George Soros and German Media

Mark Musser

While Russian political tampering concerns dominate news headlines, one area of concern that has been overlooked for many decades is Germany’s mounting influential power over media, academia, and/or book publishing, something which Dr. Robert E. Kaplan of Jerusalem calls "soft power” in his illuminating book titled The Soros Connection, https://www.amazon.com/Soros-Connection-Robert-Kaplan-ebook/dp/B01LXC2CNL where he demonstrates the very real possibility that George Soros is a political and economic wrecking ball working as a foreign agent for the German state. Dr. Kaplan received his Ph.D. in history from Cornell University. He was heavily influenced by historian Edward Whiting Fox.

Around 2000, Kaplan began noticing that Germany and German based trusts, foundations, and publishers, etc. seemed to have developed a habit of sending grants to Holocaust research projects. While some of this was most certainly done to help ease the problem of Holocaust guilt, there was too much altruism to be credible. The more Kaplan investigated, the more skeptical he became of Germany’s philanthropy -- all with a seemingly limitless supply of money. Kaplan then noticed that similar German funding and/or gifting had been a longstanding practice for well over 100 years, including strong ties to yellow journalism together with the meteoric rise of both the Hearst and Newhouse media empires in New York. Further, Kaplan submits evidence of strong German financial connections to the Rockefellers, Carnegies, J.P. Morgan, and the Ford Foundation. All this strongly suggested to Kaplan a coordinated effort of German government policy. Worse, German media has a very poor historical record relative to the freedom of the press precisely because of its close ties to the state going all the way back to the beginning of the Second Reich in 1871, when Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898) exerted authoritarian control over what was printed. While the interwar years was concerned with whitewashing German war guilt from World War I, the aftermath of World War II was preoccupied with saving face following the terrors of the Holocaust.

In an article titled, "The German Problem,” the late syndicated columnist William Safire wrote, "I bridle at German book publishing hegemony. Few Americans realize that two German Gesellschaften are gaining stranglehold on US books.” http://www.ecofascism.com/review40.html Thus, the German media influences Kaplan writes about is also tied up with book publishing as well. Holtzbrinck Publishers and Bertelsmann control most of the big name publishing houses and a sizable market share of all the books produced in the United States. Bertelsmann is a media colossus that has been described as a "state within a state.” Bertelsmann played no small role https://pjmedia.com/blog/what-bertelsmann-wants-from-obama/ in the dramatic rise of both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/04/bill_clintons_30_million_germa.html
https://pjmedia.com/blog/german-publishings-man-in-the-white-house/

Kaplan writes that in the past 20-25 years, both Bertelsmann and Holztzbrinck have done an admirable job of publishing any number of different books that share Holocaustic blame and guilt with other players and participants in different countries in order to help launder Germany’s history. Both Bertelsmann and Holtzbrinck also have substantial Nazi pedigrees in their past. Bertelsmann is controlled by the Mohn family, who had a strong pro-Nazi history in the 1930s and 40s. Today the Mohns are active environmentalists who belong to the ultra-green Club of Rome. Scientific American and Nature magazines are owned by Holtzbrinck.

Kaplan then goes on to show how George Soros parrots virtually the same agenda that Germany and its media allies have been peddling for years. In particular, Soros mimicked Germany’s desire to break up Yugoslavia in the 1990s. Initially, only Germany wanted to break up the Balkans. President Clinton followed suit. The U.S. and Europe thus sided with the Albanian Muslims in both Bosnia and Kosovo. While Milosevich was no saint, the Bosnian/Albanian Muslims were/are not much better. During World War II, they fought on the same side as the SS and were Nazi collaborators. Kaplan is also convinced that the Balkanization of Yugoslavia was the first salvo of what is today called the Arab Spring, in order to help resurrect some form of the old Ottoman Empire. Germany and Turkey were allies in World War I. After Serbia was bombed in the Bosnian War, the USA then lost Russia, which is at the very heart of the crisis now fomenting in Ukraine. Is it not possible that much of the vitriol over Russia right now in the media is being largely promoted by German concerns?

Soros was infamously known for being the man who broke the bank of England in the early 1990s. According to Kaplan, Soros had inside information from the German government as he used the mark to make a killing involvong deliberate currency manipulation that hit England particularly hard. Soros has since used that incredible haul to make even more money, usually at the hefty expense of other nations. He then uses his profits to heavily influence and manipulate politics worldwide, particularly in America.

The first time we hear of Soros was in 1944 Budapest, Hungary. Thanks to the protective efforts of his father, Tivadar, Soros worked with a Nazi godfather to help locate and shake down fellow Jews of their belongings before they were shipped off to Auschwitz. Soros alleges his father put him in that position to shield him from the Nazis, but it becomes very difficult not to presume that Tivadar had strong connections with the Judenrat in Budapest. The Judenrat were Jewish councils that the Nazis set up all over Europe to force them to do their dirty work for them. The Judenrat were placed in charge of the ghettos that housed the Jews in horrific conditions. While many of the Judenrat tried to serve the best they could with what was forced upon them, some actually enjoyed the virtual godlike powers that were granted. How Soros’s father related to all this is unknown. What is known is that Soros himself, though a Jew and a free man, constantly works against Zionism and pro-Jewish policies today.

According to Pamela Geller, there is a dossier on Soros that http://pamelageller.com/2006/10/soros_and_the_n.html/ alleges previous strong connections between Soros and Francois Genoud (1915-1996)https://datacide-magazine.com/francois-genoud/, the Swiss Nazi banker who helped bankroll the Third Reich and was later flush with Holocaust cash after the war. Genoud used Nazi money to lay the foundation stones for Islamic terrorism during the early 1970s. http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/11/the_german_menace_of_islamofascism.html Many also believe Genoud was the very founder of the international Al Taqwa Bank in Switzerland that was directed by a neo-Nazi Islamicist by the name of Ahmad Huber, originally Albert Huber, who was a Swiss convert to Islam. This bank supposedly helped sponsor Osama bin Laden and was shut down after the 9/11 terrorist attacks for aiding and abetting both Al Qaeda and Hamas. Italian security dubbed it, "The Bank of the Muslim Brotherhood.” Many today complain of the infiltration of the Muslim Brotherhood into various branches of the U.S. government.
https://counterjihadreport.com/history-of-muslim-brotherhood-penetration-of-the-u-s-government/

While more than a few will look at Dr. Robert Kaplan’s assessment of Soros with incredulity, it is highly unlikely that even a rich, powerful man like Soros could have such a dominating influence over world affairs without state sponsorship of his activities. Even Bill O’Reilly once called Soros, "Blofeld.” In the original Ian Fleming James Bond series, Blofeld was in charge of an underground, but very rich and powerful semi-fascist terrorist organization of sorts called Spectre.

