Kmiec is currently drafting a private member’s bill to amend Section 122 of the Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA), which is focused on the duty of care that officers and directors owe to their shareholders. If passed, it would ensure that officers and directors prioritize the interests of shareholders above political agendas that are unrelated to the company’s business purpose.
A summary of Kmiec’s bill, which was obtained by the National Post, explains that it would be "considered a breach in the duty of care owed to shareholders when directors and officers of a large distributing corporation (a company with a total market value of shares above $100 million) make activist statements, including in relation to public policy or social issues, that is not directly related to the business the corporation carries out and that could reasonably be expected to reduce the value of shares.â€

There were two Marines used as props visible throughout the recent Triumph of the Swill speech.
First, my sincere apologies to them for their having been grossly misused.
Second, anyone else notice that neither was a woman? Even the woke understand that when push comes to shove, even symbolically, you need men to do the shoving.

When the civil government becomes the great intimidator and psychological manipulator for control…
This morning my daughter was taken to Newark International Airport.
I understand and appreciate security especially at airports considering them as vital points of exit and entry.
My daughter as part of the security check had to remove her shoes which is fine but then she was ordered to take off her sheer socks!
What possibly could be hidden between her sheer socks and her skin that could be a genuine threat? Perhaps fatal fungus?
This I construe as an intimidation ploy to condition the citizenry to fear government in a heightened and unreasonable way.
It is statist control.

Don't worry. We are going to solve the supply shortfall, by subsidizing it, to make it cheaper, so that people can afford to use more.
It's the best plan we've ever had!!

Americans have no use for kings and queens. Every since we booted George III we have had antipathy towards royalty. Sadly that is changing now, and we have a new aristocracy, but it is careful not to use the old aristocratic titles. Frankly, the best term for American nobility is Baron, which was originally a title given to commoners who were exceptional bandits/robbers and by dint of that amassed vast wealth.
But we used to disdain royalty.
My dear departed uncle was a great guy, albeit a very crude, crass, and hard drinking man. Once he went on a trip to British Columbia and was in a bar with a friend when the whole bar decided to toast their soveright "to the Queen"..."Hear! Hear!"
My uncle, being the tactless individual he was, said out loud "piss on the Queen!" As he tells the story you could hear a pin drop; stunned silence!
His friend, who had had less to drink, hustled him out before the stunned Canucks could take a hockey stick or two to him.
He was very lucky.
So anyone who comes from the British Empire generally loves the monarchy, and especially loved Queen Elizabeth II, a very devoted, decent, and caolm person, the ideal symbol of a former age of glory. It's too bad the nation didn't follow her example, but no doubt she made a huge difference in stemming what would have been a truly revolutionary tide.
I never knew her politics, but suspect she and her family were quite liberal. After all, the British upper class generally has been and her children and grandchildren certainly show signs of the Progressive disease. But she kept those opinions to herself, to her great credit; she was a symbol of all Britain, an inclusive monarch.
Can anyone say, after Joe Biden's verbal assault on his opposition the other day, that America wouldn't benefit from a ceremonial head of state who stayed above politics? The Presidency is certainly a political position here and given the politically homicidal tendencies of one party (ahem!) it would be nice to have a ceremonial head who goes around opening military bases or meeting dignitaries. Then we could have the President concentrate on meaningful work.
Perhaps the Vice Presidency should be revamped to be a ceremonial role for elder statesmen?
It won't happen but it's a nice thing to dream about.
At any rate Queen Elizabeth II was a uniter and not a divider.
So I have to disagree with my uncle; most assuredly do NOT piss on the Queen!
But where will the Monarchy go now? I don't think that half-witted son of hers is up for the challenge, nor any of her spoiled brat grandkids. The British People may well decide the Monarchy is too expensive an indulgence, a waste of taxpayer money and a useless institution. Remember, they had a republic under Cromwell for a time. It may be the time is coming when they will have a republic again. Monarchy is so 19th century!
Time will tell. Charles III is technically the king, but I believe he still must be approved and formally crowned. Many a slip between cup and lip, as my mother used to say.
I believe Elizabeth held on so long precisely because she knew her son was going to make a mess and she was playing for time (what else could she do?) She remained Queen despite failing health precisely to prevent Chucky from ascending to the throne and turning it into some circus. Now that she's out of the way I suspect Charles will start a politically active Kingship and promote all the idiocy he's always dabbled with - Climate Change, being the big issue.
If he does, if he politicizes the Monarchy, a lot of peole will reject the whole institution.
I rather suspect this may be the beginning of the end for the Royals.
But who knows? Charles once suggested he be made king of the Euroopean Union. That will be hard now that Brexit has gone through, but perhaps he'll get them back in. Certainly the new Prime Minister was a Remainer and probably will support the new King if the matter arises.
God save the King if that happens!

