The father of the UCLA boy who was an ingrate towards Pres. Trump intervening to save him from jail in China is now ready to demand that the Lakers take all three of his sons on their team or the one son on the team (not a great scorer) will leave the Lakers and become a free agent. I think the dad has just given the Lakers the opportunity of the year to get rid of the one Ball brother on the team. Maybe the dad can try this gimmick on the Harlem Globetrotters. But if his sons were white, they could play for the Washington Generals, the team the Globetrotters consistantly beat. Whatever drugs - or ego trip - the father is on, it will soon be crashing down. more...

I never imagined that a marvelous evening of jazz and art would inspire an article. But when drummer and band leader Tommy Igoe introduced his third number – "Dear Lord, what were you thinking†– with a subtle suggestion that it might have political overtones, there it was.
What indeedwas our Creator thinking, when he gathered those brilliant, classically educated colonial farmers, merchants and tradesmen to debate ideas and craft documents that declared independence from Great Britain and launched an untested form of government that included federalism and an electoral college? Fast forward a couple centuries, and many might ask the same question, as federalism brought us horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing … environmentalism begat fears of a climate cataclysm … and the electoral college changed the face of Washington and American politics.
My article explores all these themes, and more. more...

A lot of people have had a lot of things to say about the Obama portraits. For instance, some science writer named Erin Biba (who's white, by the way) had this to say:
"Dear white people: It is beautiful that the Obama portraits are bringing so much joy to the black community. That is the only opinion you need to have about them."
The biggest complaint seems to be that Michelle Obama's portrait kinda doesn't look like her, at least not at first glance. But a very observant person noticed that Barack has more fingers than most of us.
This from Dana Mathewson
Either that or he has some kind of African carpal tunnel syndrome. Car-pool tunnel?
"Dear Science Writer: It seems to me like you are writing about a subject outside your frame of expertise. But if indeed joy is the only criterion of official portraits, then we have gone a long way down a slope. Not a slippery one, but a downhill one for certain.
From Tim:
Well, the man always did like to keep his middle finger free to employ at will....
And Obama got away with more than the usual five finger discount.
By the way, doesn't that look like pot plants in the background?
Dana again:
They sure do.
By the way, regarding the six-finger look: I never thought I'd get in ahead of the great Ben Shapiro, but I remarked to our private circle that it reminded me of the six-fingered villain in the wonderful movie "The Princess Bride," and immediately put into my head Mandy Patinkin's line (repeated more than once, the last time when he was just about cut into pieces by the villain's sword, "Hello. My named is Inigo Montoya. You keeled my father. Prepare to die!" One of the greatest lines of useless defiance in any movie I can remember, and it made me a fan of Patinkin, even through that awful T.V. show "Criminal Minds." Anyhow, I handed this idea to my friends THREE DAYS before Shapiro put it out into the world (Brag brag)!

The four-page House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligencememorandumhas been available since Feb. 2, detailing abuse by Obama era Justice Department and intelligence officials to illegally spy on the Trump campaign in 2016.
In Oct. 2016, the FBI used the unverified Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Clinton campaign paid for Christopher Steele-Fusion GPS dossier falsely alleging Trump campaign-Russia collusion to obtain a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court warrant against Trump campaign advisor Carter Page — and concealed that information from the court.

"Secrets to Inner Peaceâ€:
If you can start the day without caffeine;
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains;
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles;
If you can eat the same meal every day and be grateful for it;
If you can accept it when your loved ones are too busy to pay attention to you;
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment;
If you can relax without alcohol or tobacco;
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs;
You are probably the family dog.

Missouri is considering a law certain college faculty members to carry firearms to defend against mass shootings.
It's high time; the idea of universities as "gun free zones" is simply begging the unbalanced to attack; they are advertising that they are easy pickings. Only a fool goes up against an armed defense, even when one is planning a murder spree/suicide.

Last week, in between stories of a looming second government shutdown, continuing exchanges of accusations concerning Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. elections, and the Nancy Pelosi DACA filibuster, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a once great American daily newspaper, chose, instead, to headline, in lurid prose, the stock market decline as its lead piece on Tuesday, February 6. The following day, the newspaper, ignoring the market rally, chose to trumpet the fact that a Democrat had defeated a Republican in a special election for a seat in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Concerning the stock market correction of last week, the P.D. headline of this news item was breathless, over-the-top, and even slightly taunting, as the paper informed its readers: "It [the market decline] also threatens to deprive President Donald Trump and the GOP of a favorite talking point at the nascent stages of the 2018 [midterm] campaign." A rough translation of this line would read, "Bad economic news spells Republican electoral disaster, and boy, are we glad we have some bad news to peddle. Let's make it sound as bad as possible!" more...

Writing at American Thinker Jeannie DeAngelis reminds us that Obama was a Chicago activist and his bff David Axelrod admitted on NPR that they used to throw bricks through the Democrat Party office windows and call the press, blaming Republicans. Jeannie then goes on to remind us that Obama interfered with elections - in Kenya (to aid his distant cousin, the Islamist Raila Odinga) and in Honduras and in Libya.

The Pacific island nation of Tuvalu is growing, despite hysterical claims that it was being subsumed by rising ocean levels.
According to Physorg.:
"A University of Auckland study examined changes in the geography of Tuvalu's nine atolls and 101 reef islands between 1971 and 2014, using aerial photographs and satellite imagery.
It found eight of the atolls and almost three-quarters of the islands grew during the study period, lifting Tuvalu's total land area by 2.9 percent, even though sea levels in the country rose at twice the global average." more...

The story of the Lords of the Dance in Utah has me thinking about the decline in education in general and how there is going to come a point when everyone just says no. People have been saying no to public education for some time, with the rise of home schooling and the like. But college education is even more at risk, methinks; the universities have become so restrictive while at the same time charging far more than the education is worth, and their day of reckoning is coming.

In the era of Weinsteinism, the era where #Metoo says women have the absolute right to say no to any unwanted sexual advance, Progressives in a Utah middle school are forcing young ladies to dance with any person who asks, no questions.
It's all about what they call "inclusiveness". Here's the scoop:
"WEST HAVEN, Utah - When Natalie Richard’s sixth-grade daughter told her she couldn’t say "no†if a boy asked her to dance at Kanesville Elementary’s Valentine’s Day dance, she didn’t believe it at first.
"Oh no, no honey," Richard said of her reply. "You guys are misunderstanding again. That’s not how it is."
However, after speaking to her daughter’s teacher, she realized the statement was accurate.
"The teacher said she can’t. She has to say yes. She has to accept and I said, 'Excuse me,†Richard told KSTU."
End excerpt.
This is to avoid hurting any feelings of future snowflakes. more...

The Department of the Interior recently announced the launch of a careful, methodical process to develop a new Five-Year Leasing Plan for the Outer Continental Shelf. Among other things, instead of keeping 94% of the OCS off limits, as was done under the Obama era plan, this new Trump-DOI plan would make 90% of OCS acreage and 98% of its potential energy available for the American citizens who own these valuable resources.
Recent news stories have suggested that Interior has short-circuited the normal planning process, by eliminating the Eastern Gulf of Mexico off Florida from further consideration. This is incorrect, as are other claims about OCS resources, planning processes and environmental safeguards. Here are some important facts and clarifications.
