WHY IS THE LEFT AFRAID OF EVERYTHING?

Dana Mathewson

This is a great article from Steven Hayward on Power Line. Actually, all Hayward's articles are great.

I have argued previously that one reason the left can’t let go of mask mandates and other COVID-Zero demands is that they have been taught for 50 years now, chiefly by environmentalists, to blow up every conceivable risk in to a world-ending crisis, and demand that the government deliver a zero-risk response that is heedless of any adverse tradeoffs. This is why leftist politicians are caught between a public that is fed up with COVID mania and the vocal base of the Democratic Party that wants Mandates Forever and will be furious if President Biden, Gov. Newsom, Gov. Witmer, Gov. Wolf, etc., declare a full return to normal life.

There is some interesting survey evidence on this point from the New York Times. David Leonhardt reports about their latest opinion survey on the issue:

Republicans have long been split over vaccination, with many eagerly getting shots while many others refuse. Democrats have their own growing schism, between those who believe Covid precautions should continue to be paramount and those who favor moves toward normalcy.

The key dividing line appears to be ideology. Americans who identify as "very liberal” are much more worried about Covid than Americans who identify as "somewhat liberal” or "liberal.” Increasingly, the very liberal look like outliers on Covid: The merely liberal are sometimes closer to moderates than to the very liberal.

At this point he included a lot of really revealing graphs. Go here https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2022/03/why-is-the-left-afraid-of-everything.php to see them and read the rest of the article.

Hyperrealism

E. Calvin Beisner

Key paragraph: "The Soviets called this "hyperrealism.” The goal is simply to get as many people complicit in repeating talking points that they know to be completely false out of fear that the consequences of telling the truth are worse than the lie. This, of course, has a profound psychological effect on those complicit in the lie. They feel humiliated, so they try and get others to participate, thinking that if others are willing to swallow the lie, they can somehow manufacture a new reality or at least not be confronted with the guilt-inducing truth. Pretty soon, large numbers of people, not just our political leaders, are personally invested in sustaining the lie."

Don't be sucked in.

The War on Parents Rights

Julio Adrian Del Val

Liberals have labeled the PARENTAL RIGHTS BILL as the Don’t Say Gay bill. It really is not about targeting Gays or any group. It’s about parents having the right to not have their Pre-K thru 3rd Grade kids taught about LGBTQ and Alternate lifestyles. In my opinion, kids that age should be left alone to be kids.

It will not end with this. The next step will be identifying Pedophilia as a sexual orientation and not a punishable crime. LEAVE OUR KIDS ALONE.

The Fascist Future of the WEF

Carlos Valasquez

https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-wef/fact-check-the-world-economic-forum-does-not-have-a-stated-goal-to-have-people-own-nothing-by-2030-idUSKBN2AP2T0?fbclid=IwAR1btfm1T7S980gWRd35ok2bvvIGBquzIaN_xwGnOo0TddNlAj-kQae4YkU

Why does capitalism need to be reset and who does the resetting? Why use the jargon "stakeholders" to replace producers and consumers? Who are they?

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/06/now-is-the-time-for-a-great-reset/

"To achieve a better outcome, the world must act jointly and swiftly to revamp all aspects of our societies and economies, from education to social contracts and working conditions. Every country, from the United States to China, must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to tech, must be transformed. In short, we need a "Great Reset” of capitalism."

"Left unaddressed, these crises, together with COVID-19, will deepen and leave the world even less sustainable, less equal, and more fragile. Incremental measures and ad hoc fixes will not suffice to prevent this scenario. We must build entirely new foundations for our economic and social systems."

"Clearly, the will to build a better society does exist. We must use it to secure the Great Reset that we so badly need. That will require stronger and more effective governments, though this does not imply an ideological push for bigger ones. And it will demand private-sector engagement every step of the way."

And a lot of other utopian notions.

Tim adds:

Great points Carlos! And what exactly is a "stakeholder"? This is aimed at empowering non-stakeholder

s, from the look of it.

So, a Communist world by 2030 isn't the plan, but a fascist one is!

