Sundance at Conservative Treehouse makes an interesting argument that oil prices are not being driven by supply and demand but by speculators and governments and that the whole reason prices are high now is to try to influence the upcoming elections. Sundance thinks prices will drop in a spectacular way come January.
Maybe. I do know American oil companies have not tried to increase production for some baffling reason despite being in the most production-friendly period in their history as far as government is concerned. Now why do you suppose that is?
(Hint; it's because the companies fear the Democrats will get back in power and shut it all back down, and they do so because the Democrats have made it plain they intend to punish anyone who seems to work with Trump.)
Our "friends" the Saudis refused to increase production despite there being high demand right now. Why is that?
Everyone is gunning for Trump. Trump is the turd in the punchbowl of Globalism. Everyone was happy, making money, moving where they wanted the world to go. Trump came along and ruined all that. They all want him out.
So there has been a manipulation of futures and that has manipulated the price at the pump. The public doesn't understand how it works and blame Trump, the only guy who has ever tried to promote more drilling since, well, probably Reagan.

Hard not to agree with this. When the Saudis announced no oil shipments to Europe for a month oil prices went down. Somebodies playing with the oil market.
