Backpacks for Life, the veterans' charity often written about about by myself at the Aviary, and my personal favorite, is up for an award at the Streetshares Foundation for best Veterans Small Business. A number of our readers may well recall the older stories and the most recent ones involving their new backpack designed for homeless veterans which is also practical for back country hikers and campers.

I have to note this online voting page is a bit confusing - or it was to me. The top part asks for a membership login (not really required). One has to scroll down the webpage to enter your name, etc., before being directed to page with the finalists in their best Veterans Small Business contest where you can vote for Backpacks for Life. And on that page as well, you will have to scroll down to the bottom to cast your vote.

A few weeks ago, I suggested that Backpacks for Life founders Brett D'Alessandro and Alexa Modero contact Townhall.com to tell them about their charity. This resulted in Townhall's Micah Rate writing a wonderful detailed article about them that can be seen here. Not only that, but that article has been left up on their website and featured in the Townhall.com morning broadcast email update for twenty-four straight days, something I have never seen before in my decades of both reading and writing at political websites. When you read it, you will see why Townhall.com has "adopted" them, as Brett and Alexa's spirits shine through the piece.
