I'm wondering about this, though. The thing is, why would the largest retailer in the world want to create a hostile environment for the majority of its customers?

I don't know Dana, but businesses these days - particularly these international corporations - act as though the customer doesn't matter. That tells me they fear someone - or something - far more than the wrath of their own bread and butter.
Government? The Chinese? Somebody is pulling the strings here, and it ain't the consumer.

The three Walmart stores in our general area sure hire a lot of Somali women. I assume the management people who do the hiring are white. If they're so racist, why are they hiring so many blacks?
But I fear you're right in that corporations are not paying attention to their customers.

And with all due respect to immigrants I would add that Somalis are probably less desirable as employees. They come from a culture where thievery is the norm, and I would add customer service isn't a known Somali trait.
But it's white racism that's the problem, yessiree.

Oh, you're right about that. I have to admit that on the rare occasion I have to interact with one of the Somali employees at Walmart, it's always a calm, gentle and successful interaction. Of course, I tend to smile at store workers as a reflex action, so that may not hurt.

Well it's good you have had pleasant interactions with them. I've heard stories.

This article is soon to migrate to Page Two, where it'll be forgotten. But I wanted to give you a quote, since what we're discussing is akin to race: Steven Hayward, in an article on Power Line, said "It is a handy axiom that liberals call you a racist whenever they are about to lose an argument (which is why they throw the charge around so often)."

Oh yes; Hayward is right. It is proof you beat them, usually.