Mark Musser is a part-time pastor, author, missionary, and a farmer who lives in Olympia, Washington. He is a contributing writer for the Cornwall Alliance. His book Nazi Oaks provides a sobering history lesson on the philosophical foundations of the early German green movement, which was absorbed by National Socialism in the 1930s that proved to be a powerful undercurrent during the holocaust. Mark is also the author of Wrath or Rest which is a commentary on the warning passages found in the epistle to the Hebrews.

War!

Jack Kemp forwards this:

This Is War
Derek Hunter

Republicans never have been particularly good at the culture war. Sure, they won battles here and there. But even most of those victories turned into losses through court decisions anyway.
Now we’re in the midst of the ultimate battle in the culture war – the battle for the First Amendment – and if Republicans don’t recognize this is a war and fight like their existence depends on victory, nothing else will matter.
If you had told me five years ago that, in 2017, we’d be debating the nature of free speech and whether American citizens could be blocked from speaking on the campus of a public university because of their politics, I would’ve laughed in your face. But then, I would have had the same reaction if you had told me Donald Trump would be president in 2017, so clearly nothing is impossible.
It’s easy to dismiss the violent mobs in Berkeley, Portland, Washington, D.C., and everywhere else as a "fringe element” because there are relatively few of them and their actions are fringe. But the fringe of the political left is the tail wagging the progressive dog called the Democratic Party.
The most popular Democrat in the party is a slouching, cranky, unkempt septuagenarian who publicly and proudly refuses to call himself a Democrat. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont happily criticized the party when he toured the country with its new chairman on a so-called "unity tour.” Crowds even booed the chairman but cheered the self-described socialist.

Don't miss the rest!

Trouble in River City; Man, Superman, and Lizardman

Jack Kemp

Robert Arvay recently wrote a piece (can't find the origina groupl but believe it is a blog piece) called Are Liberals Hopelessly Irrational. Here below is the link to it, followed by an exchange of opinoin comments by a few readers, including myself, where I make a comparison of liberals to a famous musical character: Professor Harold Hill of "The Music Man."

The irrationality of liberals is based entirely on their self-anointing whatever they wish themselves to be.
For example, leftists, liberals, and other assorted collectivists take it as fact that their approach to implementing utopia will work this time.
They take is as fact that they are smarter, more educated, and more clever than any of their predecessors - e.g., Mao Zedong - and therefore they will implement utopia correctly this time.
It's not that they have learned from their predecessors. It's that they self-anoint as smarter, more educated, and more clever than any of their predecessors and therefore deserve to be in control.
Remember: all this kind of "taking as fact" is entirely self-anointed.
So, they take their theory about utopia, insinuate and anoint themselves into being "more equal than others," and then they attempt to implement it.
Typically and unfortunately, they find that they need to bend reality to implement their utopia - e.g., Mao's Cultural Revolution, Hitler's Third Reich - but the consequences of their attempting to so are typically horrific.
Millions are re-educated, taken as slaves, or simply removed from earthly existence.
Perhaps liberals, leftists, and other assorted collectivists are irrational. Perhaps they are rational.
But whatever the case, the consequences of their attempts to implement their utopia are, in virtually all cases, horrific and deadly.

I have a bit of a different take on it. It has never occurred to me that the left actually BELIEVES that doing failures over and over will bring success. I believe they "THINK" they can force their beliefs to work, no matter how insane it is. The political left is about NOTHING BUT FORCE. They try to force everyone to think the same way, which is to say they try to force everyone NOT TO THINK, but merely perform. They try to force people to vote solely for the left. They try to embarrass and shame those who have different opinions from them. They try to force all of us to enjoy and embrace their decadence and embarrassment. They want all of us to share their failures and deny any successes WE have. To deny our successes, they feel they must DESTROY that success. They are as loony as loony gets with few exceptions.

JackKemp replies to Tasine • a day ago
Yes, the Left is not so much about believing in a Utopia as it is about Leftists believing they can get over on (i.e., fool) a new bunch of people not so "sophisticated" (read as: manipulative) as they are. Like Professor Harold Hill in the musical "The Music Man," they believe they can run their scam, collect their money (votes, taxes, etc.) - and catch the next train out of town before the goods they promised will never be delivered on the due date. In the theatrical story, Harold Hill got bailed out by his girlfriend but there aren't enough such voluntary donators to go around to cover underfinanced (or totally nonfinanced) political promises.

Tasine replies to JackKemp • a day ago
Harold Hill -great analogy!! The difference in Harold Hill and today's progs is that Harold did not strive to force, violently if that 's what it took, others to see everything HIS way. He was a flim flam no account, but not psychotic and not a loser.....he had some soft emotions - progs seem to be missing all soft emotions and all graciousness, such as empathy, sympathy, love, respect, responsibility, honesty, etc.

Leftist obviously suffer from arrested development of the prefrontal cortext --- the executive control center of the brain.
They also demonstrate an imbalance of the autonomic nervous system, in which the sympathetic branch has become overactive, activating fear, flight or flight, and freeze responses, with under-activity in the corrective parasympathetic system. This is explains the predominance of reptilian emotions and the emotionalized "logic" and irrationality.
Leftists are reptilian "thinkers."
For a complete explanation, see POLYVAGAL THEORY.

