The Red, White, and Fu

This from Richard Cole

A Little Dose of Reality.

In the future China will employ millions of American workers and dominate thousands of small communities all over the United States . Chinese acquisition of U.S. businesses set a new all-time record in 2013.

The Smithfield Foods acquisition is an example. Smithfield Foods is the largest pork producer and processor in the world. It has facilities in 26 U.S. states and it employs tens of thousands of Americans. It directly owns 460 farms and has contracts with approximately 2,100 others.

But in 2013, during the Obama/ Biden Administration, a Chinese company bought it and its subsidiaries, for $ 4.7 billion, and that means that the Chinese will now be the most important employer in dozens of rural communities all over America.

Thanks in part to our massively bloated trade deficit with China, the Chinese have trillions of dollars to spend. They are only just starting to exercise their economic muscle.

It is important to keep in mind that there is often not much of a difference between "the Chinese government” and "Chinese corporations”. In 2011, 43 percent of all profits in China were produced by companies where the Chinese government had a controlling interest in.

In 2012, a Chinese company spent $2.6 billion to purchase AMC entertainment – one of the largest movie theater chains in the United States. Now that Chinese company controls more movie ticket sales than anyone else in the world.

But China is not just relying on acquisitions to expand its economic power.

"Economic beachheads” are being established all over America. For example, in 2013, Golden Dragon Precise Copper Tube Group, Inc. broke ground on a $100 million plant in Thomasville, Alabama. Many of the residents of Thomasville, Alabama will be glad to have jobs, but it will also become yet another community that will now be heavily dependent on communist China.

And guess where else Chinese companies are putting down roots? Detroit.

Chinese-owned companies are investing in American businesses and new vehicle technology, selling everything from seat belts to shock absorbers in retail stores, and hiring experienced engineers and designers in an effort to soak up the talent and expertise of domestic automakers and their suppliers. If you recently purchased an "American-made” vehicle, there is a really good chance that it has a number of Chinese parts in it. Industry analysts are hard-pressed to put a number on the Chinese suppliers operating in the United States.

China seems particularly interested in acquiring energy resources in the United States.

For example, China is actually mining for coal in the mountains of Tennessee.

Guizhou Gouchuang Energy Holdings Group spent 616 million dollars to acquire Triple H Coal Co. in Jacksboro, Tennessee. At the time, that acquisition really didn’t make much news, but now a group of conservatives in Tennessee is trying to stop the Chinese from blowing up their mountains and taking their coal.

And pretty soon China may want to build entire cities in the United States just like they have been doing in other countries. Right now, China is actually building a city larger than Manhattan just outside Minsk, the capital of Belarus.

Are you starting to get the picture?

China is on the rise. If you doubt this, just read the following:

* When you total up all imports and exports, China is now the number one trading nation on the entire planet.
* Overall, the U.S. has run a trade deficit with China over the past decade that comes to more than 2.3 trillion dollars.
* China has more foreign currency reserves than anyone else on the planet.
* China now has the largest new car market in the entire world.
* China now produces more than twice as many automobiles as the United States does.
* After being bailed out by U.S. taxpayers, GM is involved in 11 joint ventures with Chinese companies.
* China is the number one gold producer in the world.
* The uniforms for the U.S. Olympic team were made in China.
* 85% of all artificial Christmas trees the world over are made in China.
* The new World Trade Center tower in New York is going to include glass imported from China .
* China now consumes more energy than the United States does.
* China is now in aggregate the leading manufacturer of goods in the entire world.
* China uses more cement than the rest of the world combined.
* China is now the number one producer of wind and solar power on the entire globe.
* China produces 3 times as much coal and 11 times as much steel as the United States does.
* China produces more than 90 percent of the global supply of rare earth elements.
* China is now the number one supplier of components that are critical to the operation of any national defense system.
* In published scientific research articles China is expected to become the number one in the world very shortly.

Citing the nonpartisan economic think-tank Paulson Institute, a 2021 American Security Institute report underscores that "Chinese firms and investors own a controlling majority in nearly 2,400 U.S. companies." In addition to owning Smithfield and its subsidiaries, General Electric Appliance Division, IBM, General Motors, Spotify, Snapchat, Hilton Hotels, AMC Theaters, Tik Tok, and many others -- purchases that predominately occurred during the Obama/Biden Administration -- they also own The Chicago Stock Exchange, Legend Entertainment Group (movie studios... maker of such films as Jurassic Park), The Waldorf Astoria, Strategic Hotels and Resorts, Riot Games, Motorola, Ingram Micro (distributor of iPhones), Sheraton Universal and Marriott Downtown in Los Angeles, Terex Corporation (earth moving equipment that used to be owned by GM), Teledyne Continental Engines (aircraft powerplants), Morgan Stanley, VISA, Blackstone, Ford, Chesapeake Energy, and American social news aggregation site Reddit.

