Trump Didn't Sign Off on Bringing Coronavirus to America

Timothy Birdnow

According to Fox News President Trump was furious that Americans infected or exposed to Coronavirus were brought back to the U.S. without his authorization.

From the article:

President Trump was furious that 14 Americans infected with the coronavirus returned to the United States without his permission rather than remain in quarantine overseas, according to a new report.

Trump hadbeen briefed that the healthy U.S.passengers who spent weeks quarantined aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan would be allowed to flyhome on two chartered planes -- while those who were sick or infected would stay in Japan to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

The president became "furious" with senior advisers after learning the 14 Americans who tested positive had been put on aplane with healthy passengers, according to The Washington Post. One official told the paper that the failure to inform Trump of the decision in advance of the plane's departure was a "big operational mistake.”

Indeed it was - especially flying those exposed people home on a crowded flight! If any were infected the whole plane could have come down with the disease.

If the authorities are as worried about this disease as they seem to be, they should be isolating people who have been exposed to it.

This reminds me of the Ebola outbreak a few years ago. I had a nasty argument with a guy claiming to be a microbiologist who insisted it was perfectly acceptable to bring Ebola patients into the U.S. While this argument took place at Tea Party Nation's website, the guy was a liberal and he was eager to bring a bunch of Guinneans here. I looked up a number of papers by credible people on the subject - Peter Jahrling of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, for example, and showed that Ebola could indeed become airborn. Also, I showed that Ebola mutated and that it could mutate here in the States and we could wind up with an epidemic. He was having none of it, and kept insisting it was safe.

Why?  Why not err on the side of caution?  It's the Liberal mindset; America has to take whatever everyone else gets. The idea is we deserve no special place and have no right to protect ourselves from the vicissitudes of the rest of the world. It's a kind of moral judgement they pass on America. What right have WE to keep our borders closed to people with a lethal illness when other countries can't! Eventually my inerlocutor lost patience (because he lost the argument) and insulted me and left the group. (Typical liberal.)

I rather suspect something similar was happening here. The State Department is full of Progressives from the Hillary Clinton school, and they believed they had no right to keep the Coronavirus out when China and other nations were stuck with it. No doubt a few of the more radical there actually would like to see America taken down a peg or two, and of course they would like to see Donald Trump embarassed by this. It would illustrate the folly of national borders, too.

At any rate, if Trump is furious he has every right to be. Hopefully heads will roll.

1 We are NOT happy to see that coronavirus is rearing its ugly head in Italy! The daughter of one of the families we love very much at the church where Martha plays is taking one of her college years in Italy right now, and of course, we're worried about her.

2 Yeah; it's a bit scary, especially since she'll no doubt be rubbing elbows in airports and whatnot.

Shell pearls, also known as simulated or imitation pearls, are man-made pearls created using the shells of mollusks or other materials. They are crafted by coating a shell or a synthetic bead with layers of pearlescent material to mimic the appearance of natural pearls. Shell pearls offer an affordable alternative to natural pearls. Shell pearl