The Sorcerers

Timothy Birdnow

"Against that positivism which stops before phenomena, saying "there are only facts," I should say: no, it is precisely facts that do not exist, only interpretations"

Frederich Nietzsche

"we now have a situation in which everybody's listening to people who already agree with them and are further and further reinforcing their own realities to the neglect of a common reality that allows us to have a healthy debate"

Barack Obama 4/24/17

http://www.elle.com/culture/career-politics/news/a44738/president-obama-university-of-chicago-transcri

Barack Hussein Obama has returned from his Society Island soirée ready to take on the world, and the former President gave a speech in which he yet again trashed his political opponents for refusing to accept the scripted talking points issued by the mainstream media. Mr. Obama, who has made "common facts" his crusade of late, tore into the divisions of opinion that splinter the modern landscape. This isn't the first time, either; in his farewell address to the nation Mr. Obama railed against the alternative media:

http://www.turnto23.com/news/local-news/president-barack-obama-to-give-farewell-speech-in-chicago

"For too many of us, it's become safer to retreat into our own bubbles, whether in our neighborhoods or college campuses or places of worship or our social media feeds, surrounded by people who look like us and share the same political outlook and never challenge our assumptions. The rise of naked partisanship, increasing economic and regional stratification, the splintering of our media into a channel for every taste - all this makes this great sorting seem natural, even inevitable. And increasingly, we become so secure in our bubbles that we accept only information, whether true or not, that fits our opinions, instead of basing our opinions on the evidence that's out there."

So now Obama has become the champion of objective truth over relativism. Strange; it is the Progressive Left that has championed moral and cultural relativism for decades, and has promoted the very thing Mr. Obama is complaining about now, namely, the balkanization of society via multiculturalism.

The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy has this to say about Multiculturalism:

https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/multiculturalism/

"While the term has come to encompass a variety of prescriptive claims, it is fair to say that proponents of multiculturalism reject the ideal of the "melting pot” in which members of minority groups are expected to assimilate into the dominant culture in favor of an ideal in which members of minority groups can maintain their distinctive collective identities and practices."

And yet Obama and the other liberals who have foisted this balkanizing influence on America now complain at their own success; having marginalized conservatives and white Christian people, they are angry that said group refuses to endure the domination of Progressive culture. They want it both ways; allow any minority group to exercise their own cultural and moral authority in any way they choose but demand obedience from the majority. And we ARE the majority; only 24% of the populace self identifies as liberal. http://www.gallup.com/poll/180452/liberals-record-trail-conservatives.aspx

Multiculturalism has always been closely tied to the concept of Moral and cultural relativism. We should embrace all cultures, we have been told repeatedly, because all are equally valid, and our view of reality is inextricably tied to our point of view.

That was the argument of Protagoras (circa 450 B.C.) who stated:

"The measure of ‘truth’ is the viewpoint of the man himself"

Plato soundly destroyed this argument as a thing cannot be the proof of itself, and if a man's reality is dependent on his viewpoint then this very argument has no concrete reality. And so matters stood until the 19th Century when Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) came along to deny the ability of Man to perceive reality. Kant wasn't a relativist but believed we can only know things through our limited senses and that a higher reality was completely beyond our grasp. Enter the Germans. Indeed, most bad ideas have sprung from Germany, and Relativism is no exception. Nietzsche was at the core of this, arguing against rationality which he thought was unknowable. Actually, Nietzsche made a great case for religion, but having leapt from the precipice of a failed reason alone he refused to grasp the cliff on the other side and plummeted into the bottomless pit. His embrace of nihilism led to his ultimate insanity and death, yet Germany embraced much of his thinking and in the end it was his moral relativism that gave us the Third Reich. When one disdains Reason and disparages God he has no choice but to create his own - and that generally means placing himself on the throne. That is at the roots of modern Progressivism.

Quantum mechanics gave Relativism a big leg up, as The Copenhagen Interpretation http://abyss.uoregon.edu/~js/21st_century_science/lectures/lec15.html said that the observer is the vital component to "collapsing the wavefront" and determining the observed position of subatomic particles. (their actual position is a probability.) Actually, Niels Bohr argued it went further, and that the macro world was subject to the phenomenon as well. This led Edwin Schrödinger to create his famous cat in the box experiment,https://www.sciencedaily.com/terms/schrodinger%27s_cat.htm not to simply explain Copenhagen but to criticize it. But the Copenhagen people simply said "exactly!" and that was that. Needless to say, the "reality is subjective" mantra got a big push forward by Quantum physics in the minds of those who did not understand it.

And Sigmund Freud, perverted father of liberal libertinism, was soundly in the relativist camp. Freud argued that God was nothing but an infantile desire for a father figure, which means there is no objective moral code.

But it was in the Progressive invented science of anthropology that relativism really took off. Franz Boas and his protégé' Margaret Mead had a profound impact on the thinking of the Progressive era, as did Ruth Benedict. All argued for the moral equality of every culture. That a cultural practice may make sense but is reprehensible seemed to elude them. Slavery makes eminent good sense in a society with limited resources, but it is morally depraved. Cannibalism expands your food supply and thus makes a certain amount of sense, but it likewise is a depravity and a disease vector.

I find it quite interesting to note that anthropologist Richard A. Shweder of Osama’s very own University of Chicago continues to promote deep cultural relativism.

So what's the point? Simply that the intellectual engines of modern liberals is intertwined with a denial of a concrete reality but rather a vision of a society splintered and divided into compartmentalized reality. Why does this fable exist in their minds? Because, like Lucifer (the being Osama’s hero Saul Alinsky dedicated his book Rules for Radicals to) the Left seeks to make themselves gods.

Doubt that? What is "transgenderism" other than a complete denial of reality? It is a simple refusal to accept that God made them male or female, to insist on the right to decide this ourselves. It is precisely what Nietzsche meant by the Superman, the self-willed. It is the sin of the Devil himself, an act of sorcery.

There are so many other examples of this; feminism, for example, seeks to overthrow the nature of male and female. Socialism seeks to overthrow the laws of economics. Gay marriage attacks the very heart of marriage and family, redefining it in strange and damaging ways. Liberals promote every sort of alternative religion because it helps to break down the traditional moral codes and beliefs of our culture. They ignore our laws and Constitution because they want no check on their power and authority to determine the meaning of reality. In schools liberals teach children there are no right or wrong answers.

In short, they demand the right to determine the nature of reality. That is the sin of sorcery.

