But the real kicker in all of this was how COVID-lockdowns have made us compartmentalize. The politicians have tried to convince us to shun the family, friends, and support groups we do get along with.

The amount of fear being spewed from the corporate media made families fight over who was invited to holiday parties, and who was the dirtiest among them, likely to spread COVID."

And we've created a situation where people with no connection to the authorities are yelling at - even assaulting - people for not wearing masks or social distancing.

In other words, we have a tattle-tale, brutish culture now amazingly similar to what the Bolsheviks had in their heyday. You have to fear being denounced by your neighbors.

In the Book of Revelation it is said Christ will destroy his enemies "with the sword of His mouth and the brightness of His Coming". What does that mean? In my mind it means His words will cut and His Truth will shine forth. Truth and disdain for political correctness are our weapons. They can perhaps shut our mouths through violence but as long as those mouths refuse to tell lies they are powerless. Deep down they know it, which is the whole point of cancel culture.

I had a couple of great comments from friends over my post Chinese Takeout. I pointed out in that post that China is struggling to feed her people and that the Chinese economy - far from being the next big thing - is in peril from the same contradictions that swallowed the Soviet Union.

Indeed that is so. The average Chinese worker makes 5,000 Yuan a month (there are 6.51 Yuan to the dollar) so the pay is paltry. And as China’s Premier Li Keqiang noted, there are 600, million people in China living under a thousand Yuan a month.
And if China wants to remain at current employment levels it must create no fewer than 15 MILLION jobs every year. That is a daunting task, and much harder in a command economy than in a truly free market.

Most of the jobs China has been able to create have been lower paid. This leads to dissatisfaction among the working class.

China's in a trap. They have to have more jobs and more food to feed the workers, but at the same time they want to build a big military and that sucks money out of the economy. It's not such an issue in a market-based economy like the U.S. but it's huge in a place like China where the government pretty much runs the market.

I stick by my assertion that China is not the coming world power. BUT it could well be strong enough to throw the world into war.

Time for a great reset of the financial system

Here is the kicker:

With a new US administration, and the end of the Covid battle in sight with the vaccination rollout under way, now is a good time for the major economies of the west (and ideally the world) to sit down and devise a new international monetary order.

As part of that there should be widespread debt cancellation, especially the government debt held by central banks. We estimate that amounts to approximately $25tn of government debt in the major regions of the global economy.

Whether debt cancellation extends beyond that should be central to the negotiations between policymakers as to the construct of the new system — ideally it should, a form of debt jubilee.

The implications for bond yields, post-debt cancellation, need to be fully thought through and debated. A normalisation in yields, as liquidity levels normalise, is likely.

High ownership of government debt in that environment by parts of the financial system such as banks and insurers could inflict significant losses. In that case, recapitalisation of parts of the financial system should be included as part of the establishment of the new international monetary order. Equally, the impact on pension assets also needs to be considered and prepared for.

What many do not know about Sowell is that he finished his first degree as a confirmed Marxist, because the entire education system pushes Marxism if not by name, and if not specifically, by continuously highlighting the problems, and not the benefits of a free market capitalist system.

Thus the university graduate with no life experiences is left with the belief there has to be a better way, and that way must be Marxism/ socialism.

If they have heard about the terrible outcomes of Marxist and socialist regimes in the past, they are told that's because it wasn't 'true socialism' and/or that it was because there were bad, authoritarian leaders.

They will advocate for 'democratic socialism'. As if the compulsory redistribution of wealth and income can be done without force. As if hard working people will willingly hand over their excess production or income to those who don't work as hard.

Sowell has said that he was a Marxist "during the decade of my 20s"; accordingly, one of his earliest professional publications was a sympathetic examination of Marxist thought vs. Marxist–Leninist practice. As he became an independent thinker, he realised how indoctrinated he had been.

Thomas Sowell was a very great thinker who understands how utterly tainted the education system and the intelligentsia is, and has spent his life battling against it.

It helped that he is black because he couldn't automatically be dismissed as a privileged white man.

This is well worth a read. But most people won't even get this far - which is why most people's grasp of current affairs is limited to headlines and 20 second grabs from TV stories. 😕

Anthony Cox introduced these 15 quotes in his post, with these observations.

Watch Out! China Cannot Feed Itself

I've always believed China was a paper tiger, largely because it has too many people and a system that really doesn't work for the average person. Oh, the Chinese have mega-corporations and make lots of money for the ruling Communists, but it is poor at producing the things the populace need or want. In the end such a system cannot survive. Eventually a crisis point will be reached and it will fall. I suspect that will be food. Of course, America and the West have been propping China up for decades now and building our own competitor.

I remember when Madelaine Albright said it was not good that America was the world's lone superpower; she was echoing the sentiments of the Ruling Class, which seeks world governemnt. The idea of America as the leader of the free world is distasteful to them, because they think we are irredeemable as founded, based on a free society with private enterprise. So they set out to make China the new USSR as a "counterweight" to American "hegemony".

