Why are the Democrats so Desperate?

A discussion on Facebook broke out and I thought it worth reproducing here.

Bob Madden says:

I am hoping the alternative media is right in that he will not be inaugurated. It would probably be nice to see him, and some others hauled away in handcuffs too.

Warner Todd Huston states:

Bob Madden I don't think they see any reason to cover their asses any more.

This from Bob:

Warner Todd HustonIn my experience the democrats always have a reason for doing something. It may be a dumb reason, but it is a reason nonetheless. They always have a reason for doing most anything. What on earth would prompt this behavior?

Warner replies:

Bob MaddenIf they are able to take Trump out, even if it is for one day early, they will win THE biggest victory on any political party in US history. From there they can utterly destroy the Republicans and can set the stage to begin removing all their opposition. Cruz, Hawley, anyone Trump left behind, etc., etc. The media is 100% in their pocket, so this outrageous purge will be sold as a good and moral thing. After they eliminate every conservative Republican they can manufacture, they will begin shutting down all over society with gusto. These fascists do not care about anything but winning. They can just taste the communist end game and they are prepared to go all in.

Bob adds:

Warner Todd HustonNeither impeachment nor the 25th amendment removal can happen before inauguration day, and the rest they are going to attempt anyway. There is just no reason either good, or bad for why they seem to be acting so rashly. It looks like they are afraid of something, and I am just curious what that might be.

Warner Todd HustonMost of what they did to steal the election required a lot of pre-planning well in advance of the election itself. Whether it was the democrats, or their overlords someone had the foresight to line up the software, voting machines, and thousands of ballots. It doesn't matter if the ballots were pre-marked, and loaded into boxes, or suitcases. Someone calling the shots has a modicum of grey matter, or we would not be in this predicament. I try not to assume that my opponent is a complete moron even if it often seems to be true.

Warner replied:

Bob MaddenI feel you are conflating. The people who stole the election is not Nancy Pelosi and her radical band of halfwits in Congress. They are just the meaningless faces of the left. They are all meaningless and interchangeable

Bob replied:

Warner Todd HustonLet me put it to you this way. Lets just say someone was threatening to destroy YOU, your entire family, and anyone who you had ever been close too. They were trying to destroy them all personally, financially, and legally. Would you go quietly?

I added:

Bob Madden I think the Democo-Left knows they didn't win this thing and the turnout at that rally in D.C. scared them. They are moving swiftly now to consolidate power, even if they have no concrete intelligence suggesting they are in any immediate peril. They want to cut the head off the snake, as it were, and destroy Trump now while they can. Bear in mind, it will be harder for them to do it later once passions cool. They need to eliminate him and put the movement for reform in disarray. I heard Ben Shapiro on the radio yesterday and he proved to me yet again he's not really a heavy thinker; he argued this was purely political, a way to hurt the GOP. Why bother? Right now they have won. It's not about the GOP but about the movement Trump spawned and the moves they themselves intend to make in the coming months. They are likely going to start abrogating Constitutional protections, like freedom of speech or assembly or the right to bear arms, and are going to justify it with the "emergency" of "insurrection".