Borders is Borders

Timothy Birdnow

Having destroyed all the border security Donald Trump put in place and stopping construction on the wall Jose Biden and his regime are now begging for volunteers to go to the border and help out ICE.

On Wednesday, DHS Deputy Secretary John Tien sent an email to employees asking them to contribute their service to the DHS Volunteer Force. Over 1,400 employees have volunteered thus far, the email said.

We wouldn't need the extra hands if we were actually enforcing the border at the border.

Most of the Volunteer Force will be doing general support and data entry, according to the email; this is consistent with how the force was used last year, when Fox noted the volunteers were used in a "non-law enforcement capacity.”

One source in the Border Patrol said there was a "frantic sense of urgency” to get processing capabilities in place as officials have come to the grave realization that there’ll likely be a crush of illegal migrants in the spring and summer.

Sooo....the help is in PROCESSING not in keeping them out.

In other words, Biden wants Democrats to help in a vote drive there.

I don't think America can survive two more years of this revolution in fixodent and bunny slippers.

It's funny; Biden was all lathered up about Russia violating the Ukrainian border but he cares little about anyone violating our own.

Dems Demand Funding for Terrorists

Timothy Birdnow

Democrat Jamie Raskin and the squad members are angry the Republicans are blocking money to Gaza to aid Hamas.

I kid you not.

Daniel Greenfield has the scoop:

Rep. Jamie Raskin(D - Weasel) dispatched a letter to SenatorJim Risch (R - Idaho) demanding that he unblock money for Hamas.

In a letter co-signed by notable Democrat patriots and lovers of the Jewish Statelike Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Rep. Mark Pocan, and Rep. Jerrold Nadler, Raskin demanded immediate aid for Gaza.

"Gaza is experiencing a humanitarian catastrophe. Buildings lie in rubble. Access to clean water and electricity is sporadic or nonexistent. Food insecurity is spreading. COVID-19 is running rampant and thousands of people have been displaced and rendered homeless. The magnitude of the crisis is staggering," Rep. Raskin wailed.

So the U.S. should be in the business of funding terrorists?

What the Left Wants

Warner Todd Huston

Biden is presiding over the total destruction of the United States... he has nearly brought about the end of the US dollar (not to mention the petro-dollar), ended US sovereignty by wiping out our southern border, destroyed our children's education, wrecked our economy, impoverished our middle and lower classes even further, sent costs for everything from energy to food to big ticket items soaring, further diminished respect for human life, made America the laughing stock of diplomacy... well, I could go on and on. But this is what the left wants. They want this country utterly ruined. So, as far as Democrats are concerned, this is all a feature of the Biden era, not a drawback.

Color Me Crazy

Mike

These Democrats are the same people who believe hair discrimination is a national priority. At issue is the CROWN Act (H.R. 2116), with the acronym meaning "Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair.” Introduced by Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.) and passed Friday by the House of Representatives, with all 221 Democrats and 14 Republicans voting yea, the bill seeks to prevent hairstyle "discrimination.” Runaway inflation, war in Eastern Europe, Iran going nuclear, China about to swallow Taiwan, North Korea firing rockets like its the fourth, civil war in Mexico and the list goes on but congress is concerned about hair discrimination.
At the next stop will someone please let me off this crazy train.

Tim adds:

Funny; I can't seem to find hair coloring under the enumerated powers in the Constitution.  I guess my copy is defective.

We live in a complete imperium.

Tuvalu Growing Like the Warmists Noses

This courtesy of Andrei Piriutko

From the article:

The Pacific nation of Tuvalu long seen as a prime candidate to disappear as climate change forces up sea levels is actually growing in size. A University of Auckland study examined changes in the geography of Tuvalu's nine atolls and 101 reef islands between 1971 and 2014, using aerial photographs and satellite imagery. It found eight of the atolls and almost three-quarters of the islands grew during the study period, lifting Tuvalu's total land area by 2.9 percent.

Wokery reaches new depths -- Steam Engines

Dana Mathewson

The Welsh are trying to out-woke us! This article is from Power Line:

Some stories are just so stupid and absurd that only someone with an advanced degree could possible believe them. From The Telegraph:

Trains could face a new kind of "cancellation”, as National Museum Wales reviews steam-powered technology over claims it was linked to the slave trade.

