She's Still Stayin' Alive

Timothy Birdnow

BTW when I got home from the hospital on Saturday (they had wanted to keep me in longer but I protested) my sister-in-law had some quiet, old music playing on Youtube on the television. I left it on for a long time but then couldn't take what they were playing anymore (which was becoming increasingly obscure stuff) and switched. There was a concert by the Bee Gees from decades ago and Cathy always liked that (even if it wasn't my cup of tea) so I put it on. She passed away to the disco sounds of the brothers Gibb - the music of her youth.

Cathy always loved music - all music. She no doubt was waiting for a song to die by and chose one from the Bee Gees. She was sixteen in '76, so it was truly the music of her time.

Cathy didn't get to dance much for the last few DECADES because of her health, but I can imagine her boogieing down as she danced off to Heaven to the groove of the kings of Disco...

1 Good thing you got home when you did! And found the station you did, too. Who knows if you might have landed on a station that was featuring, say, Kenny G? I'm certain you could have quickly changed the station away from THAT, though!

2 Amen Dana! Kenny G. is what they play when someone is destined for the 'tarnal flames, not Heaven.

Cathy leaving this world to the BeeGees was fitting and right with her sense of humor. I'm sure she waited until I put that on just so she could say she died to Disco.

God I am going to miss that woman!

3 This is a touching tribute. Cathy's love for music shines through. It's beautiful how she passed with the Bee Gees, a sound from her youth. Made me think of simpler times, like playing the snake game on an old phone, chasing that high score. Music and memories, so intertwined. Her spirit will live on through those songs.

4 Kristi Loron Thanks Kristi!  Yes, she passed in a way she would have wanted. I have no regrets about the manner of her death even if I am devastated by the fact of it.

God bless you!

Tim