And please, Lord, don't let Charles III screw it up too badly! The death of Her Majesty the Queen, announced a short time ago, is a seismic event for the United Kingdom and a profound emotional shock that will be felt by millions.
It was, of course, always an inevitability, as it is for all of us. And in recent months the Queen had obviously become increasingly frail.
Nevertheless, it felt unthinkable that one day she would no longer be with us. We allowed ourselves to imagine that she would go on for ever. For so many of us this evening, this feels like a personal bereavement. Something of priceless value has been torn from us, and we feel devastated.
The Queen was most deeply loved by millions, who showed their profound feeling for her and for what she meant to them when they came out in their hundreds of thousands to cheer her at her Platinum Jubilee celebrations earlier this year.
It’s not just because her reign lasted for an astonishing 70 years, the longest in the country’s history. It’s because she was the constant, still centre of the nation, always reassuring, always a beacon of optimism, always felt to be somehow embracing all of us.
She was the symbol of consistency, the link between the generations, the rock to whom we were tethered as the storms of the world raged around us. She was always there. Now she isn’t. And we feel devastated.
She held the country together because of the way she effaced herself to become the quintessence of duty and selfless service to her people, a symbol of unity and true inclusion. We watched the way she conducted her great office — her calmness, her strength, her fortitude, her kindliness and humility — and we felt soothed and reassured that, in looking at her example, we were gazing at ourselves as a nation in the mirror she held up to us. She loved us with a deep devotion; and in return we loved her.
Never have those qualities she embodied been more needed than they are now. It’s impossible not to feel that her passing marks not just the loss of a unique public servant and a great soul, but also the loss of a Britain that belonged to a different era — a Britain of strength and resilience, a Britain of self-restraint and grounded pragmatism, a Britain of true tolerance and gentleness, a Britain whose passing we also most deeply mourn.
The Queen was the embodiment of that Britain. Her death is a source of the deepest grief.
May her memory be a blessing.

The Federal District judge who granted Donald Trump a Special Master to review the case brought by the DoJ against OUR TRUE PRESIDENT is Judge Aileen Cannon who was nominated by OUR TRUE PRESIDENT Donald Trump and approved by a vote of 56 to 21 in the Senate. You can see that a couple of Senate dead beats didn’t even show up.
Judge Cannon serves in the Southern District of Florida, which is under the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, encompassing Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
The Chief Justice of the 11th Circuit is William H. Pryor Jr., a Republican appointed by George W. Bush. Clarence Thomas oversees the 11th Circuit Court.
Pack sand Merrick Garland.
Now we only need to know who will be the Special Master and will Judge Cannon be subject to a no knock raid by the FBI or she has an untimely death as she is run down by a flaming Tesla.

Here in the UK, most people have never heard of Adam Smith!!!
He was on a Bank Note until quite recently. But I doubt that more than 1 in 10 people could tell you anything about his economic theories.
It's really sad. There has been some kind of conspiracy against anyone finding out the truth. Whereas many many people have been introduced to Marxism.
Isn't that odd?
Then again, one might imagine that such simple realities should be intuitively obvious to a person of average intelligence. This is, however, clearly not the case.

