The Big Lie in America

Timothy Birdnow

During WWII the OSS worked up a psychological profile of Hitler. They had this to say about his approach to lying:

His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.

This comports with a quote attributed to Joseph Goebbles:

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Doesn't this sound exactly like modern America? In modern America the Left never lets the public cool off, but always has some new crisis or emergency. They never admit fault despite the fact most of their programs have failed spectacularly and made things worse. They portray conservatives as evil incarnate. And they go really, really big with their lies - like the Russian collusion hoax against Trump.

When viewed from this perspective it's obvious the Left is very much in line with Naziism.

If you look at how they treated Trump over the term of his Presidency you see all of this in action. They claimed Trump colluded with the Russians to steal the election. They claimed Trump threatened the Ukrainians to make them indict Biden's son. They claimed he incited an "insurrection" when all he did was hold a rally and accuse the Democrats (correctly and with ample evidence) of stealing the election.

And always it is endless repetition of a simple shibboleth. "Bush lied people died" or "flatten the curve" or "racist" until the public believes whatever crap they are peddling.

"Climate change" is one great example; they've pushed this for a generation now. The Covid panic is another.

Of course this all comports with Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. Alinsky merely took the Nazi playbook and applied it to a more contemporary audience and formalized it.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were both devotees of Alinsky.

None of this works without the media; you can't repeat a lie if you don't have the outlet. And this cuts both ways, as Big Tech is now censoring Conservatives, stopping them from showing this IS a Big Lie. It is an attempt to restore the old control the Left had when there were just a few television networks and key newspapers. They were furious they lost this to talk radio and the internet, but now they pretty much have it back.

We now live in a Fascist state.

1 The media are not totally in lockstep -- there's Fox News, Newsmax and One America News. It's just that you have to have cable to access these, and that's too difficult -- like getting ID cards for voting.

Seriously, you can't control what people watch (not yet, anyhow) and if people watch -- and believe -- the pig slop they get on MSNBC, CNN and PBS, there's little you can do about it. Rush Limbaugh used to bemoan the fact that he hadn't convinced more people about conservatism, where the real issue was that too many people didn't listen to his show.

You can lead a horse to water -- or perhaps more accurately for our argument, you can show a horse where the water is. But...

2 I agree Dana. Look at the ignorance of people despite the internet, for example. Now it's hard to find good information online, but it didn't used to be but everyone just did a Google search and read page one and that was that; never any effort to see the other side of the story.

Now Google suppresses the other side of the story and you can no longer find the information. You might if you go to Duck Duck Go but how many people will bother?

Sloth is one of the Seven Deadly Sins and America is swimming in it.
