Here is an analysis of the unlamented dead border bill. It was clearly a Trojan Hearse.
That any Republicans signed on with it is disgraceful. Every last one of them needs to be primaried and removed from office.

But you may remember when we primaried Eric Cantor and replaced him with Dave Brat. That worked out pretty well. There are other examples.
Dana, this is the problem; we fear losing seats to the point where we let the GOP be run by liberal Republicans, who in some ways are worse than the Democrats as they knife us in the back all the time. Twenty years ago we had this same debate, back when it was still possible to promote real change. Now it's far higher stakes.
And yet we hired Trump as President despite the risks, and are now running him again. Wasn't that similar to primarying a RiNO Republican? Wouldn't we have been safer with a moderate both times?
Now that McDaniels is out and McConnell is forced to pull back (and he cost us probably a dozen Conservatives in the Seanate over the years) we have a real chance. Why not primary the RINO's, at least when they really deserve it (and voting for this bill shows they deserve it.)
America's at the point where we need a hail-Mary pass. We don't have time left to do this incrementalism (and we keep losing at even THAT.)

And in time they will fade away as the Overton window moves in our direction.
That is what the Republican consulting class never understands; you gain more converts by leading as opposed to moistening your finger and sticking it in the air. The consultantsthink you win by following but that has never been true. People join bandwagons if you can get one. Trump won a LOT of converts simply by being bold and standing with the American People and being a leader. It's wasn't his sparkling personality (which, you may remember, was what they said of Reagan yet both men have similar appeal and for the same reasons if you ask me.)
Leaders lead and if we want to restore America to just what she was a few years ago we are going to have to have people willing to stand on principle and not surrender to the forces of darkness. That is exactly what the Republicans who voted for the border bill did and they know it.
If we are to do anything but slow the slide we must get our house in order first.
