There is a triangle trade in America with people moving from media to politics to academia and around and around she goes! It is grossly unhealthy; journalism is supposed to be the watchdog of politics, and academia is not supposed to be political or a part of the voyeur class. But there you have it; cousins kissing more passionately than Arkansas newlyweds.

2 It is. Most of the work is done by adjuncts who get little pay while the full professors loaf about and do "research" which usually amounts to some sort of Leftist shenanigans. it's a sweetheart deal if you can get on the inside - but you have to be a true believer to get there. My brother has spent years on the fringes, and that only because he never hid his conservative views and he gets blackballed when positions open. He knows it too; he saw his file at McKendree University and it was full of lies about him, saying he had no published works (he had three books at the time) and otherwise downplaying his credentials so they could hire a woman. The finalists were a woman who wrote a cookbook and a woman who wrote about lesbians in the pioneer era.

THAT is what passes for scholarship these days.

Oh, and the one selected didn't have a Ph.D.
