El Sayed Wants to Tobacco American Oil
Timothy Birdnow
How about he go suck on a tailpipe then.
I'm always hearing variations of this from the Gang Green, the global warming hysterics, who equate "Big Oil" with the cigarette companies.
The fact is the cigarette companies got a raw deal; they were selling a legal product and nobody ever tried to make them illegal, just tried to strangle them through the backdoor, through taxation and other means. The public used to smoke and enjoyed smoking.
What terrible things did Big Tobacco do? They increased the nicotine in cigarettes - something their customers WANTED. People used to hate European cigarettes because they had lower nicotine levels.
Did the tobacco companies hide the dangers of smoking? Maybe, but one can hardly expect them to advertise with "smoking causes cancer" after all. It was a legal product and control of smoking was up to the authorities. Tobacco companies owed a fiduciary duty to their shareholders; public health was not their responsibility. A kitchen knife can be misused too.
When I was a child, I mean six or so, my mother would give me five dollars "go up to Gasens and get me a pack of Camels" and I would walk up there and tell the clerk who would pull them down and hand them over to me. In those days we did not control every aspect of life. Now the clerk would go to jail for doing that. That is how far America has fallen from a free society. When a kid can't buy cigarettes...
America has become a nanny state, where the "best and brightest" tell everyone else how to live. There used to be a term for that "Noblesse Oblige" also sometimes called the White Man's Burden (in he colonial era) It was the presumption of superiority by the aristocracy over the "benighted" lower classes. Very Medieval. It was soundly rejected by the Enlightenment thinkers and especially the Founding Fathers who believed in the wisdom of masses. But it never died and it reigns supreme in the Western World these days, the concept that the elites are, by their very nature, smarter and wiser than we and should rule. If they decree something bad then the masses must be made to do without.
At any rate the Gang Green has tried to use the tobacco model on oil and is using the same lawfare tactics that took out tobacco. (BTW my brother lives in Kentucky which has a lot of wineries now, almost all of them planted on former tobacco farms.) They are picking the target, freezing it, personalizing it, and polarizing it. This is just one example.
But there had always been a dislike for tobacco in America and it tapped into a deep-seated disapproval of the product. The old puritanical Protestants thought it frivolous and decadent. Oil is a whole different thing; it's the very heart of our technology and the only way we can get around by and large. Nobody has wood-fired steam engines anymore, after all.
Also, the public is losing faith in global warming as the spectacular predictions made by the warmiacs have no panned out.
So El Sayed can go huff on a tailpipe and do America a favor. He is telegraphing what he will do if elected; he'll go after the lifeblood of the American economy because, like, climate and stuff.

Affordability
Timothy Birdnow
The poverty rate was
cut in half since Trump took office.
If "affordability" is the key to the current election seems Mr. Trump should do pretty well. Half of poor Americans are no longer poor. That's what I call affordability.

Thune Takes a Licking
Timothy Birdnow
Delivered what exactly? Vacation time mostly.
Oh, wait; they DID pass a college sports bill. We all know how that was high on the priority list of every Amerrican.
Thune led what was the epitome of a do-nothing Senate. He kept senind his people on vacation without passing key legislation, most notably the SAVE America Act. He said he didn't have the votes. Fine; no votes no vacation. That is how you whip. It's Thune's job to GET the votes. But he did nothing to push any of his caucus.
From the Gateway Pundit:
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) tried to take a victory lap Tuesday night. The grassroots took the lap away from him.
Thune posted a slick message claiming Republicans have spent the last two years delivering "more money in your pocket,” "safer streets,” and "more opportunities to get ahead,” while Democrats opposed the agenda "at every turn.”
The numbers tell the story. As of Wednesday morning the tweet had about 1,400 likes and more than 10,500 replies. That is not engagement. That is a public flogging.
Then came the Community Note.
X users attached a note that read:
The 119th Congress was the least productive in history — No Congress has enacted less legislation or laws. Johnson has cancelled a total 63 scheduled voting days in the House, granting members an extra 2 months PTO, with no House votes scheduled until after the election.
It zeroed in on Johnson because the House at least has tried to deal with the issues, passing the SAVE America Act and other legislation. By virtue of having more members the House is more difficult to move than the Senate, which is a more manageable caucus.
Thune has done virtually nothing as Majority Leader. That shouldn't surprise us; he was McConnell' protege' and McConnell hated Trump and obstructed Trump's agenda when he was Majority Leader. Thune has done likewise.
IF the GOP loses either or both houses of Congress it will be precisely this reason; Nero fiddling while Rome is burning. America elected Trump because we know the country is in trouble, that it was going the wrong way, and we wanted laws passed to restore her. What we get from Thune and company is just more of the same stuff; they are unwilling to do the work of America. Maybe we should replace THEM with illegal aliens, to do the work Congress Just Won't Do?
And everything Thune crowed about here had nothing to do with the Senate; it was all Trump acting alone.
John Thune is just an Establishment Republican who wants to return to the status quo where the two parties sail in the same direction and enjoy the good life without having to work hard while America declines. We voted against that in '24.
The GOP does not deserve power. Sadly the only replacement for them is worse.

