Seattle Considers Legalizing Theft

Timothy Birdnow

Seattle now seeks to make theft legal.

From the Not the Bee article (Not the Bee is a site that highlights real news stories that could be from the Babylon Bee):

Remember over the summer when AOC blamed the spike in crime in New York City on parents stealing food to feed their families?

She was roundly ridiculed for that, of course, but now Seattle hopes to make AOC's fantasy a reality by creating an affirmative defense for theft if you intended to sell the stolen items for "basic needs" like food or rent.

It's called "the poverty defense," and would not only make stealing legal, but apparently fencing items as well, and would cover over 100 misdemeanor crimes.

As explained by City Council member, Lisa Herbold,

"It's giving people an opportunity to tell their stories and giving judges and juries the opportunity to hear those stories and make a decision based on the values of our city."

Conspicuously absent among those values appears to be the right to private property.

"[King County Department of Public Defense Director, Anita] Khandelwal said the legislation should not include any restrictions, monetary or otherwise, and jurors should be allowed to decide."

No restrictions, "monetary or otherwise."

It was unclear whether Khandelwal understands that there is a de facto monetary "restriction" in that at some point a misdemeanor becomes a felony, and they haven't legalized felonies. Well, not yet anyway.

Believe it or not, there are people in Seattle who believe this might not be an entirely good idea. As Scott Lindsay, a former mayoral Public Safety Advisor warned,

"It's a green light for crime."

End excerpt.

"Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can..." This is where socialist thinking takes you - and dope-addled brains.

And we used to wish California would break off from the mainland and float away! Now Oregon and Washington are even worse.

Something must be done to stop this insanity in this communities. Seattle should be disincorporated and put under Federal jurisdiction.

As for Oregon, they decriminalized hard narcotics. This is a direct violation of U.S. law and must be punished.

But then, where would Hunter Biden get his fix?

Standing Hampton

This from E. Calvin Beisner:

First question: Did officers in the defendant states change the manner in which electors were chosen from that enacted by the legislatures? Answer: yes. Second question: Does the Constitution require that electors be chosen in the manner determined by the legislatures? Answer: yes. Third question: Are electors not chosen by the manner determined by the legislatures qualified to vote on Monday? Answer: Not Constitutionally. Fourth question: Will a vote, in the Electoral College, determined by electors not qualified to vote yield a duly elected President? Answer: no. Fifth question: What, if anything, will people who understand this do about it? Answer: I wish I knew.

We are now a nation in which our Constitution is toothless at best, meaningless at worst. All that's left is power.

Andrew McCarthy utterly misses the point and winds up defending the conclusion on purely pragmatic grounds.

Bald Faced Lies at Salon

Timothy Birdnow

Here is another example of media disinformation and libel.

Trump Attorney Suggests Jesus Wants the Election Overturned: "I'm Doing the Right Thing for God"

This is a lie. Trump is not trying to "overturn" the election; it has not been held yet and there won't be a President Elect until the Electoral College meets. Trump is trying to make certain the votes are actually counted, not manufactured or watered down. That is not "overturning" anything. And that is not what she said. It is not blasphemy to say you are seeking the truth.

Here is the actual quote:

"During an interview on Fox Business, Ellis was asked how she maintains a positive attitude amid setbacks in court and Rudy Giuliani's COVID-19 diagnosis. : "You know, my life is in service and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ," Ellis said. "And so whatever anybody else says really doesn't bother me. I hope that I can be a light and inspiration to everyone else that no matter what anyone else says about you, it's all about just who you are as a person and made in the image of God and in Christ."

"And that's ultimately at the end of the day, as long as I know that I'm pursuing truth and I'm doing the right thing for God and my country, that's all that matters," she added. "So that's what gives me my optimism and my hope."

No blasphemy there, no "Jesus wants me to cheat" or anything else. This is a lie straight out of hell.

If the truth is on the side of the liberals, why do they have to lie?

