Your faithful North-Central States editor is happy to report that although Timothy has been absent from these pages for a couple of days, it is for no more serious a problem than a computer glitch. I won't go into great specifics about it, but suffice to say that he's had to get a new computer, and as you may know, when that happens, all sorts of strange and wondrous things can happen. He phoned me tonight to chat about that (and other things) and said that the new computer worked fine for a couple of days and then the mouse cursor disappeared. Suffice to say that anything he tried was useless.
He and Cathy are settling in to their new apartment, along with a full-time nurse or two, and this means Cathy is getting considerably better care than she was at the "Halfway House from Hell" that she was previously incarcerated in. Tim didn't say whether he is cooking for the nurses, or they are cooking for him, or everyone is cooking for themselves. He didn't sound hungry, so I assume things are going well. There was a problem getting delivery of an essential medication for Cathy, which we aren't sure was due to the cut-over from the Halfway House, or the pharmacy running out due to the upcoming holiday, or the famous Birdnow bad luck, or what. I would certainly hope they get the problem cleared up by Tuesday.
I don't know when Tim's computer problems will be fixed, either. Meanwhile, I'll attempt to be your liaison between Tim and the world. I have to take my own wife on a little health journey to the Mayo Clinic on Wednesday, and maybe a follow-up on Friday -- nothing terribly serious, just diagnostics to try to finally nail down the source (and identity) of pesky lung infections that have put her in the hospital with pneumonia three times this year. Those trips will each take the better part of a day, but I should be back by the evening.
If any of you are traveling over the holiday, stay safe!

I had severe pneumonia requiring hospitalization three times in two years. I do have really bad lungs, but I remain convinced that what I really had was one case of pneumonia which was only partially defeated twice before they finally killed it on the third try.

It may be that, Bill. Or it may be as the doctors suspect with my wife, which is that when we moved to Minnesota in the 1990s, whatever causes pneumonia settled into her lungs and stayed instead of getting zapped by antibiotics, which she has a problem tolerating. The doctors have said that the little buggers tend to find "hiding places" in the lungs to settle into and breed if they aren't rooted out, and apparently that's the case with her. She's gotten pneumonia just about every year since -- and pneumonia shots put her in the hospital. This year she's been hospitalized for pneumonia three times, and the docs have finally gotten serious about doing something about it! Problem is that she's super-sensitive to just about every medication known to the medical profession.

Thanks for the update, Dana. Really glad to hear Cathy is getting proper care and that Tim spirits seem okay despite the tech chaos.
While waiting for the next news, I fired up the new PC build and installed YouTube Vanced, so I can keep a playlist of calming music and prayer streams running 24/7 with zero ads, background play, and no interruptions. It has been a small comfort having it on in the background while thinking of Tim and Cathy. Download link.