And Barack Obama promoted all of these things and more when he was president, so it is not just a little disingenuous of him to be angry at our "different facts". The reality is that the Left has been using alternative facts for decades now, promoting strange and novel ideas as "settled science". Global Warming, for instance, has not a shred of scientific proof (with no planetary warming since 1998, at least) and yet we are told it's settled and need to accept the liberal prescriptions. Climate science continually fakes data and we are told WE are the problem! Liberals promote such preposterous claims as 25% of college women will be raped on campus, http://www.campussafetymagazine.com/article/Sexual-Assault-Statistics-and-Myths or that Muslims are the victims of racial violence in America, or that there are constant microaggressions against people of color by a racist America. Mike Brown was murdered by a racist for walking while black. The list goes on and on.

Meanwhile the left-wing media simply spikes stories it doesn't like. For example, it took Matt Drudge to report on Monica Lewinsky back in the Clinton era, and the media completely ignored Hillary's multiple felonious violations during the last campaign.

Reality is what THEY determine it to be! But Barack Obama wants us to have common facts, yessiree.

In the end Barack Obama is a false god, the visible manifestation of the Progressive belief that Man is the measure of all things. False gods to not like to be contradicted.

No Applause Please!

Timothy Birdnow

When I was young it used to be said that California should be sawed off of the continent and allowed to float away (like the rest of the garbage). Well, Britain was sawed off of Europe long ago and it didn't help THEM any!

Here is more proof that jolly old Britain has lost her mind.

Apparently applauding is now considered a microaggression against those who are "silence enabled".

Maybe the Progs will take a page from their own book and shut the eh ee double hockey sticks up!

Trump's Ag Sec Promotes Illegal Invasions

Timothy Birdnow

According to Breitbart Trump's Secretary of Agriculture wants to protect illegal invaders' jobs on American farms.

From the article:

"Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue told an audience on Friday that he’s pressing Trump to allow farmers and food processors to keep employing cheap illegal-alien manual labor. Trump "understands that there are … undocumented immigrant laborers, out here on the farms, many of them that are doing a great job, contributing to the economy of the United States,” Perdue said April 28, according to a report in Harvest Public Media.

Sending the illegal-immigrant workers home "is not his focus nor will that be my focus,” Perdue added.

Breitbart has asked the department’s press office for clarification of Perdue’s comments.

Perdue has also used his authority as the new agriculture secretary to bring in a labor lawyer from the industry’s trade association, the American Farm Bureau Federation, according to Harvest Public Media. Perdue continued: "

End excerpt.

And this at a time when American farms are developing new high tech ways to circumvent the use of stoop labor by migrant workers.

I predicted this.

Back in 2006 I penned an article for American Thinker in which I compared the cheap migrant labor of illegals with the Antebellum economic doldrums of the plantation economy of the South. The slave economy, I argued, led to stagnation and poverty as the cheap labor costs eliminated jobs for non-slave laborers and stifled innovation. I predicted that the cheap Latino labor would (and was) have the same effect on America. I stated:

"You see, Illegal immigration has a retarding effect on the development of greater efficiency in the industries where illegals dominate. One of the arguments for tolerating illegal immigration is that we will pay more for food.

This may be true in the short term, but I would like to point out that the availability of cheap labor provides a disincentive to mechanization which, ultimately, could drive cost down even further. Would wheat farmers in Kansas, or corn farmers in Iowa have such enormous, highly productive farms if America had always had dirt—cheap labor? There would never have been an incentive to develop modern farm equipment, and the farm production would be a fraction of what it is today. America would not feed the world if the amber waves of grain had to be hand—cultivated. Economic need drove the development of the technology needed to cultivate huge tracts of land. Cheap labor would have kept America's farmers doing things the old fashioned way because it would have been cheaper in the short term.

One need only look at history to see that this is true; the antebellum South had plenty of cheap labor to work plantations (both slave and poor white Southerners), and this plantation economy sapped all of the vitality right out of Old Dixie. The free states were the ones to prosper; it was there that industry developed, farms flourished, businesses thrived. Mines, railroads, shops and stores sprang like weeds from the fertile soil of the American spirit because free men work harder for themselves than for others, and necessity dictated that those men find new, better ways to do things."

End excerpt.

This was true of the Roman Empire, which failed to develop past a slave/muscle powered economy despite the invention of the steam engine and some other wonderful technology. The government suppressed these developments because they could not afford to de-employ the slaves. In short, the Industrial Revolution was delayed almost two millennia because of a political decision that stemmed from the unfortunate practice of employing cheap labor.

Again from the Breitbart article:

"There a lot of other farmers going into robots … and a lot of them are smaller dairy farmers who want to maintain quality of life” Foster told Breitbart News. "I would say the labor [shortage] is the big thing, and for some people, it is quality of life — the young people of today just don’t want to work the same kind of hours as we grow up working,” she added. "

End excerpt.

So robotics is revolutionizing the American farm. This is not a new development, as tractors, tilling machines, irrigation, pumps, and a host of other labor-saving devices have made America into the world's bread basket. Just a tiny fraction of the populace is now engaged in farming and yet we produce far more than we ever did. Why? It's not that we have better stoop labor.

To promote illegal immigrant labor is akin to promoting a return to the steam engine railroad as a primary means of transportation. Yes it worked in its day, but its day has passed.

That is the difference between America and under or undeveloped countries; we innovate, they preserve. It really is that simple, And necessity is the mother of invention. By flooding the country with cheap labor we make food cheaper, but at the ultimate cost of innovation and experimentation.

That won't happen without the impetus of competition, which won't happen as long as businesses can hire lawbreakers. And as long as that labor is needed it will have to remain underpaid, or it has no value. The end result is either we keep a shadow economy or we bring the illegals out of the shadows and grant them the protections given by American law - such as minimum wage, OSHA, and all the other things that drive up labor costs. In the end the labor has no greater value than native born, so we have to bring in a whole new crop of illegals. This is a machine, and one the Democrats want because it gives them eternal power, but it shafts everyone else.

In the end it is a terrible idea to artificially depress wages. I can't imagine why Trump would appoint someone who promotes this.

Christians Sound the Trumpet in Indiana

The Christians Strike Back
By Peter Heck | April 29, 2017, 04:45am

A very significant court challenge in the state of Indiana is starting to get more national attention, and that will likely only increase once the hearing officially takes place.

