Having Fun Watching Wind and Solar Failing to Step Up to Power the World Economy:
The best measure for wind is the hourly median capacity factor. Half the hours are under 7%. Half above. But the curve of hourly output is a decay curve, highly skewed towards zero. 35% of the time wind doesn't produce anything at all.
Nothing like trying to power a 21st century economy with 17th century technology. Might as well be using sailing ships to deliver cargo worldwide.
Wind and solar are both passive systems. There is nothing proactive about them. Rather "feminine" if you like. I wonder if this isn't the reason at least some of its advocates like it; they fear and resent a more active system because it's too "masculine". Sounds kind of crazy but liberals really do think that way. They are all about symbolism and psychology and never about nuts and bolts.