Gee; who would have seen this coming?
Tru Colors, a brewery in Wilmington Delaware, is closing it's doors. The moronic liberal utopians who founded this beer company wanted to end gang violence. Noble, perhaps, but the way they did it? By hiring people from rival gangs to work cheek-by-jowl amid boiling kettles and grist mills and the like.
I wonder how many gang-bangers wound up being boiled down in the brew kettles?
Only the place that gave us Joe Biden could cook up such a truly mad scheme.

St. Louis is the most dangerous cityoutside of Latin America. No other American city has that distinction - not even Chicago.
We've moved up quite a bit since prosecutor Kim Gardner took over and stopped prosecuting black folks for crimes, and we also elected a black woman mayor named Tishuara Jones (daughter of a corrupt politician who went to prison.) There is no appetite to prosecute criminals here any longer.
But if we are going to be number 1 we simply have to try harder! Latin America is still ahead of us. Excellent requires hard work!

I have little doubt. Biden could have averted this war in the beginning with quiet diplomacy but he didn't do it because he needs it as a scapegoat. It covered his mistakes. He has blamed high gas prices on it, as well as inflation - all of which were cause by his bad policies. He needs it to last through the midterms.
From Jim Shepherd:
Did the West Sabotage a Peace Agreement Between Russia and Ukraine in April Just to Continue the War?
I was not aware of the facts presented in this video until now.More details.

China has passed the US in life expectancy. Why?
We're fat, and drugs are 2 major reasons.

Tim adds:
There are anywhere from between 45 and 60 million immigrants - both legal and illegal - in the U.S. They significantly lower our life expectancy numbers. How many come here BECAUSE they are sick and hope to get treatment? How many have poor health practices, like smoking or heavy drinking? I rather suspect this would look quite different if we controlled our border and were selective in who we let in.
Also, in China you will be healthy or else! And you will walk to work or ride a bicycle. Hardly seems worth it.
The Nazis were big on physical fitness too and most Germans were quite healthy so they could make better fighters and would be more capable of killing Jews and the like.

The United States produces oil and gas in huge quantities, so it is safe to stop importing this raw material from Russia and that was done with great pomp. But other goods and products are gradually returning to the North American market. Although it would seem that after the United States became the initiator of the anti-Russian campaign, this phenomenon should not exist in principle. However, practice shows the opposite: goods come from Russia to the United States.
On September 3rd, the petrochemical tanker Johnny Ranger (loaded with ammonium nitrate solution) departed from the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal bound for the US port of Corpus Christi with a fixed arrival date of September 27th. Now the ship is in the Baltic Sea.
Now shipments from Russia to the United States are likely to resume without too much publicity and become regular.

wars, is merely an imposture. It is like the battles between certain
ruminant animals whose horns are incapable of hurting one another. But
though it is unreal it is not meaningless. It eats up the surplus of
consumable goods, and it helps to preserve the special mental
atmosphere that the hierarchical society needs. War, it will be seen,
is now a purely internal affair. In the past, the ruling groups of all

If alien life is out there, where are they? That was the famous question Enrico Fermi asked about speculations of alien life. His argument was that we should find solid evidence of their existence; they would come in all levels of development and we should find at least some of them. Radio transmissions, or artifacts left here. But we find none. Why is that?
Richard Cronin, discussing the Drake Equations which purport to give a statistical proof of the existence of alien life, had this to say:
Maybe they have their own version of Progressivism that strangles them. Certainly would explain the Fermi Paradox! Any sufficiently advanced civilization may strangle on it's own success by having the power to make a hammock out of a social safety net!
It may be that cultural degeneration isn't a strictly human thing, but a thing common to all intelligent life. The higher a civilization rises the easier they make their lives - and the less productive and adventurous they become.
One wonders if the Universe isn't littered with dead civilizations, killed off by their own success.
Maybe every alien race has had their own Joe Biden to contend with?
It may be there ARE aliens out there - they just all slide back to barbarism before truly breaking away from their home worlds. Or they wipe themselves out completely through the wars started by busy-body eight legged Progressives.
It does appear that may happen to us. It HAS happened to us in the past - many times. Civilizations have fallen just as they were becoming something truly remarkable. It happend during the Bronze Age. It happened to Greece. It happened to China. It happened to Rome.
Now it appears to be our turn, only we have the tools to wipe ourselves out completely.
We're making the very same mistakes all of our predecessors made. Maybe it's a series of mistakes all intelligent life makes?