But in the end China will meet the same fate as the Soviets, and for the same reason. Yes, they do have SOME quasi-private businesses (like the Nazis did) but in the end the State is the ones who run the show. That cannot be long-term sustainable.

So, China will have to reach out. Out into greater Asia for food, for energy, for minerals. And they are nosing around Canada as well. Oh, btw, the Chinese just built some ice breakers, meaning they plan on being quite active in the Arctic. That means they are going to challenge both the U.S. and the Russians.

This could lead to war at some point. The more time goes by the more the Book of Revelations looks like a history textbook.

If a hole in a condom is so terrible why is a vaccine that only sort of works a good idea?

Impeach early and impeach often, I say! That's how the Donkeys pulled it out for Biden (along with vote fraud of course). Biden is illilgitimate so he should be impeached. But the idiot GOP will try to play by the old rules of decorum and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I have little doubt.

Liberalism and Conservatism once shared many common truths, at least in the US... Then there's Leftism which shares none of those common truths. Traditional Liberalism is almost a dead ideology, replaced by the Leftist Model of thinking which I find rarely rational and never workable for the benefit of the people in general nor the Government, in particular.

To be a Leftist you must embrace what rational men would view as absurdities...a s we are witnessing. We have, I think, reached a definitive divide that doesn't allow unity on the fundamental basis of what Government means in this Country and the principles upon which it was Founded.

That fundamental principle being the idea that the individual is, according to his or her conscience, able to determine the direction of their lives without undue coercion from the State, or the use of the power of the State to impose a standard above and beyond the scope of individual conscience dictated by one overwhelming ideology without room for dissent.

What was once liberalism is now considered conservatism. The Left basically drove out the liberals, who now make common cause with conservatives. Actually, I would argue there are few old line conservatives left, most modern conservatives are fighting to preserve what were once considered liberal values. You don't find anyone wanting to reimpose monarchy or the Council of Trent or whatnot. The liberals got mugged by their own views of progress and enlightenment, I fear. Now there is Leftism and the rest of us. We are a coalition of different views, which is why it is so hard to mount a defense against the Left; we have to get people with differences to come together for a common cause, something the Left finds far easier since they all pretty much are sailing in the same direction.

So, instead of liberty as liberty, freedom as freedom, it is carefully manicured, managed and manipulated by those who feel it is not only their duty, but also their calling in life. The government has assumed the administration of liberty and freedom to ensure that it is doled out appropriately.

Top O` the mourning to you (and the rest of the day for myself)! It`s St. Patrick`s Day, and I, being perhaps half-Irish (me middle name is Kennedy, so named after me sainted mother`s family who are, alas, distantly related to a certain scoundrel family with bad driving habits in Massachusetts) would dearly love to celebrate the wearin' O the Green, but alas me lovely bride has been looking a bit greenish these days and I fear I'll be talkin' blarney to meself pretty much today. Ah, well...

Of course, most people haven`t but the foggiest idea of who St. Patrick is, and what we celebrate on this day. Most think the ``wearin` O` the green`` is cause enough to party, which is what this day has become, but St. Patrick was a real saint, and a hero to boot! As a boy he was enslaved by the Irish, escaped back to Britain, but returned to Ireland and the Divine calling to attempt to Christianize a then-barbaric people. His amazing results had enormous consequences in his time and ever since, and he is a man who should be revered as one of the truly great men of history! Go here to read his story.

Patrick was a fifth century Briton who had a very accidental life.

After being kidnapped from his family by the heathen Irish he spent six years as a shepherd and slave in Ireland. One night he dreamed of a ship and went and found it whereupon he escaped his captors and returned home after a second brief captivity and near starvation.

In Britain he read a letter about the Irish and heard voices calling him to return. He heeded the call and, facing martyrdom at any moment, set about  Christianizing the pagan Irish.

There are many legends surrounding Patrick. The most famous perhaps is that he drove all the snakes from the Emerald Isles. Another says he raised men from the dead - as many as 33! It is also said he once prayed for food for some hungry people and a pig popped up immediately.

While it is hard to separate fact from fiction with the saint, it is clear he was a very brave and dedicated man who faced his fears, his enemies, and won a nation for Christ. One of the great legends of St. Patrick was the story of the shamrock; Patrick, having trouble explaining the Trinity to the Irish, supposedly plucked a shamrock from the ground and pointed out it had three leaves although it was one plant. That seemed to do the trick, and the Irish accepted the doctrine of the Trinity and the Faith.

At any rate, there is more to St. Patrick's Day then green beer, green clothes, and drunken revelry. There was a real St. Patrick, and he did real things, and he is responsible for the salvation of all the Irish. Not bad.
