Why are Climate Refugees Heading SOUTH

Americans go to Mexico to escape Global Warming. By the way it's May 14 and we are still freezing in Minnesota.
Tim replies:
Yeah; global warming is so bad that Cancun saw a 43.8% increase in tourism over the first two months of 2023 v. 2022, according to the Mexican Ministry of Tourism. .In fact, they are bracing for a record year for vacationers. I guess it's too hot in the U.S. and everyone is looking to cool off in Mexico?
So why are refugees heading SOUTH and not north to cooler temperatures?

Hey, now, wait just a minute. On May 14 we were not freezing in Minnesota. We were wearing light-weight jackets -- those of us who are transplanted Minnesotans, and lots of lifetime Minnesotans were going about in t-shirts and shorts. The temperatures got up to about 60 degrees. Yes, we did have light rain in places...
You southerners who are convinced that the whole state of Minnesota is Frostbite Falls are just looking at our politics, which are admittedly nutsy.

Dana, Craig Willms is a lifetime Minnesotan. Not sure why he thinks it is freezing, but apparently he does. I know the lifers there think thirty degrees is swim weather...
