1 Good article -- all should read it! Yes, when I was a kid, magazines like Popular Mechanics and Mechanix Illustrated used to feature articles about the expected development of flying cars, and personal helicopters. I kept waiting for it to happen.

2 Me too! My grandmother got Popular Mechanics and I would read it when we went to visit. Loved the idea then and wish it had come true.

There were a lot of other innovations that never saw the light of day. Hovercraft, for instance. The monied classes didn't want these things out there, I fear. It always goes back to who is making money off of keeping these things from market.
