There is no logic whatever in a president taking a pass on filling a Supreme Court position. All the arguments do not hold water.
1). It's too close to the election and we should let the one who wins in Nov. pick the next SCOTUS.... Why? The president we have now WON the election. And if he wins in Nov., too, we just wasted X number of months.
2). Trump didn't win the majority of votes in 2016, so we should wait until we seen who gets elected in Nov.... Invalid. Bush and Clinton did not win with clear majorities either. Should we have disallowed either of them to ever pick a judge? And what if Biden wins the election, but not with a clear majority? Should he not be allowed to fill the position and we go 4 years without a judge in that sat?
3). Trump should not be allowed to get another SCOTUS pick because he has used his picks to place "extremist conservatives" on the court.... so what? Every Democrat going back to FDR has placed extremist leftists on the courts. No one ever said that wasn't their prerogative.
We elect a president for his agenda. Trump is in office now. He was put there because enough people agreed with his agenda. He has every right to push another SCOTUS pick right away. And if he were a Democrat, he'd still have that right.
4). But, but Ruthie asked that her position go unfilled until after the election! Yeah? Who gives a crap? Her "request" is meaningless and holds no sway or force of law. Her wants and needs are utterly irrelevant in every way possible.