For years Christian business owners have faced withering assaults on their rights of conscience by the LGBT political lobby and their pawns in both state legislatures and city councils around the country. Passing Orwellian named "non-discrimination” or "human rights” statutes, activists empower the government to put a gun to the head of business owners, forcing them to participate in otherwise voluntary ceremonies, even when it constitutes a violation of their religious conscience.
While Christian ministers have largely had their rights of conscience respected and protected (to this point), Christian florists, bakers, musicians, and photographers have not been so fortunate.

But in Indiana, a group of pro-family Christians decided to push back, appealing to Article 1, Section 3 of the Indiana State Constitution that says:

"No law shall, in any case whatever, control the free exercise and enjoyment of religious opinions, or interfere with the rights of conscience”

The Indiana Family Institute and the American Family Association of Indiana have filed suit against several cities and municipalities there, as well as against the state legislature, for their so-called "human rights” laws that blatantly offend this constitutional provision by actually punishing people for not believing the way the LGBT movement says they should believe.

Sad veeteran author news

Jack Kemp

The author of New York Times bestseller "Until Tuesday," the story of his Iraq military service, his injuries and his later getting a great service dog named "Tuesday" has written his last follow up book which will be published in May. His new book is about his travels around the country meeting veterans raising awareness about PTSD and service dogs.

I recently found out that author U.S. Army Captain (ret.) Luis Carlos Mantalvan has committed suicide before the publication of his new book, detailed below. May his soul find Peace.

From the Amazon author page for Capt. Mantalvan:

LUIS CARLOS MONTALVÁN is an international award-winning New York Times bestselling author, speaker, and advocate. TUESDAY is his beloved service dog and recipient of the 2013-14 American Kennel Club Award for Canine Excellence.

A 17-year veteran of the U.S. Army, Captain Montalván served multiple tours abroad and was decorated with numerous awards including two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor, and the Combat Action Badge. In 2007, Montalván honorably departed the military and in 2010 completed a master's of science from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.

Tuesday's Promise: One Veteran, One Dog, and Their Bold Quest to Change Lives Hardcover – May 9, 2017
by Luis Carlos Montalvan (Author), Ellis Henican (Author)

Following the success of his New York Times bestseller, Until Tuesday, Iraq War veteran Luis Carlos Montalván took to the road with his beloved Golden Retriever service dog, Tuesday, to advocate for America's wounded warriors and for each other.

Luis's first book sparked a national conversation about service dogs and PTSD. In this spectacular new memoir, he and Tuesday brought their healing mission to the next level, showing how these beautifully trained animals can assist soldiers, veterans, and many others with disabilities. They rescued a forgotten Tuskegee airman, battled obstinate VA bureaucrats, and provided solace to troubled war heroes coast-to-coast. Everywhere these two went, they highlighted the miraculous talents of service dogs.

As Luis and Tuesday celebrated exhilarating victories, a grave obstacle threatened to derail their life-saving campaign: though Luis had made great progress battling his own PTSD, his physical wounds left him wheelchair-bound. He was forced to decide whether to amputate his leg and carry on with a bionic prosthesis. Even as he struggled with this dramatic decision, he and ten-year-old Tuesday prepared to welcome a female Golden Retriever puppy to their all-male pack.

As this stirring memoir neared publication, Luis Montalván took his own life in December 2016, another terrible tragedy of the invisible wounds of war. This book is his last letter of love to his best friend, Tuesday, and to veterans, readers, friends, and fellow dog lovers everywhere.

Never more timely than now, TUESDAY'S PROMISE is an inspiring story of love, service, teamwork, and the remarkable bond between humans and canines.

"Cherokee Lizzy" Warren Selling P#^$y Headdresses

Jack Kemp

sorry for the vulgarity but it is author Christine Rousselle's, not mine.
You have to go to the website to see all the comments, including ones that say the hats are ugly, the print is unreadable, the ears are poorly made, and you don't sell wool hats in springtime.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/christinerousselle/2017/04/28/sen-warren-is-selling-she-persisted-pussyhats-n2319886?utm_source=thdaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&newsletterad=

Welp, I guess this was inevitable. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who was barred from speaking in February after she attempted to read a letter from Coretta Scott King against then-Sen. Jeff Sessions, is now selling merchandise emblazoned with the "nevertheless, she persisted" slogan. Including a pussyhat.
Yup:

Of course, people on the right rolled their eyes at this (decently belated) cash grab:

Energy Policy Seen through Bituminous Colored Glasses

Timothy Birdnow

Here is an article I find tough to swallow. Richard Zuber makes the argument that America should remain in the Paris Accord because it benefits coal producers here in the States. I don't follow his logic at all.

Here is the crux of it:

"But putting emotions aside, in an unexpected and ironic twist, the COP21 presents an opportunity for coal to beat Obama at his own game. And this is exactly what is happening. America’s largest players in the coal and oil industries, including Cloud Peak and Exxon Mobil, have reversed their opposition to the deal and have advised Trump to remain within the framework, arguing that it is better to be part of the club and help steer policy rather than excluding oneself from the debate.

Indeed, the Trump White House and American coal producers can use their participation in international talks on the future of the world’s energy mix to promote the development of high efficiency, low-emission (HELE) coal-fired power plants and carbon capture storage (CSS) technology. All major international bodies agree on this point: the goals of the COP21 cannot be implemented without upgrading coal plants. As such, implementing the accord could turn the U.S. into a global clean coal leader, save thousands of jobs in the process, and ensure the continuation of an industry worth billions of dollars to the country’s economy."

End excerpt.

This is wrong on so many levels.

First, Cloud Peak Energy is a Wyoming-based company producing low sulfur subbituminous coal. They have a clear vested interest in maintaining the Paris Accords because it forces the higher sulfur coal regions (like West Virginia or Pennsylvania) out of the market. Oh, and Cloud Peak has joined the Global Warming crusade. (Granted, so has Peabody and Arch.) Mr. Zuber should rather have asked Peabody Energy or Arch Coal what THEY think rather than the winner of the "who wants to stay in the coal business" lottery. Exxon Mobile is an oil company, too, and would obviously want to keep coal from coming back to compete with oil and natural gas. OF COURSE these two companies want to keep Paris intact.

