Joe Biden is switching off the lights. Mr. Biden is pushing forward with a total ban on incandescent light bulbs, and forcing LED lights on the entire country to combat a fictitious "climate change".
First, where in the Constitution does it say the Federal Government may regulate how people light their homes? Strange; I can't find it anywhere. Yes, there is a clause about regulating interstate commerce, but that isn't supposed to mean simply killing off a legal product just because they think it a bad idea. The Commerce Clause - Article 1, Section 8, Clause 3 - is a power limited to CONGRESS, and does not invest authority with the President to do such things. It is primarily intended to guarantee the free flow of commerce between states - not to squash it.
Second, it is a solution in search of a problem. The incandescent light bulb has worked fine for the public for decades and there is no problem with it. This is being done solely because some busybodies think we can save energy and thus fight a nebulous and unproven "climate change". The point is the incandescent bulb is suffering because Biden wants to go to an all-electric economy and wants that elecricity for other purposes - like electric go-carts (which he calls cars.)
But it is not the government's province to promote such things. The market is still supposed to be the final determinant. The market has spoken; the public prefers incandescent bulbs to the too-blue LED's. So Mr. Biden and the other Progressive tyrants are going to just force this down our collective throats anyway.
I would add that LED lights cost more than incandescents, and it was possible to get new bulbs for cheap in the old days so you had light even if you were short of cash. Now it's a fair expense.
Mostly this is just a way of making us accept their will. How do you break a horse? You get it to accept the bit in it's mouth first. It will spit it out a time or two, but eventually give up and take it. They did that with those curly-que bulbs a few years back that everyone despised. So they took their time, and now are forcing this bit in our mouths. After the bit comes the blanket and saddle and eventually the poor beast is being ridden and compelled to go where the man desires and it has no choice.
That is what is happening here.
Frankly I'd like to plug some of these bulbs into Mr. Biden's socket.

One advantage of them is that if you drop one of them, they don't shatter. And since they don't generate much heat, you can take one out of its socket barehanded with no problem. That also that also is a good situation in, say, a desk lamp, where the lack of heat will not deteriorate the switch above the bulb.
I mentioned dimmers: some LEDs don't like dimmers, and will tend to blink if installed on a circuit with a dimmer unless the dimmer is set to full power.

There are merits - like the lack of heat. That helps a lot in hot weather.
But they also have lack of heat, which is terrible in cold weather, especially outside. I heard they were putting those things in traffic lights and street lights up north and the snow would just bury them and someome would have to clean them off; they couldn't melt their way out.
BTW I have a bunch of LED lights in my chandalier with a dimmer and one light keeps flickering. Just the one. I've moved the bulb to other spots and seen the same thing. Guess only some of them have that problem. I've been trying to figure out what was wrong - now I know.

I think we should probably just let this one go to bed, have another drink and stay friends.