Much of the money borrowed by the U.S. Government comes from China and we pay it back with interest. According to the Congressional Budget Office, 60 percent of the spending Biden wants to do for his "infrastructure plan" will be done WITH BORROWED MONEY. In 2015, at the tail end of the Obama/ Biden Administration, China had an estimated $4 trillion of foreign reserves stashed away in various foreign investments. The United States was the largest recipient of Chinese money back then.

So the next time you wonder why China has such influence, even in the US, you will already have an idea why.

In recent years, the Chinese have regarded America as one big yard sale, snatching up distressed companies and anything else that gives the world’s second-largest economy a leg up on U.S. technology at bargain-basemen t prices. That giant shopping spree is financed by a currency that -- unlike the dollar -- is controlled by the government.

President Donald Trump was well aware of this. He labeled China a "currency manipulator,” slapped its products with huge tariffs and promised to bring back jobs from overseas.

However, by owning U.S. businesses, the Chinese control the products these companies produce and the people they employ. Dislodging China’s grip on American business will require a lot more than tough talk.

1 As far as pork and bacon, you can look for Hormel products. I don't THINK they've been bought out... yet.

2 Chinese ownership of an American company such as Smithfield actually means very little. It simply means a change of where the profits go, and who really cares about that? Who cares whether rich Americans get richer or rich Chinese get richer? They are not going to import masses of Chinamen to work in the plants. They are not going to quit producing bacon and start producing Kimchee.

3 Actually, Bill, many of us DO care about where the profits go, even though we can't do diddley about it. Why should the ChiComs profit from the pork and bacon I eat? It's not like I bought them in an Asian food market.

4 Why is it better for some rich Wall Street bastard to profit than for some rich Chinese bastard to profit?

Posted by: Bill H at September 08, 2021 11:41 PM (/sW5m)

5 The rich Wall Street bastards don't care any more about the American people than the rich Chinese bastards do.

6 BUT Bill the rich Americans live here, work here, pay taxes here, and in a crunch will be at the service of the country if, say, there is war between the U.S. and China. Not so with these Chinese. We are welding our economic survival to China and are then at their pleasure. It's a kind of feudal system whereby china is the greater lord. It is a very dangerous situation to be in.

Also Bill, even the corporations not directly owned by the government of China are owned by party bigwigs and are entirely at the service of the Chinese government. Why do you think this whole "woke" business has arisen? It is being promoted in movies, on television, in all the arts - and it is largely coming from the Chinese. They are waging a psychological war against the U.S. They can only do that because they own so many businesses.

7 Allow me to impart a bit of Biblical wisdom. Genesis 22:17 states: "That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies"

Get that last? Possess the gates of thy enemies. It is also sometimes translated cities of thy enemies. But what does it mean?

It means you will control the means of transport of goods and services. That can include in modern terms energy, manufacture, raw materials. It can include things like the Panama Canal (now controlled by China). If you control the gates of your enemies you control them.

Which is what we are doing selling the country to China. If they own our businesses and control our goods and services they control us. It is that simple.

We can talk about who gets rich off it all we want, but in the end I'd much rather have our rich bastards hold the wealth than Chinese rich bastards. Ours are at least beholden to our own country.

Again, we are seeing a new feudal order, and it came about because we were so greedy for Chinese beads and trinkets.

8 Okay, so Smithfield is owned by China, and let’s say it is owned by the Chinese government. Its plants and workers are in the United States.

A major telecom is owned by Wall Street, and its plants and workers are in China, because Chinese workers work for lower wages.

So there is a war with China. Cold or hot. What happens? We will be eating all of the pork, bacon and ham that we want, because the Chinese owned company that you are so upset about is still producing those things right here in this country. BUT, we will not be able to communicate, because the US owned company has no access to its factories and workers, which are in China.

Again my question. Who cares where the profit goes?

The Chinese may be taking the profits, but the jobs and the products are still here. American owned companies are keeping the profits in America, in the hands of the elite, but the jobs and the products are overseas, and to get the products here we have to send the money of our working class overseas.

Letting the Chinese profit may be repugnant in terms of feelings, but feelings bear no relationship to the real world. The real world issues are:
1. Chinese companies keep jobs and wages in America.
2. American companies send jobs and wages overseas.
3. Chinese owned, US made product generate revenue in America.
4. US owned, Chinese made products generate revenue in China.

9 Remember that it's higher taxes on business that drives businesses, and jobs, overseas. When those taxes are lowered, there's a tendency for businesses to come back home.

Posted by: Dana Mathewson at September 09, 2021 02:07 PM (GbRjY)

10 But Bill the Chinese can CLOSE those businesses, leading to layoffs and bankruptcies and the like.

And the whole argument about trade imbalance is that the Chinese are getting our jobs and the like while we are getting - cheap beads and trinkets. And we are letting them make more products we need - like electronics, or medicines - and we can't make them ourselves and if there is war we find ourselves cut off from antibiotics, from the computer chips we need, etc. It really is a very dangerous situation. If THEY are cut off, it only means less immediate revenue coming in, and likely the Europeans will take up the slack and sell the Chines products (or finished products) to us. They win, we lose.

There is a reason why Spain isn't still a world leader.