Fox Hunt
Timothy Birdnow
This from Sebastian Gorka on X:
Keep you eye on those special moments when people and organizations reveal themselves for who they truly are.
In the last 48 hours both
@JacquiHeinrich and
@FoxNews have exposed themselves as fully paid up members of the Establishment.
Instead of standing on principle against the propagandists who have lied to the American people about everything from RussiaGate, COVID, illegal immigration, election integrity and Biden’s cognitive impairment, they decided to circle the wagons against the most accountable and transparent President in our Republic’s 250 years,
@realDonaldTrump.
Do not forget what you have witnessed.
End
This is over Fox joining with the Corporate Media to protest Trump kicking CNN and others out of the White House briefings.
I get it; the Corporate Media helped Fox get back into them during the Obama era but I've argued Fox is moving leftward and this is evidence of it. They hate Trump too, just not as much as does the other guys. Fox is full of Bush people, the Establishment Republicans like Karl Rove. And Rupert Murdoch himself, while being conservative, has always been Establishment conservative. Oh, and his children are mostly liberals who have vowed to turn Fox "mainstream" meaning into another liberal outlet.
Gorka is right to chastise them.

Pennsylvania Goes All Medical Gestapo
Timothy BIrdnow
Pennsylvania Republics
are warning about a new Department of Health scheme that would allow health officials to enter people's homes without a warrant.
From the article:
You can review the proposed regulations for yourself, but here are some of the most concerning parts:
Expanding the authority of the Department of Health and local health agencies to enter any home, school, apartment, healthcare facility or other building without a warrant. (See p. 66, p. 208-209.)
Giving the Department of Health the power to speak to a student in private without the consent or knowledge of a parent, and making it illegal for anyone to "interfere.” (See p. 66-67, p. 211.)
Giving the Department of Health greater authority to access a private citizen’s health records. (See p. 67, p. 192.)
Requiring healthcare providers to input every vaccination into a mandatory statewide government database. (See p. 60-61, p. 199-200.)
Allowing the Department of Health to unilaterally issue statewide mask mandates and other disease mitigation measures. (See p. 65, p. 206-207.)
This is what they wanted to do during Covid, and hoped to make it a permanent thing. It's backdooring governmental power to circumvent the Constitution.
This should disqualify Josh Shapiro from any higher Federal office.
Notice the provision about talking to minor children behind the parent's back;; that is so they can trans the kids without the parents knowing or consent.
This is medical tyranny and the People of Pennsylvania need to rise up against this. If anything should cause a blue wave in the Commonwealth it should be this.
Josh Shapiro shows himself to be the same authoritarian leftist as the rest of the Democratic Party. He needs to go. The only sane Democrat is the guy who had a brain tumor removed (John Fetterman, also from Pennsylvania). I think the rest of them need brain surgery as well.
So Shapiro, who is Jewish, is happy with Brownshirts storming people's homes or transing their children. What are they going to do if anyone resists? Put them in camps? Pennsylvania has a castle doctrine, so how is the homeowner going to know it really is a health official and not a robber? Or maybe they'll just shoot the poor citizen. Yavol!
We ought to win big in Pa. if the public is made aware of this. Naturally the media will try to keep this quiet. We need to shout it from the rooftops.

Pritzker Living Off the Fat of the Land
Timothy Birdnow
If Pritzker is on it the state will surely go bankrupt.
The Rotund J.B., Governor of the great Sleaze State of Illinois, said he has lost eighty pounds on the weight loss drug GLP-1 after being diagnosed with Type II Diabetes.
That's rather like pulling water out of the ocean one bucket at a time but good for him for trying.
He says he was overweight since he was seven or eight and I sympathize, having been overweight since I was three or four. I lost most of it in my teens bt it crept back over the years. Like Pritzker I have Type II Diabetes, among other halth issues relate to weight.
So if I make sport of him I have the right to do so. As he would of me.
Problem is, the bovine socialist plutocrat got his drugs via taxpayer dollars.
I don't use this drug or any of the others for weight loss precisely because my Obamacare plan does not cover it. I can't afford to buy it on my own either, unlike the billionaire Pritzker.
He also walks four miles a day, something his money and his job as Governor allows him to do.
I will admit the photo of him looks good; he almost has a neck in that picture.
Donald Trump accepts one dollar for payment to be President of the United States, donating the rest of his pay to charity. Pritzker should do likewise. But he'll attack Mr. Trump while getting skinny at taxpayer expense. Typical socialist.
I'm glad he's losing weight, but he should do it on his own dime. He has a LOT of them, after all.