Psychological Differences Between Left and Right

Timothy Birdnow

Liberals don't believe in a concrete reality. They think everything is conditional based on the observer. Basically they deny Nature and Nature's God. It's a handy little trick to allow them to do as they please. Children often deny reality; the Left is basically a bunch of physically mature children. And they want to be able to do whatever they wish while having others protect them from harm, like babies in a playpen, safe because of the guardrails. Conservatives want to be free to chart their own course and accept the risks - liberals want to be irresponsible and be protected by Big Brother. Leftism really is nothing but Juvenile thinking systematized into a philosophy.

Conservatives and Liberals Motivated by Different Psychological Factors: New Study

Notice too how this research (from the heart of the Deep State, Goldman Sachs) accused Conservatives of "authoritarian" thinking. Huh? I guess the communists are libertarian? I guess National Socialism, which promotes a powerful central government and control of the economy, is part of the "right". (We all know it isn't; it was a slur to tar the Right with an evil of the Left.) I guess the French Revolution didn't chop off the heads of dissenters or imprison them in the Bastille? I guess the Bolsheviks didn't murder the Tsar and his family.

Basically they are saying a belief in the rule of law is somehow authoritarian and oppressive. No mention is made of the fact that the rule of law is the foundation of all liberties; without them we have chaos which then must be ruled by force.

Biden's Gun Grab

Timothy Birdnow

Biden planning major gun grab.

From the article:

Gun policy in America will face "big, bold changes” if Joe Biden is inaugurated in January, according to one of the presumptive president-elect’s top aides last week.

Stef Feldman, the national policy director for Biden’s presidential campaign, said the former-Vice President will use executive action to combat gun violence if Democrats do not gain control of the Senate, the Washington Examiner reported.

During a Zoom briefing hosted by Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service on December 3, Feldman said Biden plans to "make big, bold changes through executive action, not just on policing and climate like we talked about previously, but in healthcare and education on gun violence, on a range of issues.”

Feldman said Biden will implement changes on guns quickly, even prioritizing the issue on his list of initial executive orders.

"There’s really a lot you can do through guidance and executive action,” she said.

And given this election is hotly contested, does anyone even doubt that Biden will want to get guns out of the hands of Red State America as quickly as possible?

Oh, and this means he's probably going to try to pack the courts to prevent them from stopping him.

This from E. Calvin Beisner:

Wow, wow, wow! Murdering Al Quada Terrorist let Out of Prison for Being Too Fat

Timothy Birdnow

Disgusts me to the core! Why haven't we been executing evil monsters like this? What kind of country allows mass murderers to walk because the guy is too fat?

Maybe try putting the SOB on a diet. Seems they have been giving him pretty good food in prison.

Former Bin Laden subordinate released after judge agrees he's too obese to survive coronavirus

I've been asking all along, where are the executions? The Jihadists laugh at us, knowing we are too weak to deal with them.

From El Zoro News:

A former Osama bin Laden henchman convicted intwo deadly 1998 bombingsis free and living in the U.K. this week after being released early — thanks to a Manhattan federal judge who agreed the terrorist was way too obese to survive the coronavirus behind bars.

Adel Abdel Bary, 60, had spent 21 years in a New Jersey prison for his role in the 1998 al Qaeda bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa that killed 224 people, including 12 Americans.

Chinese Espionage

This from Roy Spencer

My personal take on Chinese espionage... get used to it.
It's been nearly 50 years since Nixon opened up public relations with the PRC. In the early 1980s, I had a Chinese scientist come spend 2 years to learn from me... and he had a communist party handler "scientist" who also tagged along.
Here in Huntsville, espionage is a real problem, even at our university. China has over 4 times the population of the U.S., it is only natural that THEY want to be the world's main superpower. The U.S. has dominated global affairs for a very long time now... international financial transactions, currency, standards, technological advances, etc. China wants to take that leadership away from the U.S. It is no secret.

Russia is NOT the problem -- China is. Do not automatically dismiss alleged China connections as "conspiracy theories". It's a real thing, it's been going on for several decades, and it will only get worse in the future.

Get used to it.

Morocco Makes Peace with Israel

Timothy Birdnow

Morocco joins the club and makes peace with Israel.

As part of the agreement, U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara, where there has been a decades-old territorial dispute with Morocco pitted against the Algeria-backed Polisario Front, a breakaway movement that seeks to establish an independent state in the territory.