Second, what is an accord (we can't call it a treaty) intended to do? It is a series of restrictions, of regulations, a body of pseudo-laws designed to limit and contract. An agreement of this nature can be manipulated to the benefit of some but at the expense of others; it does not promote open market prosperity. That is precisely what it is designed to do; force people to sell less coal, not more. Any time you limit the supply you raise the demand, making the product more expensive. This may benefit some investors (such as at Peak) but it hurts the average worker, and it hurts the average consumer who has to pay more for electricity as a result. This is crony capitalism at its most onerous.

And the deal will only last as long as the U.S. - the world's largest coal reserve - continues to play the restriction game. Unleash American coal and the cartel naturally falls apart. The whole purpose of this was to get America OUT of the coal business, not into it. Saying we should stay in is daft from any perspective but the Environmentalist and the crony capitalist.

As I say, I just don't understand Mr. Zuber's reasoning here; how does restricting coal production promote coal and save coal companies? There is no real incentive to develop true clean coal technology if you are restricting the use of the lower sulfur coal, after all. Why bother? Necessity is the mother of invention, not government programs and grants. If there is really a demand for "clean coal" the market will develop it - not an international accord.

Mr. Trump owes his Presidency in no small part to the good folks in coal country, and if he reneges on this he will lose those Reagan Democrats to the Donkeys as Bush did after Reagan left office. Trump made a promise. He promised to tear up these horrible international deals designed primarily to screw America. Coal miners weren't the only ones in this part of the country to vote for Trump; people who hate the encroachment of internationalism did also. Those who saw these deals as hurting free trade did too. Trump has already retreated on several promises he made, including prosecuting Hillary, repealing Obamacare, and stopping the influx of Syrian refugees (Trump has taken in twice as many as Obama ever did, and that has nothing to do with his temporary travel ban.) He's talking about reforming NAFTA, not tearing it up. He's moving into the position of a globalist. If he fails to tear up the Paris Accord he will have morphed into Jeb Bush with bad hair.

It will be the finish of him politically.

From any angle this is a terrible idea. These types of accords have one purpose - to restrain the American economy and to siphon American wealth to other countries. Like the plover, those little birds that land inside the mouths of crocodiles and eat the flesh from between the predator's teeth, Third World countries seek to scavenge off the American diet. They don't like to simply act as dental floss for the American croc, but want a bigger share of what America is eating. They don't want to have to make the necessary reforms to produce it themselves (as Japan did after first contact with the U.S.) but prefer to simply swindle it from us. How do you swindle vast sums of wealth and reduce competition so you can make money with inferior capabilities? You impose regulations. That is the purpose of all these deals and only a sucker would fall for it.

I have thought many bad things of Mr. Trump, but never that he was a sucker. I hope he doesn't fall for this nonsense.

St. Bernard to the Rescue?

Brian Birdnow

Once upon a time, many decades, if not centuries ago, the Monastic Orders in the Swiss Alps used trained St. Bernard dogs to assist in the rescue of endangered travelers. Today, if public opinion polls and journalistic puff pieces are any indication, we are in for an encore performance of St. Bernard to the rescue. This time, however, the beneficiary of the assistance will be the national Democratic Party, and the new St. Bernard will be Bernard of Burlington via Brooklyn, the inimitable Senator Bernie Sanders, D-Vermont.

The national media took a break last week from celebrating Bill O’Reilly’s fall and mocking President Trump’s allegedly meager accomplishments during his first three months in office. They centered, instead, upon the Democratic Party and its attempt to rebound from their historic, unexpected, and quite embarrassing loss last November 8. Much of the current commentary, as chronicled in these pages on Townhall, note the rough reception accorded to Tom Perez, the new DNC Chairman, on the so-called Democratic unity tour. Perez was jeered in Maine, booed in Florida, and heckled in Utah. His reception likely brought back memories of the ever-popular Jimmy Carter, and the halcyon days of the late 1970s. As Mr. Perez flounders, however, Senator Sanders waits in the wings, hoping for his moment, and many Democrats are with him. Yes, Bernie Sanders, who refuses to call himself a Democrat, has emerged as the most popular man in the Party, and might even be tabbed as the Democratic front-runner for the hopefully far-off 2020 election.
CARTOONS | Gary Varvel
View Cartoon

What is it about Bernie Sanders that delights, even thrills his throng of admirers? Certainly, the Senator’s drawbacks and liabilities are many. He is 75 years of age, quite a senior citizen by any standard of measurement. Many observers have noted that Senator Sanders also allows his temper to get the better of him, and that his irascible nature is somewhat unsettling. Finally, Senator Sanders's devotion to socialism, both in the theoretical and practical realm, might prove a tough sell to a nation that has historically had little use for the ideology.

Well, when we look closer at the weaknesses, we see that they aren’t insurmountable obstacles. President Ronald Reagan, in addition to his other myriad accomplishments, proved that a septuagenarian could handle the rigors of the presidency. In fact, it does seem rather quaint today to think that political figures pushing the 70-year mark would be considered too old for the job. When we reflect on the fact that President Trump is 70, and his former challenger, Hillary Clinton will celebrate that milestone birthday this October, we have to admit that the game has changed. We might further reflect on the fact that most of the Democratic bench, like Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and Chuck Schumer are all past social security eligibility age. Certainly, Senator Sanders may be pushing things, but he can expect a pass on the age issue from the media.

Sanders's irascible nature might be a hindrance, so his packagers will very likely try to turn a negative into a positive. They will portray him as a lovable, if somewhat curmudgeonly grandfather-like figure, who hides his heart of gold underneath a shell. The fact is, however, that Bernie Sanders is a cantankerous man who often uses a razor-sharp tongue to silence his opponents. This might play poorly on the national stage.

The third liability, namely socialism, might be the hardest square to circle for the Sanders acolytes. They may try to face this openly, but it is more likely that while Bernie claims to be a socialist, his Party will deny this reality behind a cascade of obfuscation, and mental calisthenics concerning the nature of socialism today. Many academics ignored Sanders' stated declaration at Georgetown University in the Fall of 2015 that he considered himself a democratic socialist, and an admirer of the Scandinavian-Nordic system. They have claimed that the Senator is actually something of a 1950s liberal of the Hubert Humphrey sort. Professor Noam Chomsky has said that Sanders, despite his protestations to the contrary, is actually an "honest New Dealer”. Maybe, but one must not put too much stock in what one liberal might call other liberals. We must remember, after all, that liberals told us that Castro, and later the Sandinistas were not Marxist-Leninists, but simple agrarian reformers.

