Top Grossing Movie About Chinese Defeat of U.S.

Frank Lasee

Does this give you any idea of what might be going on in the minds of the Chinese?

"As the Chinese box office is the largest in the world, "The Battle at Lake Changjin” is technically the biggest film in the international movie market, even outearning the new James Bond flick, "No Time To Die,” according to the industry outlet.”

1 All other things being equal, the side that can throw more soldiers onto the field will win. That's how Stalin defeated Hitler. Stalin didn't care how many Russian soldiers got killed because he had more to replace them. And if push comes to shove, it's pretty evident that Xi thinks that way too.

3 Agreed. It's why America always planned on wars of attrition; we had more men. Not anymore.

If you ever read All Quiet on the Western Front in the end the main character complains that the Allies soldiers are fresh and young and his men never even get a day off. As he says, they aren't braver or stronger just fresher and there are more of them. He knew the end was coming.

That's where we'll be if it comes to that.

4 I have to admit I never read the book. And it was pretty much "required reading" for intelligent people.

5 It wasn't  really a book for thinking people so much, but it did give a sense of what it was like.

6 I remember reading of an instance toward the end of WW II where some American soldiers were being captured by Germans, and the German officer spoke good English. One of the GIs said to him "You know, you guys can't win this war. Time works for us, not for you. Our manufacturing capacity is growing every day while yours is being bombed." There was more; I wish I could find that -- it might have been in the book "Germans," by George Bailey. Also, I don't remember if the German officer's response was noted. Or if he even had one.

7 Well, the point is valid. Every German (or Japanese) soldier lost was irreplaceable. We (and the Russians) could keep sending more. And our equipment could be replaced. Theirs couldn't. And they didn't have enough oil.

Yamamoto didn't want to attack the U.S. He had gone to school here and knew what we could unleash if pushed. His plan was to invade California to shock us into a quick surrender. He then wanted to negotiate extremely generous terms just to get us out of the war. He told his bosses ''I'll run wild for six months, then the U.S. industrial power will win out."

He was right.

It was the same reason the Confederacy had no chance of winning the Civil War, despite having the great Robert E. Lee as Commander in Virginia.
