This from the party that gave America Robert Byrd.
Hopeless Hypocrites: Same Dems Calling Jeffries Sombrero Meme Racist Fought to Put Blackface Kimmel Back on TV
Byrd was actually a grand cyclops, or grand cleagle, or whatever they call their ripest cheese, in the Ku Klux Klan and he was an honored Senator for decades - a DEMOCRAT.
And it was the Democrats who opposed the Civil Rights ACt, not Republicans.
Naturally Trump poking fun at Democrats with Hakeem Jeffries wearing a sombrero led to immediate charges of "racism!" I would like these people to actually give a definition of racism, a concrete definition. The word has stretched like Plastic Man until it no longer has any meaning at all except "you suck".
Racism is a specific thing, and it means to HATE other races and wish them ill. It is NOT having a little fun at the Democrat's expense. Back in the '70's they used to use a term "prjudice" which was a catch-all that the word racist now replaces, and it meant out of ignorance or perhaps even out of a poor-taste sense of humor feeding into stereotypes. It was itself created to tar anyone on the right, but it lacked the punch of racist so it was retired in favor of the more vile term. Racism equates with Naziism and the Klan and other truly evil things.
How, pray tell, does an AI image of Jeffries - a black man - in a sombrero (a Mexican and other Latin American article of clothing) insult anyone BUT Mr. Jeffries? What if they had put Jeffries in a big afro hairdo and had him holding fried chicken, would that be better? That at least would be a "racist" representation that comports with Mr. Jeffries background. They would have a case if Trump had done that (although I think we all need to lighten up a bit on good-natured charicaturing). I would point out that until recent years political cartoonists often portrayed politicians as obesely fat and nobody thought the worse of that. Now you can only do such things to Christians and MAGA folks.
If the Democrats and the media don't like this they shouldn't practice it against the other side. The do such things all the time to Conservatives. Look at the things they said and did about Rush Limbaugh because he had a weight problem, for instance. And of course if they aren't poking fun at Conservatives they are calling us Hitler and Fascists and saying we hate all Mankind. Look at what's been said about Charlie Kirk in recent weeks! That's apparently o.k. while it's not o.k. to use a computer to put a sombrero on Hakeem Jeffries.
Saul Alinski said ridicule is Man's most potent weapon and the Democrats and the media understand the power of what Mr. Trump is doing here; he's ridiculing Jeffries and the Democrats and they have no way to stop it. Their solution is to scream "RACIST!" because they can't answer this in any way. And they dare not allow Republicans to ridicule them because then they look weak and stupid and everyone laughs at them as they are walking away.
It's why the media wouldn't allow a single laugh at Obama; he had to be protected from any and all ridicule, despite his being a ridiculous stick-figure of a man with enormous Dumbo elephant ears and a face that resembled the Joker from Batman. Remember when Maureen Dowd made a crack about his ears and he personally confronted her and demanded she desist "I'm sensitive about my ears" and Dowd said "I was trying to toughen you up". That set the tone; the media would allow not one single light-hearted crack about Obama in any way. They had read their Alinsky.
Jimmy Kimmel has appeared in blackface more than once publicly, by the way. Why wasn't that racist?
Why wasn't it racist when Hillary Clinton met with black supporters (I believe it was the NAACP but don't recall exactly) and adopted a black southern accent "I ain't in now ways tired, I come to far to turn back now" she said in a Souther Baptist drawl. That wasn't the first time she would do that, and it wasn't the last. It was entirely disingenuous; Hillary is the whitest of white bread women, born and raised in Chicago (she still has a Chicago accent after all these years elsewhere) and spending her youth in Washington and the surrounding areas. Her only exposure to the South was her years in Little Rock, and she lived in the Governor's mansion most of them and thus was not exposed to Southern ways. I doubt she had any friends down there (she's a horribly dislikable person) and those she did were very wealthy and did not rub elbows with poor people, white or black. Yet Hillary was given a pass for insulting black Southerners. Trump puts one sombrero and one mustache on a BLACK American and he's somehow being racist.
The article points to a series of statement by Chuck U. Schumer (Rush Limbaugh used to call him that) that were both startlingly candid and probably why Chuckie is in so much trouble now with his party:
We have no voters left because of all of our woke trans bulls***.
Not even black people want to vote for us anymore.
Even Latinos hate us, so we need new voters.

And if we give all these illegal aliens free healthcare, we might be able to get them on our side, so they can vote for us.
They can’t even speak English, so they won’t realize we’re just a bunch of woke pieces of s***, you know, at least for a while, until they learn English.
And they realize they hate us, too.
I haven't verified these statement - they were part of the article I cited from Western Journalism. I suspect a few of them are not accurate. But he no doubt did say something similar (if less vitriolic) and he and the other old line leaders of the party undoubtedly realize that the Democrats have walked down a cul-de-sac and are now facing an unclimbable wall. So they have to attack, attack, attack; it's all you can do when your back is against the wall.
It's all Democrats know HOW to do anyway. They haven't had to fight a defensive battle since FDR, or at least Jimmy Carter.
So the "sombrero is racist" accusation is what is left them. Such attacks always worked in the past. They just don't understand Mr. Trump is cut from a different cloth than the career Republicans who have haunted the Capital all these years. Oh, and the media is not trusted. And people video this stuff with their phones so the Democrats can't deny it any longer. And the Democrats have overused racism, much like the Boy Who Cried Wolf. They have nothing new to deploy at this point.
I wonder what they think of people like, say, Harry Belafonte' and his songs about Carribean laborers? How is The Banana Boat Song any better than Jeffries in a Sombrero? Are the Democrats ready to denounce the late Belafonte' as a racist? He was certainl a good Democrat.