/Where are All the Hurricanes: Global Warming Hot Air
Timthy Birdnow
Three months of hurricane season is now under our belts and there has yet to be a single hurricane in the Atlantic.
They told us global warming would cause more and stronger hurricanes and tornadoes and storms in general. Funny that the hurricanes have disappeared. We've looked all over - under the bed, in the couch cushions, etc.
Seems to me this completely upends the alarmist climate models.

Driven Mad by feminism
Timothy Birdnow
Yep - women (especially white women) be crazy.
According to this article a whopping 20% of women are on anti-depressants.
We know white women are a huge part of our political problem in this country and in fact in the world. They vote crazily, and in fact think crazily. Maybe it's the SSRI's making them so nuts?
Depression is anger turned inward. So what are white women so angry about?
They got what they wanted. They wanted to be free of sexual stereotypes and they got that. They now have big jobs, often as CEO's or Senators or whatnot. They wanted that and got it. They wanted "control over their own bodies" by being able to have sex without consequence and to abort babies conceived when the contraceptives failed and they got that. They wanted to "have it all" - a career and a family - and they got it. They wanted to be educated and they now make up a vast majority of the universities. They wanted to be treated like men and they got it. They wanted to be able to walk around dressed any way they wanted, including half naked, and they got it.
So why are they so unhappy? They got almost everything they wanted. The feminists promised them paradise and paradise is what they now have.
Could it be they feel spiritually empty? That what they wanted did not satisfy them? That the plastic paradise turned out to have a snake in the garden?
Men, who have far less to be happy about these days, aren't abusing these kinds of narcotics they way women are. White males life expectancy is the only one declining in America. White males are not getting into colleges. White males are finding it increasingly difficult to find a decent woman who is not a total rag. White guys get beat up for wearing MAGA hats. White males are insulted on a daily basis, called toxic and treated like lepers. But they use far less antidepressants than do women.
Feminism was a trap, a lie that seduced millions of women. They act tough and pretend but in the end God made them women and that means they WANT what their parents or grandparents had - a world where men and women are different and it is no shame to be a feminine woman, a stay at home mom, a good, loving wife to a faithful husband. They rejected all that and the cost is terrible. And even now they won't admit what the problem is because they bought into this as an article of faith, as a religion, and to admit it was a mistake would be to destroy their entire worldview. So they double down on the cause of their misery. And blame men for their own mutilated emotions.
That is why White women be crazy; they drove themselves mad through feminism.

I am finding out that Chinese women suffer from a lot of the same symptoms of Western women except they admit it comes from an empty womb.

Tim, you really should make the distinction that it's white
liberal women that are the main problem. Conservative women are much better adjusted and tend to have far less instances of illnesses such as TDS.

I did not know that Mike. Can't say I actually know any Oriental women. But they are now affluent too and the same forces that shaped white women shaped the Orientals I suspect.
Point taken Dana. I thought it was implied I was talking about liberal white women, but if it was unclear my apologies to conservative white women. (My wife was one such example, and her head was on quite straight, I assure you.)

Mike, I have little experience with Oriental women, except that I am close friends with a Hmong babe from a church my wife and I used to attend. She's pretty cool -- she owns a court translation business which takes her over most of the East Coast. I don't think she has "empty womb" problems because she has grown-up children. She has a wicked sense of humor, which I won't go into here.

Pope Gaia
Timothy Birdnow
The Vatican has gone full pagan earth worship.
The Bible says there will arise a religious leader who will give power to the Beast. The Catholic Church long has believed he would be an antipope. This is probably how the False Prophet will do it - embracing this Climate Change nonsense.
It's pure paganism, a worship of the Earth.
Christianity is not about things of this world. It is about the salvation of souls. Climate change and other such things are the purview of politics and science and NOT religion. Catholicism is supposed to be above the things of this world, which Jesus said was passing away. The soul is the one thing that does not pass away - it winds up somewhere. It is the job of the Church to try to make sure those souls wind up with God and not in the eternal darkness.
Changing the Church's mission to a secular fight to "save the planet" is exactly how the False Prophet will rise.
I wonder if Pope Leo is going to give his authority to the Beast? Or will it be his successor? Anyway you slice it the table is being set.

