If you ever read All Quiet on the Western Front in the end the main character complains that the Allies soldiers are fresh and young and his men never even get a day off. As he says, they aren't braver or stronger just fresher and there are more of them. He knew the end was coming.
That's where we'll be if it comes to that.

He was right.
It was the same reason the Confederacy had no chance of winning the Civil War, despite having the great Robert E. Lee as Commander in Virginia.
