Trump facing Prosecution

Timothy Birdnow

Andrew McCarthy says Donald Trump is likely to be indicted. From Fox News:

"But when Cohen pleaded guilty in August, prosecutors induced him to make an extraordinary statement in open court: the payments to the women were made "in coordination with and at the direction of” the candidate for federal office – Donald Trump.

Prosecutors would not have done this if the president was not on their radar screen. Indeed, if the president was not implicated, I suspect they would not have prosecuted Cohen for campaign finance violations at all. Those charges had a negligible impact on the jail time Cohen faces, which is driven by the more serious offenses of tax and financial institution fraud, involving millions of dollars.

Moreover, campaign finance infractions are often settled by payment of an administrative fine, not turned into felony prosecutions. To be sure, federal prosecutors in New York City have charged them as felonies before – most notably in 2014 against Dinesh D’Souza, whom Trump later pardoned."

[...]

"Nevertheless, the sentencing memo in Cohen’s case reads like an ode to campaign finance laws. Unlike other types of pleadings, which can be dry and legalistic, sentencing memoranda are meant to persuade the sentencing judge, and they often read like dramatic jury arguments."

End excerpts.

Read the rest at Fox.

I don't know if the powers that be understand that they are openly overturning the will of the People and that America may well blow up over this - up to and including violece. The enemies of the president think this is just an inside-the-beltway thing and that Middle America will go along as it always has. But what it will say to middle America is that we are ruled, not governed, and that the elites will do whatever they please. That is the road to revolution.

They are playing with fire.

1 I distrust Andy McCarthy's judgement about this because he's still holding on too much to his view of how the DoJ worked when he was there, WRT to Trump and "Russia! Russia! Russia!" he's made assumptions in the past based on DoJ/Mueller documents and statements using that knowledge that have turned out to be wrong, and that he later admitted were wrong.

But, yeah, they could go for it, despite the issue that I think he pointed out that these laws are born in sin because they're direct attacks on core political speech supposedly guaranteed in the First Amendment.

We'll see, and in the meanwhile I'll repeat this bit of wisdom from the WRSA, "You really and truly don't yet have enough ammo, food, medication, and hard-hearted friends to prevail against the Reds."  If they try to remove Trump based on this bull****, it could get arbitrarily ugly, and those of your team who are in NYC had better vamoose quickly, killing big Blue cities is ever more on the table now that nukes are.  Not a desirable way to "drain the swamp", but who knows if hot shooting Civil War 2.0 starts.

2 I agree about McCarthy; he's been wrong more than a few times. Still, it's one guy to at least listen to because he may be right. I hope not.

All of the cities are full of Marxists. St. Louis, where I live, is certainly no exception, so a civil war would likely hit me pretty hard. I don't know if Americans have the grit for it, as in the olden days. I DO believe if it ever comes down to that the Left will lose, because they only have the cities - they are in the same position Chiang Kai Shek was in during the Chinese civil war. Mao won because he had the countryside and the Nationalists were bottled up, dependent on the country for food and whatnot. And the Right has the guns, too, plus the lower echelon of the military. But any way you slice it, a civil war would be a bad thing for everyone. Far better for us to win politically. Revolutions and civil wars tend to go places nobody imagined or wanted.