The Killer of Souls
Timothy Birdnow
Revelation 13:15
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed."
Sounds very much like an AI system to me!
Imagine if you will a politician taking power and controlling an AI system that shows the AI as HIM and speaks like him, promoting his policies and ideas. It would be the most powerful electoral tool in history; the politician could actually speak personally to each and every voter! It wouldn't be him, of course, but it would be something most people would think WAS him and would vote accordingly. This would not be filtered in a way where people could think about what they were told. It would be like being personally visited by the politician in question. No flyers, no advertisements, no mass mailings or mass e-mails. It would be completely personal and using your online histry it would be tailored for you.
I believe this is what the Bible was speaking about in the above passage. An image of the beast will be made to move and speak, just like an AI image.
AI is not going to go all Skynet and wipe us out. Rather, it will trick us, persuade us, seduce us. In some ways that is far worse.
And it will be a powerful psychological attack, one we will find hard to resist.
AI is perhaps the most dangerous thing we've seen arise since the atomic bomb, and maybe even worse (probably worse). It won't kill bodies but souls.

They are Coming After Home Schooling
Timothy Birdnow
They are going after home schooling now.
In the old days you didn't even need a high school diploma to be a fireman. It was a good job for those with little formal education. Why not? It's primarily a physical job anyway.
But now everybody has to have formal education, and if someone is outside of the power of the educational establishment you get things like this. This is purely to protect the power of the Teacher's unions.
And it likely is illegal. I hope they get sued into insolvency.

Do or Do Not Mr. Trump!
Timothy Birdnow
Trump talks too much if you ask me.
His threats are losing impact because he makes them but doesn't follow through. If he's going to bomb them back to the paleolithic he needs to do it or stop talking about it. Iran no longer fears him; they think they've weathered the worst.
He needs to have a new strategy. It's clear he's not driving the Mullahs out of power by squeezing them economically.
These people are not in it for money, nor for even power. Theirs is a religious ideology and the only way to crush them is to make it clear to them that their religious faith will be destroyed if they persist. They are pragmatic enough to realize they may need to do what is necessary for their 12erism to survive to fight another day. Until they feel that they will hang on and the Iranian People have no choice as they saw what happens when you rise up against the theocrats; 40,000 of them dead! Nobody is going to dare rebel after that.
And of course they have nothing to fight with either.
At any rate I am with Yoda from The Empire Strikes Back "do, or do not". Trump has to start making it clear he can really, really hurt them. They think they can outlast him. They may be right too if the American People don't wake up.