Richard Trevithick unveiled the first steam-powered locomotive in Wales in 1804, but National Museum Wales (NMW) displays covering his revolutionary invention face being altered as part of a process of "decolonising the collection”.

Trevithick had no links to slavery, but the museum has claimed that the steam power he harnessed helped drive an imperial British economy that was tied to the slave trade.

A replica of the Trevithick locomotive used in the first steam-powered rail journey faces being relabeled by NMW to include information on these claimed links between industrial technology and colonialism, as curators audit displays "rooted in colonialism and racism”.

A statement from the museum said: "Although there might not be direct links between the Trevithick locomotive and the slave trade, we acknowledge the reality that links to slavery are woven into the warp and weft of Welsh society.”

"Trade and colonial exploitation were embedded in Wales’ economy and society and were fundamental to Wales’ development as an industrialised nation.

"As we continue to audit the collection, we will explore how the slave trade linked and fed into the development of the steam and railway infrastructure in Wales.”

The Big Lie

Lance Sjogren

The Democrats claim the massive government spending is not increasing inflation. Pelosi actually claimed the massive spending was resulting in a reduction of the national debt.

No wonder they wanted to spend trillions more, since they have a completely inverted concept of reality. Fortunately, the grownups (Republicans, Manchin and Sinema) were able to block their "financial insanity on steroids" legislation known as Build Back Better.

It's hard to understand how anyone could still supports these lunatics.

Tim adds:

Pelosi knows she is lying. This is what Goebbles called the Big Lie. People believe you because they think nobody would have the chutzpah to tell such a whopper.

What's in a Word

Timothy Birdnow

Here is a story I find mildly interesting.
https://www.foxnews.com/world/russian-cosmonauts-ukraine-colors-international-space-station?fbclid=IwAR3Djk5JAkSkJtC-8intCLtLlhvQ2wftqQ6jhbPxVWO4terIVfE7eOHk5_w

Seems new Russian arrivals at the space station Freedom (what they now call the International Space Stateion) were wearing the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

Interesting and you have to admire their bravery. Next mission, if they have one, could wind up with a cabin pressure leak.

But the Fox article is what interested me, and how Fox is NOT to be trusted.

Here is the text:

"Cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev said each new crew that travels to the station gets to choose its own style of flight suit, the AP report said."

Get that? They used "its" rather than "his or her" in the line.

Most people wouldn't think this a big deal but it's a huge deal. It is the politically correct verbiage in our post-sex culture (not gender, which is primarily a function of language. Differences between men and women are sex, not gender.)

Fox used the politically correct "its" with nary a hesitation.

Calling a person an it is not acceptable. It depersonalized them. It reframes peoples thinking in a way that makes them believe they are little more than material, objects. It makes them think OTHERS are little more than things.

Which is no small part of why the Left pushes this; they want to desacralize human beings, take away the inherent sense of individuality and conform everyone to the group.

Anyone who has ever read history knows that all dictatorships bear this same characteristic, this view of people as objects, possessions of the overlord. To enslave someone you must first make them something that CAN be enslaved. You don't enslave a being of light, made in the image and likeness of God. But if they are just animated meat they are fair game. And if they think they are just animated meat they will be willing to be enslaved, because it's so much easier to be cared for and told what to do. I imagine most livestock feel the same way.

So there is real purpose to this use of "its" rather than "his or hers". It makes it easy to demand conformity.

And it helps promote the sense that human beings are nothing but objects, and as such hedonism and pleasure is whatever one wishes. In this way any sort of activity, no matter how deviant or bizarre, becomes acceptable.

A pervert or hedonist frequently objectifies a person for the satisfaction of their lusts and desires. A rapist doesn't see a woman as a person but as a thing, an object to impose their will upon. I rather the same holds true in many unusual sexual behaviors. One must first stop seeing a person there and rather see a thing to gratify one's own desires. It is selfishness indulged.

