Weaponized Chicken

Timothy Birdnow

Judson Phillips forwards this:

My arteries are hardening just looking at this.

A word from Tim:

That's like something the Soviets would have invented to use as a bioweapon against us!

1 Yep. Russia! Russia! Russia!

2 It says this is "for people who are actively against any remotely healthy food." I would say it is for people who are against food.

Fried chicken is certainly food. It is really good food. A fried chicken sandwich is not food. It is, at best, fodder. It is an offense to epicurian sanity, even if it is made with some sort of bread. Fried chicken should be accompanied with bisquits, and they should be on the side, buttered and possibly with honey, and eaten in separate bites.
It is utterly uncivilized to serve fried chicken with donuts, let alone between two of them.

3 Fried chicken with biscuits, or fried chicken with waffles (better yet) are top-notch foods. The latter has even made its debut on more than one episode of "Beat Bobby Flay," so it can claim its place in high food places. (Personally, although fried chicken is one of my all-time favorites, I will give the waffles a pass since they just make too much bulk. Give me a few fries, even waffle-cut fries, if you must.)

4 Fried chicken with bisquits and gravy or mashed potatoes with gravy and of course green beans!

I never did get the waffle craze; too much sugar added to too much starch to your fried chicken.

I never did like to play dress up with my food; there is a natural order to food, and some things just are against Nature and Nature's God. There's a place around my house which fries chicken in what tastes exactly like funnel cake batter!  It's an abomination from Hell!

5 Fried chicken and waffle is supposedly Southern cuisine.

Listen. My grandmother grew up on a plantation in Milliken's Bend, Louisiana. She worked for a couple of decades as dietician at Louisiana State University. Geaux Tigers. I grew up eating her fried chicken and, even better, that made by my uncle's cook in Shreveport, who called me "Mister William." When she knew I was coming she went out and bought extra chickens.

I have never seen fried chicken and a waffle on the same plate in my entire life.

6 Likewise Bill. My Great Grandmother was from Arkansas and lived in southern Missouri and she made the best fried chicken I have ever tasted, but never a waffle in sight. (It was worth the long drive from St. Louis down to Bismark Mo. just for that chicken, let me tell you!) If your grandmother from Louisiana didn't do it  I don't imagine it was much of a southern affair.

I read once that actually it was a New York City thing; it captured the cusp diners who worked graveyard shift. Maybe.