Petromasculinaphobia
Timothy Birdnow
George Moonbat Monbiat coins a new term "petro-masculinity" to prove he's not just a beta male but probably a gamma.
I like it; it evokes images of raw masculinity, something sorely lacking in the world these days. I picture a big Texan with a tall cowboy hat speeding down the highway, his family heritage replaced by a giant oil derrick and when his gal does him a favor as he drives here comes the oil gusher as he shouts Yeeehaww!...
The Left has created all sorts of insults to masculinity, calling it "toxic masculinity" and sneering at boys being boys. Well, they are nothing but limp-wristed (and limp other things) weenies who fear masculinity because they can't compete with it. It's why so many on the Left now support the trans movement, the sissification of the Western World. They are afraid of masculinity and oil both. Maybe we should coin a new term "petromasculinaphobia".
Monbiot fails to grasp WHY people often drive faster than the posted speed limits; it's because the posted speed limits are usually ridiculously low and are a clear symbol of just what is wrong with our society - petty bureaucratic control of every aspect of life. Many of the scofflaws who disobey traffic regulations do so as a kind of personal rebellion against a stifling society of nanny bureaucrats. They don't see these rules as reasonable restrictions for everyone's benefit but rather as sniveling little cowards imposing restrictions solely because they can.
People can't fight the government and they know it. But they CAN take their revenge in a small way by disobeying traffic laws.
It's actually a social good in some ways; it allows the individual to blow off steam, to feel as if they have some control over their lives.
I would point out that a lot of this stuff started during Covid. Partly because cops stopped enforcing traffic laws lest they be exposed to the virus (and I thought about that; if I got pulled over I was going to start coughing just to screw with the officer) but partly because Covid saw government over-reach, take over our lives, restrict and restrain us. A lot of people started driving crazily because they felt they had no control over their lives. This was their way of coping.
So naturally a Monbiot would hate this; they are about making the public compliant, obedient, safe to the Ruling Class. It was guys like this who pushed the Covid regulations in the first place, and who has long pushed the Green Agenda, including getting rid of gasoline automobiles. He wants everyone on trains and buses so they can be controlled.
I do think people are driving too fast and being too reckless and we need to find ways to discourage that. It IS dangerous. But to blame it on masculinity? They caused this by denying men their masculinity rather than channeling it in a decent direction. Times past society knew how to do that; they sent boys into the woods with the Boy Scouts, they encourage mountain climbing or sky-diving or scuba diving to let the young men get their masculinity challenged in a safe, secure way. There was always the military, too. But the Left couldn't be satisfied with giving masculinity an outlet, no, they had to try to murder masculinity. But it's a basic human impulse and it won't go away just because you disapprove of it.
Older societies had their masculinity rituals, be it hunting, vision quests, counting coup, or other such. It was always understood that young men needed an outlet for their testosterone.
And that was always a good thing; it prevented fights and bitterness and abuse of women. Guys who hunted or counted coup didn't rape women or beat up old ladies, at least not ones in their own tribe.
Civilization made a huge leap forward in treating people decently, I would say (since no doubt someone will mention how cruel tribal conflict had been) but it also repressed the natural urges of a man. Times past we channeled those - now we just condemn and repress them. It's why kids join street gangs now, and get into these huge brawls in public and whatnot. They've been given no creative outlet for their aggression. And of course they know a judge will probably let them off easy.
Moonbat has this to say:
"The West Midlands is one of the few places in the UK where the police are actively trying to stop antisocial driving. An injunction bans street racing and dangerous tricks such as "drifting” (long sideways skids) and "doughnutting” (making the car spin on the spot). The local police commissioner has warned that reckless drivers "will face the full force of the law … including seizure of your vehicle and imprisonment”. But are the courts listening?
Of the three men convicted at Birmingham magistrates court, one received a suspended sentence, a £272 fine, 150 hours of community work and a two-year driving ban. Another was handed a £1,275 fine and seven penalty points: in other words, he could step out of the court and back into his car. The man who did over 90mph in a 30mph zone got a £253 fine and a 56-day driving ban. He’ll be back on the roads in November. All appear to have kept their cars.
If these men had caused the same level of endangerment by any other means, it’s hard to believe they would have got off so lightly. But in dozens of ways, driving gets special treatment."
Well, when I was a kid those things were rites of passage and many, if not most, of the teenagers I knew did some of that at one time or another. It was a reasonably harmless way of blowing off steam. Doing donuts in a parking lot is something most kids would do. And most cops would at worst stop the kid and give him a lecture. It was rare for you to get a ticket for donuts.
Street racing is another matter but we all did it anyway.
Here's where Moonbat really shows his inner Stalin:
"What we see here are manifestations of petro-masculinity: a violent, misogynistic, climate-denying version of manhood, expressed through an antisocial driving culture. Some of the modified trucks have decals saying "Stop the Boats” or "Save Our Children” (who are apparently being brainwashed by LGBTQ+ cultural Marxists). This is the Magafication of transport – a vehicle that carries some of the worst aspects of US culture and politics into the UK.
It’s the extreme end of a much wider trend. In the UK last year, 52% of the new cars on sale were SUVs. Not only do the ever-rising bonnets of these trucks make it harder for drivers to see pedestrians and cyclists, especially children, but higher and heavier cars are also more likely to cause deaths or serious injuries when they hit people: children under nine are three times more likely to be killed if they’re hit by an SUV than by a regular car."
So masculinity and SUV's are now completely toxic and cause street racing and donuts? What is Monbiot's solution? Give hormone blockers to teenage boys?
The fact is, if there is a problem that has grown in recent years it's because everything that is not forbidden is compulsory. Monbiot and his fellows created this problem by their promotion of endless societal controls over the individual.
Well, I for one take pride in the term Petro-masculinity and am a proud Petromasculnist! If I lived in Britain near Mr. Monbiot I would happily do donuts on is carefully manicured lawn (assuming he has one; he probably thinks it's a form of enslavement for grass).
He continues:
"And what are they for? On narrow country lanes round here, tourists in these "off-road” vehicles won’t back up if it means touching a hedge, in case the high-gloss finish on their Wankpanzer Childkiller SUV gets scratched. In one of the poshest parts of London, the Chelsea Truck Company advertises "iconic urban 4x4s”. "Iconic” appears to mean huge. But what the hell is an "urban 4x4”? And why is it legal?"
Maybe the drivers don't want to touch a hedge because they don't want to damage SOMEONE ELSE'S PROPERTY?
"Why is it legal" is the argument made by a true tyrant; it assumes everything you don't like should be illegal, suppressed by government. If Britain is so liberal in the old meaning of the term he would instead argue "why shouldn't it be legal" since the default position should be the citizen has a right to drive what he pleases unless there is a truly compelling reason for him not to be allowed.
Moonbat finishes with a flourish:
"Isn’t it obvious that selfishness on the road changes us as a society? The belief that a driver should be allowed to do whatever they please, regardless of the impact on others, mounts the pavement and travels deep into our lives. If this is to be a decent, inclusive country that values human life, then the law and its enforcement should match that aspiration. But when the roads are used to amplify and celebrate a dangerous, antisocial culture, we are driven towards a very dark place."
What came first, the chicken (aka Monbiot) or the egg? Is the "selfish driving" a response to an octopodal society which stifles all human initiative or is that caused by "selfish drivers"? I would argue the former to a large degree. Monbiot talks about an "inclusive" society but he fails to quote statistics about who is driving too fast or dangerously. I rather suspect many of them are the very people he wants to include - aliens who come from Africa or the Middle East or India. I know around my home in St. Louis the immigrants all drive like bats out of hell. And they get away with it because the cops don't want to be seen as picking on them. How much worse is it in the extremely woke Britain where they won't even arrest an immigrant for raping a child or will arrest a victim of a stabbing because the stabber claimed the man insulted him racially?
When Leftist/socialists were not in power they advocated for weak laws, lawlessness, and demanded it as a civil right. Who promoted "defund the police"? It wasn't the Right Wing. Who pushed civil disobedience to laws? The Left has long advocated disobeying laws if it suited them. But now we have the Left in control and they want strict adherence to some very arbitrary laws like speed limits.
Again, I say we need such laws and we should enforce them to a degree (not for driving a mile over the limit but maybe fifteen). But there needs to be some sensibility involved, and we need to understand that breaking such laws is a social coping mechanism, a necessary one in these times where young men have no outlet for their natural impulses.
So these lefty types should really seek counseling for their Petromasculinaphobia. Or simply grow a pair. Maybe cut out the soy from their diets so their testosterone levels will rise to a normal degree.

