You won't see this on ABC tv again
The Lord is good to me
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need
The sun and rain and an apple seed
Yes, He's been good to me

Recently
a friend of mine with a small boy asked my help in finding him some
books with American historical significance for a second grade reader. I
went to a used bookstore - and a major chain bookstore - and recalled
my memories of those years. One of the books I found for the boy was
Johnny Appleseed, about the itinerant apple tree planter and later
itinerant preacher in the Nineteenth Century.
In
recalling my early youth, I remembered a song that Dennis Day sang in
the Disney tv program on ABC in the days when Walt himself was the host.
Day sang, as Johnny Appleseed, a beautiful tune called "The Lord Is
Good To Me."
