The Trumpet that Ever Calls Retreat Sounded At American Thinker

Writing at American Thinker the normally lucid Ned Barnett seems to have suffered an aneurism in his thinking on the Roy Moore libel attack.
He argues: "When a conservative Republican is charged with tapping his foot in a bathroom stall, he is hounded out of the Senate. Is that obvious double standard fair? No. In fact, "hell no!" But is it right? Absolutely.
Why? Because we're the good guys – we're supposed to stand for something. This means that one of the prices we pay for being the good guys is that some of us will fall (at least until he can be vindicated) by unsubstantiated (or at least unproven) allegations.
What Roy Moore should do is step aside "until I can clear my name." Then he should take his accuser to court and demand that she prove her charges or admit her allegations as libelous slander. Then, vindicated, Roy can run for Session's seat when the interim senator has to face re-election in three years.
Is it fair? Of course not. But since we're the good guys, this is part of the price we pay for being good. So is it right? Hell, yes! Step aside, Roy, and if you're innocent, clear your name, then come back and win your ultimate vindication."

Would somebody please dial 911 for an ambulance for Mr. Barnett; he is clearly having some sort of a neurological breakdown.
By his logic any accusation, no matter how specious or unprovable, is ground for removing a conservative because "we are the good guys". So Jesus - who hung around with prostitutes and tax collectors - should have stepped down from His ministry because He was the "good guy" and had to first clear His name. So Thomas Jefferson would never have been President and we would not have purchased the Louisiana territory, nor fought the Barbary pirates. So Grover Cleveland would never have been president, nor Chester Arthur. Nixon, George H.W. Bush, even Ronald Reagan have bee accused of sexual misconduct at some point. By the logic employed here all of the3se men should simply have withdrawn from public life.
What Barnett is suggesting is we give ultimate veto power to the Left over any of our candidates. All one must do is find someone nto make an accusation, no matter how specious or impossible to prove. I would point out that it is much harder, nay, impossible to prove a negative, so all that is needed is to find someone with a murky accusation, one without enough specifics to clearly disprove.
If the Democrats won't operate on the same field - and they won't - then we have handed them a tool for total victory. This is stupid beyond words. And the fact is being a good guy does not mean we we be fools about it. It should be pointed out that the Bible says the Devil is the "accuser of the brethren" who "stands before the throne and accuses the brethrrn night and day". This is exactly what is happening in this instance; a devout Christian who beat the odds is being accused of something that he cannot possibly defend against, and the whole point is to get him to resign, not prove his innocence. Frankly, it is utterly impossible to prove his innocence against a charge such as this.
The author makes some other dubious points, like the fact that this woman claims she was a Trump voter. I won't accept that without actual proof. It also should be pointed out that it is too late for Moore to be replaced on the ballot and that there would have to be a write in campaign. Does Mr. Barnett really believe the voting public is going to write in Luther Strange? It ins't going to happen. Now, maybe if Jeff Sessions would resign at AG and run...
By the way, one of the accusers turns out to turns out to have been a worker in the Hillary campaign and was caught altering her Facebook page.
But none of this is the point. The GOP is doing to Moore what they did to Todd Akin, namely cutting off all funding and assistance. But Akin at least was provably guilty of stupidity, while Moore is not provably guilty of anything. If we really are the good guys we would give him the benefit of the doubt; this is the first and only time any such accusations have ever been leveled against Moore. Fairness is the hallmark of good guys, not craven surrender to our enemies based on an unrealistic idealism. The good guys don't just wear white hats; they ride horses and shoot bad people. Craven cowardice is not the hallmark of the good guys.
I do hope Barnett had more than an Obamacare health policy; he needs medical attention.

The Washington Post failed to disclose that one of Moore's accusers was a sign language interpreter for Joe Biden and is a volunteer for Moore's Democrat opponent.