Hope Springs Eternal
Timothy Birdnow
All is not lost in the election despite what the polls are trying to claim.
The numbers say there may be hope yet in stemming the tide of a Democratic takeover of Congress.
The New York Post reported Sunday that when looking at polling numbers, Democrats were preferred over Republicans for respondents when asked who they wanted to control Congress, at 50 percent to 45 percent. That poll, conducted by NBC News, can be found here.
To put that in perspective, though, the outlet reported that in 2018, when a supposed "blue wave” was anticipated, Democrats held a 12-point lead. In that election, they took the House of Representatives, but not the Senate. Republicans took seats in Florida, Missouri, South Dakota, and Indiana, while Democrats took seats in Nevada and Arizona.
In addition to NBC, aggregate polling from RealClearPolitics puts Democrats ahead for 2026 by 8.1 points.
I don't know why anyone puts any stock in polling anymore; they have been spectacularly wrong over the years. Remember that chick in Iowa who said Harris was going to win in a landslide?
What is happening now is the people being polled are meely showing their unhappiness with high gas and food prices. It is unfortunate that Trump had to attack Iran at this point - and that he was unable to subdue them before the election. Right now they are holding on, desperately hoping for a Democrat win so we will stop the blockade and the bombings. If the GOP holds Congress all will be lost for them and they will probably make a deal. But the public doesn't understand that and doesn't much care; they want cheap groceries and gas.
But that's not to say they will VOTE Democrat; it simply says the people talking to pollsters are unhappy about this. They might say they support the Democrats now but that is a far cry for actually voting for them when push comes to shove.
And then there is the Wilder Effect; people often tell pollsters what they think they want to hear.
IF the American People are so short sighted and stupid as to allow the Democrats back in power now they deserve what they will get - and it will be terrible.. My hope is America isn't that gullible. But nobody ever lost money betting on the stupidity of the American People.

Clancey Defense Attorney Wants Probe of Holdout Juror
Timothy Birdnow
What a dirt bag! This guy needs to have his law license revoked; he already violated the law by leaking information on the juror, now he wants to investigate the guy to make any future jurors in a retrial afraid.
This is purely about bullying any future jurors into being afraid to rule against his client.
This guy is Saul Goodman, only not as funny.