Whether he is a socialist or not, Sanders has built a following on the far left wing of the Democratic Party. His stump speeches consist largely of platitudes such as equality, evil financial institutions, and much bigger government. When pressed on specifics, the Senator tosses bouquets in the direction of student loan forgiveness, free college, a $15.00 per hour minimum wage, single payer health care, and a vague call to banking reform, forgetting that the single accomplishment of the Sarbanes-Oxley bill, the last major banking reform bill of 2002, was to allow London to replace New York as the world’s financial capital. Sanders promises that this will be paid for by a special tax on millionaires, never mind that he is promising hundreds of billions in new spending. When this is mentioned in question-and-answer periods the person who brings it up is usually subjected to a diatribe of class hatred and abuse.

So, the Democrats need someone to take them back to the Promised Land, also known as the White House. They seem to be settling on Senator Bernie Sanders as the man for the job. Senator Sanders, with his many real liabilities may seem more of a Don Quixote, than a Moses. But, who, in 2013 would have predicted a President Donald J. Trump?

Woke Up with Wood; Biofuel-Powered Aircraft Carriers

Timothy Birdnow

Here is a bit of an older story I just came across. Turns out the British Navy is moving backwards, converting the HMS Prince of Wales to run on wood pellets! I kid you not.

From the article:

"In a widely anticipated move, it was announced today that one of Britain’s new aircraft carriers will be converted to run on wood pellets. The two new Queen Elizabeth class carriers, originally designed to be nuclear powered were allegedly converted to oil power early on in the design program to save money. It now comes as no surprise that THE Prince of Wales, well known for his eco-sensibility, has persuaded The Admiralty to go one step further towards a truly sustainable Royal Navy.

The Prince has also proposed that the deck of the super carrier be laid with solar panels to further boost the green arsenal of this fearsome weapon of war. The admiralty said they were looking at the proposal seriously while noting that in future Britain may have to only pick fights with sunny countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Solar won’t work in the S Atlantic

said Rear Admiral Sir Lord Chip Woodboard MBE CBE Knight of the Garter."

end excerpt.

Did you buy that? The key to good satire is to nibble on the edges of reasonableness, and frankly, the modern Green movement has gone pretty much this crazy. Take for example the fact that the U.S. Navy is now using biofuels to partially power aircraft carriers. Yes, the Navy actually intends to do this.

Oh, there are so many things that one would suspect were satire if we didn't know better. Consider the space shuttle Columbia disaster; it happened because NASA switched to "eco-friendly" insulation that did not adhere to the orbiter properly. See, they didn't wanto to pollute the air with the old tried-and-true insulation (reentry always burns some up) so they went Green with the result being the total destruction of Columbia. Of course they never really owned up to that. Or take wind farms, which act as huge food processors and chop up all manner of endangered birds and whatnot. Environmentalists cut water off to California's Imperial Valley, one of the richest farm regions on Earth, because some bait fish was not faring well downstream.

So if you fell for the first part of this it is easily forgiven; what the Gang Green is doing makes Swift appear to be a serious pragmatist.

Mizzou - an Object Lesson

Here is my blogpost from American Thinker a couple of days ago.

Timothy Birdnow

The University of Missouri Columbia (Mizzou) has witnessed a steep drop in enrollment in this year's class, leading the University to layoffs and budget cuts. According to the Columbia Tribune:

http://www.columbiatribune.com/8213453d-d9a1-5a51-a53e-81f080dc37de.html#

"The University of Missouri is unlikely to see a rebound in freshman enrollment in the fall, which means tuition revenue will not be the source of money to cover the latest round of state budget cuts.

A decline of more than 20 percent in this year’s incoming class forced layoffs, a hiring freeze and a 5 percent cut in general fund budgets across the Columbia campus. Overall enrollment, down 6 percent from the 2015-16 academic year, already was expected to decline further as the smaller freshman class moves toward graduation.

Gov. Eric Greitens on Monday ordered $146.4 million in new withholdings from state spending, including almost $20 million earmarked for MU. Provost Garnett Stokes and MU Faculty Council Chairman Ben Trachtenberg discussed how to deal with the new cuts during a Thursday council meeting."

Between budget cuts and the drop in enrollment there is a $20 million dollar deficit at Mizzou.

The situation is so bad Mizzou had to shut down three dorms. http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/04/06/mizzou-shuts-down-more-dorms-as-enrollment-continues-to-drop-drastically/

In usual academic myopia, the university is calling for the creation of a commission to determine exactly why enrollment is down and how to make up the shortfall.

Apparently it does not occur to the academics at Mizzou that parents are afraid to send their children to a school where professors threaten to beat up students. Remember Melissa "I needs some muscle over here" Click? Not only did she try to get students to beat up inconvenient student journalists, she was also caught on tape screaming like a maniac at a police officer. The University DID fire her, but she wound up getting a job at Gonzaga University, probably on a recommendation by Mizzou.

It also didn't help that Mizzou had ties to baby butchers Planned Parenthood, or that the University was the subject of a unionizing effort for adjuncts, the worker drones of academia, or that the school tabled health benefits for said adjuncts.

But the biggest problem of all was the racial terrorism of the 2015 race rampage season.

According to Lakeexpo.com:

http://www.lakeexpo.com/news/top_stories/mizzou-braces-for-enrollment-drop-in-wake-of-campus-discord/article_85de7110-cb62-11e5-9c41-931c3ddd4792.html

"Barbara Rupp, Mizzou’s director of admissions, sees cause for concern."

snip

"But Rupp also acknowledges that some of the projected declines are "undoubtedly part of the aftermath of last fall.”

In particular, recruiters working in the Chicago area are more frequently hearing the same concerns from prospective students, she said.

Those concerns are tied to the growing perception of Mizzou as a national symbol for strained race relations.

"Because those students are geographically removed from the campus, they don’t really have a sense of what’s going on and they are relying on what they are seeing and hearing in the media,” Rupp said. "And it’s not particularly positive.”

According to the university’s data, applications from out-of-state student have seen some of the sharpest declines. Among those students, deposits toward tuition are down 25 percent since last year.

But there are also barriers toward luring students from within Missouri, perhaps especially in rural areas"

End excerpt.