Is this really accidental? The Left has the system gamed in so many ways that it's just staggering. Evil, evil people.
Tim adds:
The purpose of power is power. That is all the Democrats and the Left understand, and all they care about.
They are stealing the whole country as we watch.
Here is what gets me:
Sooo....
California wanted to count illegal aliens. I distinctly remembered that. One of Biden's first actions was to reverse the Trump policy of not counting illegal aliens.
So, after Biden opened the border and let hordes of illegals flood in, did he then count them as part of the population of Texas?
Anybody?
But I'll bet they did with California.

What's that?
"A man trapped in a woman's body."
You know what a woman is then?

We live in a deeply serious time with deeply unserious leaders.Historian Niall Ferguson has written that the "extreme violence of the twentieth century" was precipitated by three preconditions: "ethnic conflict, economic volatility, and empires in decline."
It is difficult not to see such preconditions repeating themselves in this century. The West is currently tearing itself apart over concerns about birthrate, immigration and multiculturalism.
Economic volatility is raging: After a decades-long reshifting of manufacturing away from the West and a reorientation toward finance and service, the hollowing out of the Western energy sector in pursuit of utopian environmentalism — all punctuated by the Great Recession, the COVID-19 mini-depression and now sky-high rates of inflation — the global economy sits on a razor's edge.
And then there is the problem of empires in decline.
We tend to think of our world as empire-free, a world of nation-states. But that's not really correct. The United States, however hesitant, is a de facto empire, even if not in the colonialist mold of the British Empire; the European Union would, in any other context, be considered a continental empire; Russia has always considered itself an imperial power, and Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine represents merely the latest iteration of this claim; China has an empire of its own, not merely a nation-state — as author Ai Weiwei recently wrote, "the people who live in China or come from it are a jumble of more than 50 ethnic and linguistic groups."
The Russian empire is far past decline; it is an economic backwater armed with antiquated military systems, in grave demographic trouble. But China is the area of highest risk today. The Chinese economy underwent tremendous economic growth over the course of the last two decades, but that growth now appears to be stalling out: state-run mercantilism is not self-sustaining, and as China scholar Michael Pettis recently wrote, "China's excessive reliance on surging debt in recent years has made the country's growth model unsustainable... (it is likely) that the country will face a very long, Japan-style period of low growth." China's demographics are entirely upside-down; its population is expected to reduce by nearly 50% by 2100. And President Xi Jinping is about to declare himself dictator for life.
In all of this, China strongly resembles Nazi Germany on the precipice of territorial aggression against its neighbors. Nazi Germany saw tremendous GDP growth, rooted largely in debt, state-sponsored mercantilism and military spending; Germany's fertility rate dropped from above 4 children per woman in 1910 to well below 2 by 1935. Nazi Germany's underpinnings were fragile; Hitler saw his window closing. Military aggression was therefore not unpredictable.
So, what would China's next logical step be? Its eyes are fixed on Taiwan. Given China's historic lust for Taiwan and Taiwan's domination of the all-important production of sophisticated semiconductors, a Chinese invasion of the island would be not at all unpredictable.
Which brings us back to the deeply unserious leadership of the West.
And as we know, the West is unserious, preferring to concentrate on climate change and all that. Go here https://jewishworldreview.com/0922/shapiro090722.php3 for the rest of the article -- it's not long and it's worth your time to read it.