SCOM Bags Overruled by Appeals Court in Missouri Redistricting Plan
Timothy Birdnow
Emmanuel gets the Cleaver!
Emmanuel Cleaver, he black Democrat - one of just a couple of Democrats holding Congressional seats in Missouri, is going to lose his s4at as a result of redistricting. This ruling by a state supreme court ruling has gone our way for once, and it sets up another showdown at SCOTUS, which is always up for grabs.
The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals overruled a lower Missouri court and the Missouri Supreme Court, greenlighting the state's new electoral map. It is likely this will be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court soon.
SCOTUS had heard this case twice before and overruled the GOP. But they always overruled the state of Missouri on grounds that allowed them to try it again.
The Politico article (hardly friendly to the state's position) had this to say:
The Supreme Court’s first rejection of the GOP plan came Sept. 8, when Justice Brett Kavanaugh turned down an emergency appeal by state officials seeking to overturn the Missouri Supreme Court’s decision to stick with the map adopted in 2022 and used to elect the existing Congressional delegation.
However, within minutes of Kavanaugh’s order, U.S. District Judge Stephen Clark, a Trump appointee, granted a restraining order two GOP candidates sought against returning to the 2022 lines for the general election.
A challenge to Clark’s order eventually reached the Supreme Court, which put it on hold two days later. While no justice noted any dissent from the ruling, the justices also offered no explanation for it, which the 8th Circuit appears to have interpreted as leaving them free rein on the issue.
Notice how they keep saying "a Trump appointee, a Bush appointee" when if it were a Democrat ruling in favor of the Donks it would simply be "judge so-and-so".
That is how you show bias while pretending to be neutral.
At any rate the Supreme Court never ruled this map couldn't go forward, just that it didn't meet the criteria set down by the law.
I would add the Missouri Constitution is quite plain on the matter; redistricting cannot be done based on a popular vote, which is what the Democrats have been pushing. Ballot initiatives are not legal.
A number of state courts ordered an initiative to be put on the ballot anyway, including the state supreme court, but that is in gross violation of the Constitution of the state. Appelate judges have ruled thus, and it will not be on the ballot in November.
(i) No redistricting plan shall be subject to the referendum.
I don't think it gets any plainer than that. This plan to put the new districting scheme to a public vote is clearly illegal.
Now, they might challenge the scheme on other grounds, notably the disenfranchisement of minorities in Cleaver's former district, and they might have a case. But to demand it be put on the ballot is clearly illegal and shame on the Missouri Supreme Court for ruling otherwise.
To the victor go the spoils. The Democrats as a party based their strategy on controlling big cities and trying to control the central government. They didn't care about the states so much as they saw them as increasingly impotent entities, mere provinces. But that attitude has come home to bite them; they lost control of districting. For a long time the GOP dared not challenge them on this, even though they had the power in most states to redistrict the Democrats out of power. But we had rules that forbade that, wih courts ruling that redistricting was unfair to minorities. Only now that the Supreme Court has ruled that race-based redistricting is not legal has the GOP found it's spine.
We were a Grizzly in a circus performance before, now we are wild.
At any rate the Democrats have discovered that control of the states is actually important since that means control of redistricting. Their scheme, to use the courts to neuter the GOP, has failed.
Missouri is an interesting case. Democrats focused on control of the big cities, but they also run big cities into the ground as they are corrupt. Missouri only has two big cities, and neither of them are that big anymore. St. Louis and Kansas City just don't have much clout in state politics. The outstate regions are are Republican (farm voters, a big squishy perhaps but still not crazy enough to vote Democrat) and it is the outstate area that controls the state. It's actually what Thomas Jefferson envisioned for America; a nation of yeoman farmers. He did not trust the cities. Missouri is much like Jefferson's vision.
It's what Illinois should be like too but Chicago is a behemoth that dominates state politics and so Southern Illinois, much like Missouri in many ways, is outvoted in Springfield and has no voice. (They should secede and join Missouri or Indiana but that would require state approval and it won't happen with the Chicago Way in control.) If Chicago were gone from Illinois the state would probably be a Republican stronghold like Missouri. Maybe they can find a way to kick Chicago out of Illinois? I favor giving it to Canada, personally.
At any rate it's getting too close to the election for another appeal to go to SCOTUS. We'll see if Brett Kavanaugh will reject this appeal as he did the appeal of the state to the SCOM ruling (Supreme Court of Missouri) just a little while ago on the grounds it was too close to the election.

