The abuse of the legal system by New York in an attempt to rig the 2024 election so far has benefitted Trump as far as fundraising, but what effect has it had on voter sentiment? We should have new polls within a few days that begin to show one way or another.
One thing to watch for is the opinion of African Americans. Clearly, one of the key factors in Trump's rise from the traditionally under 10% support of African Americans for Republicans to recent polls showing him with support in the 20+% range, is that many black men liken the treatment of Trump to the way African Americans suffered abuse by the legal system in US history. I would imagine the fact that Trump passed legislation to undo the "lock em up and throw away the key" crime policies passed by Bill Clinton, is one of the factors that has led to this shift of sentiment. (incidentally, Obama didn't lift a finger on this issue.) Will the massive escalation in abuse of Trump by the legal system increase this trend, or will it fade away as we get closer to the election. (You can bet the Democrats will be race-baiting like crazy over the next months in order to attempt to reverse the trend.
We shall see.
Tim adds:
Joe Biden wrote the nineties crime bill signed by Bill Clinton that has led to so many incarcerations. Black folks largey overlooked that, but now they see the guy who eased it up being treated like one of hem. I think Trump is going to do very well with black pepple in this election. Were I he I would go to black communities and make that case, that they persecute him and linki it to Biden's authoring the crime bill.