Outside of the media, academia is the only business in the world that can openly sneer at the customers and subvert their wishes and still expect to prosper. The gross mishandling of the bogus http://www.outkickthecoverage.com/is-the-entire-mizzou-protest-based-on-lies-111115 race protests (and there is every reason to believe the racial incidents that provoked these demonstrations were bogus) by school officials - and the unwillingness to put down bullying https://heatst.com/culture-wars/internal-emails-show-safety-fears-were-rampant-during-missouri-protests/ and thug tactics by student protesters - have rightly come back to haunt the Columbia campus.

Any decent parent would be crazy to send his or her child to such an unsafe and fascistic environment as Mizzou.

washed up Colin Kaepernick didn't even register to vote

Jack Kemp forwards this:

http://theresurgent.com/colin-kaepernick-blackballed-or-washed-up/
Colin Kaepernick – Blackballed or Washed Up?

Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall was very blunt regarding his opinion on the NFL and Colin Kaepernick: (Denver Post):

"Quarterbacks are usually the face of the franchise. So, he’s probably being blackballed,” Marshall said Tuesday. "Maybe part of it is owners don’t want their franchise tagged with that. But I still stand by what I said (on Twitter), that he’s the best quarterback in free agency. He’s better than all of those that got signed, the Matt Barkleys, the Nick Foleses. I think that’s a fair assessment, honestly.”

Brandon Marshall is a very good linebacker, but he really should stick to his day job, analysis seems out of his grasp.
Last year, Colin Kaepernick made the personal choice to kneel during the playing of our National Anthem. His stated reasons were to protest police brutality and the oppression of minorities everywhere. The public outrage was immediate and intense, lighting up social media and call in radio shows. Following the season, he’s made headlines again: (Sportschew.com):

Unfortunately, Colin has made headlines again more recently, but for all the wrong reasons. First, it was found out that he didn’t vote in this year’s election after preaching that everyone should do their part to produce change in the country. It was later discovered that he isn’t even registered to vote. His excuse was that it didn’t really matter who he voted for because the "whole system is oppressive”. And most recently, he’s been getting a lot of attention for wearing a shirt with Fidel Castro on it just 2 days after he died. What’s worse is that he did it while his team played in Miami, a city that has a very big Cuban population. When asked why he chose to wear the shirt, he said that he agreed with Castro’s stance on investing in education, universal healthcare and helping to end the apartheid in South Africa. He never once mentioned Castro’s heinous acts of oppression against his own people. How can he be against oppression and support an oppressor at the same time?

Kaepernick’s 2016 season was decidedly sub-par

Target's Israel Problem 2010

Jack Kemp

Since we are coming up on the 70th anniversary of the U.N. declaring Israel a state as the British Mandate of Palestine was partitioned by them, I recall this. Note the last lines of my article below this NBC story. The actual partition took place in a building that was not only part of the 1939 NY World's Fair but also was the NY City Pavillion in the 1964 World's Fair (today a Queens County art museum).
Jack
http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Palestine-Replaces-Israel-on-Globes-Sold-at-Target-82978522.html
Palestine Replaces Israel on Globes Sold at Target

"A rally of Jewish leaders took aim at Target stores Thursday for selling a globe that omits the name Israel but instead labels the region Palestine.
"It is a very serious thing, its not just a little mistake, we're seeing companies kowtowing to people who live in tyrannical governments who are trying to dictate policy here and dictate how people think and feel," said Rabbi Gary Moskowitz, who led the rally at Zuccotti Park on Liberty Street and Trinity Place in downtown Manhattan.

"We're fighting 'global war on terrorism,' and in this global war we have to 'target' the people who are coming against us," said Moskowitz. "I hope Target did this in error.. and they must have a recall of all these globes."
In a statement, a Target spokeswoman said: "It is never our intention to offend any of our guests and we apologize. We have removed the mini-globe from our shelves, and we are following up with our vendor."

They went on to say that, "The country is labeled on a key on the mini-globe; however, the important issue is that we are no longer selling this product in our stores and we are sorry for offending our guests.""

End excerpt.

Target's "Final Solution"

The NY Post's Andrea Peyser informs us that:
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/where_israel_did_get_wiped_off_map_qbXJETmT4RA4NuOHuxzeBI/1

It looks as if Iran has found allies in its quest to wipe Israel off the map -- the dopes at your friendly neighborhood Target store.

On sale exclusively at Target is this innocent-looking toy globe. Thousands of these trinkets have already moved out of malls, from Queens to Honolulu, and landed in living rooms and kids' rooms across America.

SECTION OMITTED

In the spot where Israel should be, this word is printed: "Palestine." Some of those who unwittingly purchased the Israel-free orbs feel as if they've played a role in a modern-day Final Solution.

"They're teaching kids there is no Israel, only Palestine," said Rabbi Gary Moskowitz, who bought a globe at the Queens Center Mall for his 5-year-old daughter. "This encourages terrorism. This foments hatred." END OF QUOTE

One small technical correction. Target's Queens store is in the Queens Place Mall, site of the old circular Macy's building that looks a bit like the Roman Coliseum. It is located several blocks west of the Queens Center Mall.

This is the culture and propaganda war writ large and brought to our shores.

Ironically, the Target store on Queens Boulevard is less than two miles from the former New York City Building at the 1939 World's Fair (now the Queens Art Center) in Flushing Meadow Park. That building was a temporary home for the United Nations General Assembly in 1948 and was the location where the UN voted (UN Resolution 181) to partition the British Mandate of Palestine into a Jewish State - Israel - and an Arab state we know now as Jordan.

The Dhimmi of Rome

Fay Voshell

The Church largely has failed in it's responsibility to consistently and seriously confront those who attack her. Syncretism has proved a deadly and debilitating virus.

Piss Christ, the portrait of Mary with excrement surrounding her; the constant attacks on her standards like same sex "marriage;" the near silence on the absolute reality of the binary nature of male and female...Here is where Church authorities should and could speak out more vigorously, including the pope. Yes, a few speak, but not enough.

Islamists outdo Christians in outrage. Not that we should imitate their intimidating and often deadly tactics, but where is the outrage? Weakness invites attacks.

I thought in view of our A team conversation on Kim Kardashian, you'd enjoy reading this article on the pope and his views on Islam.

Sad.