Not So Hot
This from Anthony Watts courtesy of Western Journalism:
Here in The 'Lou the hottest part of this summer just passed; we ha a few days above a hundred. But just a few and that is not at all unusual for September here in semi-tropical Missouri. (The Ozarks should be great skiing country but for the fact it's too wrm for good snow and always has been.) It really wasn't that warm here or anywhere else in the continental U.S. , nor most other places around the globe except for in Europe, which suffered under triple digit hear. Suffered mainly because they got rid of their air conditioners to meet "net zero" stanndards.
I turned the air conditioner off last night.
Watts gives us the skinny:
Meteorologist Chris Martz examined NOAA’s data and found that the reported record was driven largely by unusually warm overnight minimum temperatures rather than record daytime highs.
By average daytime maximum temperature, 2026 does not rank first. The legendary Dust Bowl summer of 1936 remains the hottest.
Martz also points out something largely absent from the news coverage. Although the national average narrowly set a record, only seven of NOAA’s 344 climate divisions recorded their warmest summer on record in 2026.
Those were concentrated almost entirely in the Desert Southwest. During the infamous summer of 1936, more than seven times as many climate divisions experienced record summer heat.
Now, overnight temperatures being warmer IS evidence of carbon dioxide driven climate change; it's exactly what the models predict, much as I hate to admit that. But it's not NECESSARILY caused by that; stuff happens.
And that business about the temperature stations used by NOAA is so, well, NOAAN; they have pulled this sort of thing repeatedly, using just a few stations to make broad pronouncements.
I am sure if you look hard enough you will always find some temperature station giving anomalous readings that give you a record. Flip a coin a hundred times and you will have a streak where it lands on heads five straight times. You can then crow about how you have found a basic principle; quarters land on heads in groups of threes. But it is a bullpoo correlation.
Watts continues
There is another issue that deserves far more attention.
NOAA’s long-term climate record is not based solely on raw thermometer observations. It relies on a homogenized dataset in which temperatures are adjusted to account for changes in station location, observation time, instrumentation, and other factors.
Those adjustments are a legitimate part of climate analysis, but they are also legitimate subjects of scientific debate.
Martz notes that some of NOAA’s adjustments are larger than the 0.4°F margin by which 2026 supposedly surpassed 1936. He also raises concerns that NOAA’s pairwise homogenization algorithm may not fully remove gradual urban heat island influences and could inadvertently spread urban warming into nearby rural stations.
So the whole thing could be bullsquirt; NOAA tampering with the data yet again.
Let us continue:
The United States Climate Reference Network is widely regarded as the nation’s gold standard for surface temperature measurement. Unlike many older weather stations, USCRN sites were specifically built in carefully selected rural locations to avoid contamination from expanding cities, parking lots, buildings, and other artificial heat sources.
The USCRN temperature data record tells a noticeably different story. It shows one exceptionally warm month during March 2026, but the summer months themselves do not stand out as extraordinary compared with the network’s roughly 20-year history.
If the United States truly experienced an unprecedented summer across its highest-quality climate observing network, one might reasonably expect that signal to appear there as well.
But it doesn’t. That discrepancy deserves investigation rather than silence from the media.
Sooo....NOAA, which has been repeatedly caught tampering with the data, says "warmest ever" by a margin slimmer than their adjustments while the United States Climate Reference Network does not show this. Yet the news media trumpets NOAA data and speaks with authority when in fact this is statistically tied with a few of the warmest years AT BEST. The ignore the USCRN data sets entirely.
We live in an Alice in Wonderland world where the Queen offers us a cracker to quench our thirst. It's an endless string of soft lies to convince us we are facing doomsday and hand over our sovereignty to the elites who know what is best for us.

Spartacus Calls for Term Limits, Ethics Guidelines for SCOTUS in Violation of the Constitution
Timothy Birdnow
Corey "Spartacus" Booker wants term limits and ethics standards for the Supreme Court.
It's interesting as Democrats never wanted that when they were in power. In fact, any criticism of the Court was met with anger at "sullying" the dignity of the Court. Now they want to fundamentally change it because it's not working so well for them.
Speaking on Meet the Depressed, Gorey Fooke, er, Corey Booke had this to say:
, "I’ve now come out with some really great colleagues of mine, and we’ve put forward a vision for the Supreme Court that’s overwhelmingly supported by over 70% of Americans. And it’s this. You create term limits for the Supreme Court, 18 year terms. Every president we elect, we now know gets two appointments to it. And that is vital. It will create a balanced court. And it’s something we can do without a constitutional amendment or a simple court packing plan. I want pragmatic solutions. But let me add the most important thing. Not only is it term limits for board members, right now we have a situation with the highest court in the land has the lowest ethics laws. We have a compromised court because they take unlimited gifts from billionaires who have interest in matters before them. We need to put the highest ethic laws there and term limits.”
One little problem for Corey; the Supreme Court is a coequal branch of government and Congress has no authority over it's ethics nor it's length of service. Both would require a Constitutional Amendment. Any law passed by Congress can be struck down by the Court.
I would ask why Mr. Booker does not support all of this for lesser courts? Congress actually has the authority to implement this in the lower court system since those are not Constitutionally created but created by acts of Congress. But strangely the Democrats don't want to impose ethics rules or term limits on their pet judges. If Booker were serious and thought this a matter of actual national interest he would promote these things on lower courts. That he doesn't even suggest that but rather wants to go after SCOTUS speaks volumes about the political nature of this.
Maybe the Supreme Court can issue ethics guidelines and term limits on Congress? They have as much right.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry to intrude here, but Comments won't work; they return a "Malformed Request String." So I just wanted to say "Where does Spartacus get the idea that over 70% of Americans agree with him?" I seriously doubt that even 7% of Americans agree with him -- on ANYTHING!" (Yours truly, Dana Mathewson)
