I am reminded of the Clint Eastwood movie Heartbreak Ridge; Eastwood is a Gunnery Sgt. reaching his last days in the Marines. He is put in charge of a platoon of screwups and he tells his Commanding Officer "If we go into combat now you'l plant half these men."  Hegseth undoubtedly looked at the situation and concluded the same.

I love the fact Hegseth said he's going to apply the physical fitness standards to generals and admirals too. He said "no more fat generals and admirals" and no doubt he means it. He'll fire ones who can't get their weight down to specs, or can't do pullups or whatnot.
