Trump Punks the Media

Timothy Birdnow

Democrats and the media still haven't figured Trump out yet. They still take him literally and never do get the joke - which is invariably on them.

Case in point.

Yes, Trump keeps bringing up the idea he might seek a third term in office and it has the Left beside themselves. They really do believe he will simply suspend the Constitution to make it happen.

Trump is yanking their chains and laughing as he does so. He knows he can't run (unless a Constitutional Amendment is passed) and that he can only either do what Obama did - stay in Washington and run things from the sidelines - or he could try to run as Veep and then take over when whoever is President resigns. That is murky legal waters but I rather suspect SCOTUS could well accept the argument since the law is not specific about the matter and ambiguity usually negates the spirit of the law. Of course it's never been tried and many states would no-doubt leave a ticket with Trump on it off the ballots and they could make a strong legal case for doing so.

No, Trump is just punking them and they are falling for it. It gets them all worked up with no place to go, and they waste time on following a dummy trail.

it's always delightful to watch Trump play the media!

1 It's really amazing that Trump, as only one man, has more of a sense of humor than all the leftist/liberals in Washington combined.

If you'll permit a personal note, it reminds me of my grandparents. My grandmother had no more sense of humor than a houseplant, whereas my grandfather had a tremendous sense of humor and could "punk" her to the day he died -- or the day she died, I don't remember which happened first.
The result was that of the five (I think) children of theirs that lived to grow up to adulthood, two took after their mother and the rest didn't, though one of the latter got her rollicking sense of humor from my father and mother, with whom she lived for awhile during a time when she was going to nursing school, and Dad said "We'll give her a sense of humor if it kills us." I wasn't there yet and don't know how they did it, but it worked; she was my favorite aunt and was a delight.
What about the other two, you wonder? They were male, and served hitches in the Coast Guard. I think that must have explained it.

2 My father's mother, "Granny", used to make the eye rolling statement that, "There bisquits didn't cost me anything because I already had all the ingredients." Deadpan straight face. Only the sparkle in her bright blue eyes would give her away.

3 I'm surprised your grandpa married your grandma. "Mixed marriages" where one party has a sense of humor and the other doesn't can't be much fun.

Bill, your grandmother sounds like my kind of person!

4 Back in those day, people married for many things, and sense of humor was way down the list.

5 True enough Dana. My great grandmother was a bible-thumping tee-totaler and she married a roustabout from the railoroad. They lived on a farm in the backwoods and grandpa would leave for two-three day trips for his job but always told her he was coming back one day later so he could drink in the bar on his last night (he'd spend the night in the little town's only hotel.) Not sure what led to the marriage but I gather they were quite mismatched.

My dad (who lived there half the year) said one time his grandpa was lying face-down on the drive up to the house. He told his grandmother and she went down and they simply brought him up and put him to bed (she and her farm hands.) He was three sheets to the wind, apparently. Grandma never said anythng about it.

Oh, and great grandfather was a good Roosevelt Democrat while Grandma hated the man (the only time she ever used curse words was when talking Roosevelt) and always voted Republican.

She was a spitfire; 4 foot 9 and 90 pounds of fire. She took in a black woman and her children and one night the Klan showed up in full regalia, demanind she turn the family over to them. Remember, this was in the deep woods and there was no police coming and the Sheriff may well have been one of the Klansmen for all anyone knew. Granny went into the house, came out with a double-barrelled shotgun, and assured the men they were either leaving peaceably or leaving in a pine box. They left peaceably and never returned.

6 Women were tough in those days and (most) men respected that.
