1 Back when "Airplane" was made, those jokes could be made and gotten away with, and the audience howled. I remember because I was in the audience. The jokes were funny then. One of the best sequences was the boy and girl acting very grown-up and and the sequence ended with the boy asking if he could get coffee for the girl, and if she wanted cream in it, and she said no, she liked her coffee like she liked her men: black.

2 Yes, I remember that  scene well Dana; it WAS funny because it was not something you would expect from little kids.

It was also hilarious when the woman who had played Mrs. Cleaver on Leave it to Beaver said she spoke Jive and translated the black guys comments. "Jive ass dudes don't got no brains anyhow!" she tells them.

And remember the scene where Stryker is in a "rough" bar on the docks - the girl scouts get into a fight, and he asks the guy next to him to pinch him to make sure he isn't dreaming when he sees elaine - and the look on the guy's face as he moves away is priceless.

That was a great movie. And it was funny because you could make politically incorrect jokes. Now all humor is political. It used to be sexual but we can't  even do that anymore. Now it's all about hating on Trump. Anything else is verboten.

3 One of the reasons "Airplane" was so effective was that the actors were told to deliver their lines straight even though it might be hard because they knew they were wildly funny lines.
