Trump Mulling Purchase of Greenland

Trump wants to buy Greenland and develop her oil and mineral resources, according toan article in Live Science.

So what would America get out of it? Well, we'd get a major chunk of land in the extreme north Atlantic and the Arctic, for starters. We operate a number of bases there, such as Thule, and it gives us a lot of protection from missile launches from Russia. The Russians have been expanding into the Arctic in violation of international law, and the Chinese have made noises about doing likewise. it makes sense for us to beef up our presence there. And we can develop the islands, unlike Denmark.
It would just depend on the price. How much would Denmark be willing to let them go for? Maybe we can use Greenland to house all of the illegal immigrants invading American soil? Just a thought.

This isn't the first time the United States has expressed an interest in purchasing Greenland. The territory is located in a strategic spot, just below the Arctic Ocean, between Canada and Europe. President Andrew Jackson's administration (1829-1837) floated the idea of buying the island, as did an 1867 report by the U.S. State Department, the BBC said. President Harry Truman even offered Denmark $100 million for Greenland in 1946, though nothing came of the proposal.