Trump sealed the agreement in a phone call on Thursday with Morocco’s King Mohammed VI, the senior U.S. official said.

Morocco is the fourth country since August to strike a deal aimed at normalizing relations with Israel. The others were the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan.

Under the agreement, Morocco will establish full diplomatic relations and resume official contacts with Israel, grant overflights and also direct flights to and from Israel for all Israelis.

"They are going to reopen their liaison offices in Rabat and Tel Aviv immediately with the intention to open embassies. And they are going to promote economic cooperation between Israeli and Moroccan companies," White House senior adviser Jared Kushner told Reuters.

Trump has done what decades of diplomats have failed to do; brought peace between Israel and her Arab neighbors. Had he had four more years he would have made a major realignment in the Middle East. He has destroyed ISIS, reduced the American military footprint, and at the same time is opening the door to peace in the region. All of the bright and beautiful people said it was impossible, that we had to create a Palestinian state and bring Iran to the table to guarantee stability.

All that really was needed was some resolve and common sense.

America has rejected this in favor of a return to the waivering and weak policies of the Obama era, which gave us ISIS "the JV team", gave us the massive influx of "refugees" into Europe, gave us a looming Iranian nuclear bomb, and a host of other terrible things. Once Trump is gone Joe "Captain Peachfuzz" Biden will return us to the terrible pucillanimous policies that kept the Middle East on fire.

I find it especially comforting that Morocco is making peace during the Hannukah season. It is perhaps a special gift to the people of Israel at this festive time.

Constitutional Crisis

Judson Phillips

At this point, we are an hour away from the filing deadline for the respondents. At least 18 states have joined Texas in its suit.

At this point, I don't see how SCOTUS does not take this case. We have a constitutional crisis on our hands and a seriously divided nation. I don't see how they can pass on this.

Assuming they accept the case, unless they are going to rule on the merits of the case on Friday, it seems that the Justices will have to issue the injunction the plaintiffs are seeking. If they agree to hear the case, and do not rule immediately, the issues will become mostly moot after the Electoral College meets. I cannot conceive of them having required responses from the defendant states and then not taking the case.

We will know shortly.

Tim adds:

I fear SCOTUS is going to allow the "election" to go forward then rule on it for future generations. They are afraid to interfere.

We knew this was coming. They may not call this martial law but it clearly is.

Men More Likely to be Covid Victims

Timothy Birdnow

I was arguing with a liberal who said black people are more likely to catch Covid because of systemic racism. Does this mean there is systemic sexism?

Men face 'almost three times the odds' of ICU admission for Covid-19, study says

As I pointed out, minorities often carry more weight, they tend to smoke and drink more, and eat more fatty foods. Plus they tend to cluster together, often with multiple generations living cheek-by-jowl in the same residence.

But that doesn't matter to liberals.

The Time for Talk is Past

Selwyn Duke

My latest.

Excerpt:

"People who cannot be reasoned with can only be fought.” It’s an age-old truth, one good people ignore at their own peril. It too often is ignored, though, since good people are mostly reasonable and, in accordance with man’s nature, engage in projection. They thus assume that others are as reasonable as they are.

It’s reasonable to assume that mentioning right now the futility of reasoning with the Left is motivated by the election. It’s also, in my case, untrue. I’ve for decades recognized that devout leftists, emotion-driven and vice-ridden, operate by occultist Aleister Crowley’s "principle,” "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.”

Alito Slams Democrats for Tampering with SCOTUS

Timothy Birdnow

While I admire Alito and his purposes here I'm not sure he's correct; the Constitution did not define the power and scope of the Supreme Court. The Court gave itself the power of judicial review for the Constituionality of laws, for instance, in Marbury V. Madison. Alito is right; Congress didn't create SCOTUS and in that regard has no right to interfere with the workings of the Court, but they have a right to pressure SCOTUS and perhaps reduce funding for the Court if they see fit.

Alito Rightly Slams Five Democratic Senators for "bullying" the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court was created by the Constitution, not by Congress. Under the Constitution, we exercise the judicial power of the United States. Congress has no right to interfere with that work any more than we have the right to legislate."
