed, whether finally we see the building of a homeland which is free, independent, worthy and respected the world over -- one which was raised high by our forebears from 1848, and for which they sacrificed their lives -- we cannot yet know. We do know, however, that the current European constellation is an unstable one, and so we have some testing times ahead. The times in which we live press us with this question, which is like a hussar’s sabre held to our chest: ‘Shall we live in slavery or in freedom?’ The destiny of the Hungarians has become intertwined with that of Europe’s nations and has grown to be so much a part of the union that today not a single people -- including the Hungarian people -- can be free if Europe is not free. And today Europe is as fragile, weak and sickly as ‘a flower being eaten away by a hidden worm.’â€
In what was probably the most important part of his speech, he pointed out Brussels had a politically correct list of forbidden sentiments. He said that speaking the truth about what is happening in Europe is stifled:
"Europe is not free. Because freedom begins with speaking the truth. Today in Europe it is forbidden to speak the truth… It is forbidden to say that those arriving are not refugees, but that Europe is threatened by migration. It is forbidden to say that tens of millions are ready to set out in our direction. It is forbidden to say that immigration brings crime and terror to our countries. It is forbidden to point out that the masses arriving from other civilizations endanger our way of life, our culture, our customs and our Christian traditions. It is forbidden to point out that those who arrived earlier have already built up their own new, separate world for themselves, with its own laws and ideals, which is forcing apart the thousand-year-old structure of Europe. It is forbidden to point out that this is not an accidental and unintentional chain of consequences, but a preplanned and orchestrated operation; a mass of people directed towards us. It is forbidden to say that in Brussels they are concocting schemes to transport foreigners here as quickly as possible and to settle them here among us. It is forbidden to point out that the purpose of settling people here is to reshape the religious and cultural landscape of Europe, and to reengineer its ethnic foundations. — thereby eliminating the last barrier to internationalism: the nation-states. It is forbidden to say that Brussels is now stealthily devouring more and more slices of our national sovereignty, and that in Brussels many are now making a plan for a United States of Europe — for which no one has ever given authorization.â€
Could one find a more succinct summary of what is happening because of Brussels’ commitment to globalism, which is essentially a supranational order that encourages and even requires the extinction of individual nations such as Hungary and other nations within the EU?
He concludes nations must fight for their identities:
"The question upon which the future of Europe stand or falls is this: Shall we be slaves or men set free -- That is the question. Answer me! Go for it, Hungary; go for it Hungarians!â€
As for the nation most recently afflicted by yet another deep terrorist cut; namely, Great Britain, she would be wise to take Orban’s advice. She should regain the British lion’s roar.
Perhaps Prime Minister Theresa May could start by calling out the Muslim mayor of London for saying that Britain must get used to terrorism as a regular part of daily life. Perhaps she could advise deporting imams and others who are advocating death and destruction for British "infidels.†Maybe a new political agenda could include surveillance of mosques whose leaders believe all non-Muslims deserve death. Certainly, she could advocate beefing up police and armed forces and push for severe penalties for those who would dare to attempt to take down her and the entire British government.
Maybe words like "treason†and "sedition†could come back into use and the penalties for such behavior enacted swiftly and promptly. Certainly, the evil people intent on inflicting yet more cuts to the body of England should be dealt with severely.
Meanwhile, the British must strengthen their resolve to retain their national identity and history -- a history that was shaped by Christianity in a thousand beneficial ways. Britain was and still largely is a Christian nation. The battle she faces in order to retain her identity is largely spiritual in nature.
Unless Britain and other oppressed and afflicted European nations take strong steps to preserve their identities and are willing to strike back with force against radical Islamist terrorism, they will continue to be tortured and eventually bleed to death -- just as Orban predicted.

There goes my dream of winning the lottery and moving to the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Well, the second half of the dream, anyway.
This is what it was like when Dinkins was mayor, before he lost to Giuliani.

One of the many important decisions that the Trump Administration has yet to make, is where to relocate the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) headquarters. The current headquarters, which is outdated and crumbling, is in the District of Columbia (D.C.). Several years ago, the Obama Administration began the process of planning the move.
Consideration was limited to just D.C., and nearby localities in Maryland and Virginia. Ultimately, three locations in two counties were chosen for further study. The two counties being considered are Maryland's second most populous county, Prince George's, and Virginia's most populous county, Fairfax.
The new headquarters is expected to cost well over $1 billion and house about 11,000 employees with an annual payroll of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Currently, the decision is on hold pending Congressional authorization of funds for construction. This is good news, because there are several reasons why the Trump administration might wish to allow more localities to compete for the headquarters.
For example, one the localities under consideration, Prince George's County is a sanctuary jurisdiction — meaning that they do not fully support and even obstruct the enforcement of federal immigration law.
According to the Center for Immigration Studies, which keeps track of sanctuary jurisdictions using data obtained from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of municipalities that refuse to comply with federal detainer requests when illegal immigrants are incarcerated, Prince George's County is a sanctuary jurisdiction.
In 2014, the county executive decided that the county would refuse to comply with ICE requests, unless ICE procured a judicially issued warrant as opposed to the administrative warrants used by the agency.
In 2016, the county board unanimously passed a resolution calling ICE's immigration enforcement procedures "unduly aggressive."
This year, after President Trump signed an executive order to cut off funding to sanctuary jurisdictions, the Prince George's county executive defiantly stated, "It doesn't matter what President Trump says… We're not changing; we're not afraid of what the president has said…"
And making matters worse, the Maryland legislature is set to pass a bill that would make Maryland a sanctuary state. Maryland State Senator Victor Ramirez (D- Prince George's) has introduced the "Maryland Trust Act". The legislation would prohibit police officers from questioning victims and those arrested about their citizenship or place of birth. It would also bar local law enforcement from assisting in immigration enforcement operations. The legislation has a companion bill in the House, which has already passed.
Gov. Larry Hogan has indicated he will veto the legislation, should it reach his desk.
The recent alleged rape of a young 14 year-old girl by two men, Henry E. Sanchez 18, of Guatemala and Jose O. Montano, 17, from El Salvador, in Rockville's Montgomery High School, has further exacerbated the situation. Many Marylanders are only now realizing they already live in sanctuary community.
Gov. Hogan should hold firm on his promise to veto the sanctuary legislation, and go further by demanding that all counties in Maryland enforce federal immigration law. If Hogan needs a hook, he can point to the new FBI headquarters proposal and note that losing its bid could mean, from the state legislature's a forfeiture of millions in tax revenue to the state.
Even if the bill fails, there is absolutely no reason the FBI headquarters should be located in a sanctuary county like Prince George's. The Trump Administration should reopen the search for a new location for the FBI headquarters.
Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning, a Maryland resident, noted in a statement, "President Trump promised to defund sanctuary cities and counties in his Jan. 25 executive order, and Prince George's County should be automatically disqualified from consideration for building the FBI headquarters. It would simply be inappropriate to locate the nation's preeminent law enforcement agency in a community that refuses to support the rule of law, particularly given Trump's ban on federal dollars going to sanctuary jurisdictions."
Manning added, "Prince George's opposition to immigration law enforcement should not be rewarded with a giant development and jobs program which would dump millions of dollars in tax revenue into county coffers. Any other sanctuary jurisdictions should similarly be disqualified."
Surely, somewhere in America, a locality can be found that actively — and not just grudgingly — supports the enforcement of our immigration laws. A community that respects the constitution and rule of law deserves to house the FBI, not a community that flouts federal law.
