without Experimental Evidence

Tomer Tamarkin

Professor Richard Feynman, Ph.D., and Noble Prize laurate, on Scientific Theories and the MUST need to prove by experiment.

It doesn’t matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn’t matter how smart you are. If it doesn’t agree with experiment, it’s wrong. In that simple statement is the key to science.

Note that no experimental results support the AGW or global warming theory. None.

Short one minute video of Dr. Feynman while teaching at Caltech in 1965

Tim adds:

What differentiates Science from Philosophy (or religion) is the rigorous application of the scientific method aka observation and experimentation to provide solid evidence for a theory. There have been all manner of theories over the years, be they the geocentric theory of the cosmos or the theory of the Aether, or the Steady State theory, have all failed due to lack of proper evidence, even while often being quite beautiful. If you can't prove it you have to chuck it. Climate change theory seems elegant to so many but in the end it lacks real-world evidence. There is circumstantial evidence - primarily of a very modest planetary warming which may or may not be caused by carbon dioxide, but in the end they can't seal the deal, despite purging anyone who disagrees from any position of authority in any university or major research organization. So even with putting their porcine thumbs on the scales they can't close the deal here. At what point do scientists finally waive the white flag and admit there isn't proper evidence to support this? They won't because vast sums of money are being poured into this as it benefits the political class immensely.

1 If Feynman said it, I believe it.

2 Actually, Tamarkin has it a little bit wrong. Experiments are not proven by experiments, they are proven by valid data. That data may be, and often is, obtained by conducting experiments, but it may be obtained by simple observation as well. Theory proven by observed data is as well proven as is theory proven by data obtained from experimental data. The data does, however, need to be valid.

4 You would be wise to take Feynman on such matters for sure Dana!

5 You're correct Bill, although I am willing to give Dr. Tamarkin the benefit of the doubt for a slight lack of care with his words. But you are correct; it's experimental data or observed data.

6 "Lack of care with his words?" Timothy, please.

"…the MUST need to prove by experiment.”
"If it doesn’t agree with the experiment, it’s wrong.”
"…no experimental results support the AGW…”

I can’t watch the video because your link doesn’t lead to it, but his statements care only about experimentation. He will accept global warming only if it is verified by experimentation. Ridiculous. What sort of experimentation could be done with respect to global climate? The claim is not about words. Insisting on experimental results for climate change is idiotic.

7 Bill, Tomer Tamarkin is a well respected physicist with multiple papers published in the field. While that doesn't give him carte blanche to say whatever he wants and we have to go along with it, I am more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this statement. I think you are splitting hairs here.

8 And Fauci is a well respected doctor with dozens of papers published in his field. Experiment is not a fundamental requirement of scientific discussion, and his specific call for experimental proof of climate change is idiotic.

9 Bill, you are making a mountain out of a molehill. I already conceded you are correct. Dr. Tamarkin is on our side - and I for one am not going to jump all over someone on our side for a bit of careless language. I really don't know why you are doing this. You made your point already.