So make no mistake; the use of this gender-neutral word is a surrender to nothing short of an attack on Western Civilization and our Judeo-Christian heritage.

And Fox is going right along with that.

Shame on them!

Fake Energy Scheme in W. Va.

I didn't know there WAS coal loss in W. Virginia, as the Chinese and others have been buying coal at a record rate, even while we continue playing these games with pinwheels and beams of light.

U.S. Unveils Battery Strategy in West Virginia to Ease Coal Loss

So, are we going to waive environmental regulations to allow these batteries to be made here? Right now we don't make them because they are very dirty.

And where is the lithium going to come from? The Chinese cornered the market on this.

No, this is a red herring to make it look like something is being done for the miners and the rust belt states. But it's all smoke and mirrors (hey, I wonder if we can generate energy from smoke and mirrors?)

Another bald-faced lie.

The Science Isn't Settled

Richard Cronin

Just sent the following missive to the Editor of FactCheck . org, founded by Mickey Mann:

"Perhaps you could share this correspondence with Dr. Michael Mann, your founder.

I recently encountered several papers describing how the tidal pumping of the Sun affects the Earth, specifically moving the tectonic plates with multiple overlapping cycles. This is the real effect of Milankovitch cycles. We all know that Milankovitch cycles are totally discredited for purposes of solar radiation.

https://climate.nasa.gov/news/2948/milankovitch-orbital-cycles-and-their-role-in-earths-climate/

Another paper by Dr. Anne Hofmeister also resolves many discrepancies in tectonic plate movement, mantle convection and subduction.

https://phys.org/news/2022-01-sun-moon-plate-motions-imbalanced.html

Tidal pumping stresses imposed by precession over geologic time frames also explains the formation of the broad Southern oceans while the Northern Hemisphere is dominated by continental land masses. Moreover, seasonal precession asserts stresses along the Peru-Chile Trench to open it up, allowing the water to warm. As the planet approaches the maximum stresses of the Winter Solstice, the opening of the Peru-Chile Trench initially melts the concentrations of methane clathrates in that region, thereby producing a cold water upwelling and signaling the arrival of the El Niño. Continued warming and evaporation yields the rainy season across the Amazon. La Niña does the same along the Tonga Trench, with warming and increased evaporation, providing the monsoons across Southeast Asia.

Witness the terrible submarine volcano off Tonga. The Tonga Trench is the second deepest Trench after the Marianas.

Here’s more on these two trench systems, plus the deficiencies in subduction. The workings of "slab pull” has a lot of problems.

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/334131717_The_phenomenon_of_subduction_is_incompatible_with_Earth's_surface_geometry_and_geomorphology

In essence, these geologic events drive the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and almost certainly climate effects over longer time frames. None of these effects are driven by human emissions of CO2. CO2 is 0.04 of one (1) percent in our atmosphere. We are the water planet, not the CO2 planet. If the Earth warms, for whatever reason, the water cycle provides a nearly infinite and tunable cooling system. For any planet to maintain a fairly stable surface temperature, it does so by means of a condensible component in the atmosphere.

For Venus, the highly dense CO2 atmosphere asserts 90 atmospheres of thermal compression on the surface and Sulfuric acid condenses as the cooling agent. It has nothing whatsoever to do with "back radiation”. For Earth, water vapor condenses to rain, throwing off the Heat of Evaporation into Outer Space. Freezing to snow and ice throws off the Heat of Fusion.

I suggest that you examine the activity of the Gakkel Ridge to understand the warming of Arctic waters.

Nonchalant and unscholarly dismissal of geothermal heat in prior studies served only to defend a failed and untestable hypothesis of human-induced global warming. Show me any paper issued in the prior 5 years with any substantive message regarding geothermal heating effects. Subjective bias does not count.

You should know that West Antarctica alone has 138 Subglacial volcanoes plus the Bentley and Byrd Subglacial Trenches. Researchers from Washington University describe the bottom of the Bentley Subglacial Trench as a "magma blowtorch”.

Please do not do a disservice in Fact Checking. The Science isn’t settled. Far be it so.

Thank you.