Sky News commentator Daisy Cousens had some choice words to say about Meghan Markle's (it's all about her), interview with Serena Williams. Daisy said something I have thought for a long time. Most of us didn't even know or care who Meghan Markle was until she hooked up with Prince Harry.
Daisy points out Meghan’s worldwide fame is largely due to her marrying Prince Harry. Considering she speaks so highly of ambition in women, it’s extraordinary Meghan is apparently so willing to remind the world she got where she is by marrying up. https://www.skynews.com.au/opinion/meghan-markles-grating-brand-of-girl-boss-feminism-is-tone-deaf-to-the-struggles-of-ordinary-women/news-story/799ce1d6aab19f81496ce71616af57bc
Markle likes to think of herself as a progressive feminist breaking glass ceilings. But there is nothing less progressive than achieving all your status and position simply by marrying into aristocracy. What has Markle achieved by herself except to create the same relationship for Harry, that she had with most of her family.
Every form of feminism considers the world primarily in terms of power structures, and the goal is always to subvert the patriarchy as the movement interprets it. Yet Markle is supporting the patriarchy by, as she does, insisting that people refer to her by the title she only has by dint of her marriage to Harry. You go girl! You married a famous, wealthy, rich guy! That's definitely smashing the patriarchy.
Markle proves that many women, despite their beliefs about gender and class equality, still want to be princesses. The notion of being saved from harsh reality by an exorbitantly wealthy man, and sheltered in a private estate or castle, while being admired for very traditional characteristics such as beauty, grace and elegance is clearly still intoxicating to many. These women dream of marriage as a ticket out of the ordinary lives. Given Markle was only ever an average actor with average looks by Hollywood standards, the casting couch would only get her so far.
What Markle did seems incompatible with any respectable form of feminism. Yes, the wedding was lovely, but it was not a triumph for equality. To marry into an ivory tower yet claim to represent equality is madness. To make such a marriage is to demonstrate and condone inequality in the most public and fundamental sense.

Surely Markle herself doesn't really think she's achieving anything to be admired by other women?
Tim adds:
She's much like Hillary Clinton, who married a man who would take her places and give her power. Markle would be unknown to the world by and large were it not for her marriage, and she consoles herself that she actually matters by playing the brave feminist, but in the end she hides behind her femininity. That is true of most feminists.
It was true of Hillary Clinton who often pretended to be the poor little girl, "don't yell at me!" after proclaiming herself tough as any man. When she ran for the U.S. Senate in New York she complained that her opponent stood at one point towering over her "in a threatening manner". Poor little defenseless girl! Meghan Markle has the same characteristics
It's little wonder she didn't fit in at Buckingham Palace; she probably offended everyone from the very beginning. An entitled brat.

If I post something, anything with any reference to climate change, then it will get a banner from facebook which reads:
"See how the average temperature. in your area is changing".
I've never clicked on it, out of principle.
However, surely the vast majority of facebook users (and humans) live in an ever expanding urban area. Such areas will get warmer as the intensity of urbanization and area of urbanization increases.
This simple fact is well documented and uncontroversial
So, for this vast majority, they could look at how the average
temperature is changing in their area, and they will see that it has
tended to increase as fields were turned into carparks, a bypass, a
supermarket and a new housing estate, etc.
So, this is the best that they can come up with. A link to "reputable information" which is already blatant disinformation,
Yes, most areas have warmed, where people live. But mainly - because people live there.
Also, this in no way implicated carbon dioxide. We have been warming since the end of the Little Ice Age, and there had been another cooling in the '70's before we began a fifty year warming trend, No mention of natural variability. No mention of things like the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation.
It's a way of lying using statistics. As has been said, there are lies, damned lies, and statistics. .
Facebook fact-checkers are rather like the telephone game. Kids often play it. That is where you tell a story, send it around the room, and see how it finishes. It is usually unrecognizable from the original. That is what Facebook fact-checking is; it twists and distorts real data and the opinions of scientists into a form pleasing to the mandarins.

Beardsley Ruml, was the Head of the NY Federal Reserve in the late 40s. He wrote a very interesting and rather shocking admission about the fact that taxes are obsolete for Federal revenues due to the introduction of the Fiat Money Substitutes. He said essentially that there are only three reasons to maintain taxes on the American people, none of which were revenues. It might surprise most people to hear that the government didn't need to tax people or companies, proof of that can be found in the enormous national debt that can and will never be repaid.
Ruml stated that taxes have three purposes:
*To enforce legal tender laws so the American people would be forced to use Federal Reserve Notes as currency.
*To redistribute wealth.
*To maintain social control over the people by the government.
Quite a ruse don't you think?
