A poll conducted by University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics shows nearly one-third of American voters believe they may have to take up arms against the United States government.
The poll of 1,000 registered voters was conducted from "May 19 to May 23 among 1,000 registered voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.53 percentage points,†The Hill reports.
"Republican pollster Neil Newhouse and Democratic pollster Joel Benenson with input from students at the [Institute of Politics]â€conducted the survey.
On July 24, theHill reported the pollsters found that "twenty-eight percent of all voters, including 37 percent of gun owners, agreed ‘it may be necessary at some point soon for citizens to take up arms against the government.'â€
When responses were broken down by party affiliation, the poll showed 33 percent of Republican voters and 35 percent of Independent voters believe it may be necessary to take up arms.
One in every five Democrat voters believe they may have to take up arms as well.
The poll shows that nearly half of American voters–49 percent–agree with the statement that they "more and more feel like a stranger in my own country.â€

I'm in your boat as well. Not so old but given my health I would not be joining such actions.
No doubt the pollsters are trying to head this very thing off and are producing these results now to light a fire under the Jan. 6 Commission and the Republicans straddling the fence on this issue. The U. of Chicago is, after all, a radical place, home to the Communist terrorist Bill Ayers. No doubt they want to use this poll to justify draconian crackdowns on civil liberties.
But I think there IS a serious growing discontent with the rule of the elites and the radical plans they have for the U.S.
I feel like America has turned into something alien and perhaps evil. I'm quite a bit younger than you too, so you must REALLY feel that way.
This isn't even close to the America I grew up in - and that was a big departure over the America of the 1950's.
It's not as if we chose this too, but rather it was compelled by our government and ruling class. It was they who chose this internationalism. It was they who chose to coddle criminals and terrorists and thugs. It was they who chose to promote deviant sexual behavior. It was they who have driven every bad impulse of this country, including endless warfare overseas, "green energy", and countless other abominations used to shackle the People.
At some point the People will push back.

Mao won the Chinese civil war because he owned the countryside while Chiang Kai Shek had his power base in the cities. When push came to shove the Nationalists were bottled up and Mao could starve them out.
That's the position we are in and I suspect the Left - at least the deeper thinkers on the Left - know that. It's why they freaked out about the Jan. 6 self-guided Capitol tour. They have to lull us into complacency because they can't win if a civil war erupts and I think they know it.
