Throwing Out the Soul of CrackerBarrel

Timothy Birdnow

Cracker Barrel is
now beggin it's customers not to Budlite them.

The statement reads in part:

"If the last few days have shown us anything, it's how deeply people care about Cracker Barrel. We're truly grateful for your heartfelt voices," Cracker Barrel said. "You've also shown us that we could've done a better job sharing who we are and who we'll always be.

And yet they are still not promising to keep Cracker Barrel as it was; they are insistent on changing it, maiking it "modern country" and essentially an entity of "equity".

They continue:

"While our logo and remodels may be making headlines, our bigger focus is still right where it belongs… in the kitchen and on your plate: serving generous portions of the food you crave at fair prices and doing it with the kind of country hospitality that brightens your days and creates lasting memories," Cracker Barrel said. "Meatloaf, chicken n' dumplins, country fried steak, sides that taste like Sunday supper, and yes, the world's best pancakes, they're all still here, with a few new dishes joining the menu.

What they aren't saying is they are eliminating the old cracker from the Cracker Barrel logo - the old country white dude. There was and remains no reason to do that except as part of "outreach" to women and minorities aka wokeness.

I've also read they planned on some other changes, like putting rainbow flags on the walls and other bows to the post modernist madness.

Cracker Barrel isn't just selling food, nor is it just selling beads and trinkets in their store; it's selling nostalgia. It feels like a throwback to an earlier, simpler time. And part of nostalgia is it doesn't change; it's a fixed point in our memories. "Updating" or "modernizing" a piece of nostalgia simply destroys it.

There were things at Cracker Barrel you could count on. The store, for instance, sold old candies that are no longer available. They sold old sodas you can't find. They sold games and toys that came from our childhood. Pure nostalgia.

And the food has already changed; the portion sizes shrunk down considerably. Time was I had to take most of a meal home, but the last time I was in a cracker barrel I ate it all; it was less than half the portions they used to give.

So the food has declined and now the atmosphere is going to decline to please some malcontented leftists. Can't have an old white guy on your logo! It was bad enough they forced the retirement of Aunt Jemimah and Uncle Ben; now they can't allow white mascots either.

The Left hates the past and does everything in their power to rewrite it. Disappearing remnants of that past is part of their war on the old ways. This is no differnt; "modernization" of Cracker Barrel is but a tool to make us forget our past, make us think that this diseased modern era is all there ever was.

We must believe America was wholly rotten since it's founding and only by eliminating all that was good can we they make us think that.

So I say let's smite them with great anger and furious wrath. Their stocks have already dropped by 13%; let's drop it down below 50%! They must be made to suffer for this, and the CEO, an obvious feminazi woman, must be forced out. Until she's gone and the others who made this decision we should not patronize this establishment. Bob Evans is just as good, go there.

Corporations must fear their customers more than they fear the loud-mouthed Left. Until they do they will continue to insult us because they have nothing to fear from us but a LOT to fear from the radical crazies.

BTW I found this in their own company website:

Uncle Herschel | The Soul of Cracker Barrel

The man on that logo that President and CEO Julie Felss Masino is kicking to the curb is none other than the "soul of Cracker Barrel" himself, Uncle Herschel. If they toss aside their own soul so easily how much more will they betray their customers? How much more will they betray America?

1 Since you popped up with this article, Cracker Barrel has thrown in the (dish) towel, ditched the new logo and gone back to its beloved "old timer," according to Fox News. Makes no difference to THIS old timer, since I never went to that miserable greasy spoon anyhow, but I do hope the move has a positive effect on their stock price!

2 Ah...thank you Dana! I hadn't heard that.

They still need to fire the CEO and anyone else involved in this.

I disagree though; I've always liked Cracker Barrrel food. Reminds me of my Great Grandmother, who lived in a small town in backwoods Missouri and who had been a farmer and cooked like one (everything was fried in lard and she used real cream in other stuff and grew all her own vegetables and whatnot. By the time I was around she was lilving on the outskirts of town  (having lost the farm to the Revenuers) but she had over an acre of ground and a huge garden. But no live chickens when she fried 'em - and hers were the best fried chickens in the state.

I love their gravy and make biscuits and gravy when I go there. But as I say, Bob Evans is just as good (or almost anyway) and they have yet to insult me.

BTW my Great Grandmother's neighbor on her block (they were the only two) was named - Bob Evans! He kept cattle and had a pond across the street from Granny.

(Yes Dana, this is the woman who chased the Ku Klux Klan off her property in the dead of night with her trusty double barrel.)
