The Assassination of Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and pundit and activist, has been assassinated.
Kirk was shot in the jugular by an assailant with a high powered rifle hidden in a huge crowd at Utah State University. He is survived by his wife and children.
While there is a person in custody the police have yet to say if this person is the actual assassin. Tips to police are most welcome.
Charlie was huge in flipping the youth vote to the Republicans and MAGA as he specialized in outreach to Millenials and Gen. Z and was very effective at that. A devout Evangelical Christtian, Charlie was a happy warrior, tempering his political warfare with Christian patience and love. He will be missed.
It's obvious he was targeted for being so effective.
Democrats immediately attacked Mr. Kirk, saying it was his "hateful rhetoric" and "racism" that brought this on him. Anyone who has ever heard Charlie knows this is beyond a revolting accusation; the man was a gentle and kind soul, as everyone agrees.
J.B.Pritzker said Charlie brought it on himself and that J6 and Trump and political dissent BY THE RIGHT have turned up the political temperature, leading to this violcence. Pritzker forgets the TWO assassination attempts on Trump, or the assault on Rand Paul, or the attack on the GOP practicing for the House softball game (and hitting Steve Scalise) or any of a host of other political attacks.They've used violence for a long time against us. It has been an asymmetric war. Remember the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan? On Pope St. John Paul II?
Police say the assailant was dressed in black clothing and shooting from a roof. The fact he knew where the vulnerable point was going to be, and that he got into position with weaponry capable of pulling this off, lead me to wonder if it was not a spook. Certainly the CIA would not shrink from doing such a hit; it wouldn't fall under the auspices of the Secret Service and losing Charlie could kill the rising youth vote. It also may make conservatives timid. This had enormous benefits to the Ruling Class.
Maybe, maybe not. But I can see where this would be an attractive proposition for the same people who tried to destroy Donald J. Trump and who may well have been involved with the assassination attempt on Mr. Trump.
Any way you slice it the Left is the ones full of hatred and who want to silence us. A number of years ago there was a book written by a conservative that said "not evil, just wrong" but I think everyone should be disabused of that now. The Left wants to MURDER us, not just win elections. They are full of hate.
And that hatred comes from their hatred of God and His followers. Charlie was a devout man who openlydebated the Left - and won. That is the kind of man Leftists want dead.
Unfortunately a lot of Republicans are now saying we shouldn't pursue this and punish it. But that is exactly what we need to do. You cannot let a bully pummel you or they will be encouraged to beat you all the more.
We need to be angry now. Cool detachment or Christian mercy is fine but not now. This is a time of war and we need to make sure nobody ever does this again.
If we let them get away with this they will do it again and again. We can't have another Ryan Routhe situation where nobody speaks to the perp. This needs to be kept in our collective consciousness and we need to hunt down anyone who may have had anything to do with it. And we need to shame and mock anyone who tries to blame this on the victim.
Communists have long used such violence to disspirit their enemies and bully people into silence. Readers of The Aviary knew this was coming. They want a civil war.
Good luck with that; we own the counttryside, we own the water and the power transmission sites. We have the guns and the knowledge of how to use them. We are in a far better position to defend ourselves than are they. When the Communists took over China they were in the same position as we are right now and Chiang Kai Shek was bottled up in the cities like the Left is now. We will win if it comes to actual war.
They own the media but the media can't control information like they used to and we can show people what is happening. Also, they have jumped the shark with Covid and with a host of other things (like the BLM riots) and people don't trust the media any longer.
At any rate Charlie was 31 years old. He is survived by his wife Erica and his 2 young children. Please pray for his soul, and for his family. His children who willbe scarred for life by this.
(A personal note; I've often heard how people remember where they were when John F. Kennedy was assassinated and it will be so for me with Charlie; it hit me like an electric shock when I saw the story on Fox News this afternoon.)
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him.
It may be this will metastasize and lead to many versions of Charlie coming forward, much as the death of Andrew Breitbart did a number of years ago. It is in the hand of God.

I'm with you on this, Tim. We can't climb into bed and pull the covers over our heads! I have no idea who can take over the reins for Charlie (one possible candidate is Ben Shapiro, although Ben doesn't have Charlie's joie de vivre and charm). Charlie was unmatched at connecting with college-aged people, and I can't think of anyone else who can do that. I can only hope that just means there is someone out there whom I just haven't heard about yet.
I hope they catch this perp soon -- they had not as-of midnight CDT -- and when they do, may I be forgiven for hoping they rough him up a bit, or a lot? IIRC, when John Wilkes Booth was finally caught, they didn't exactly coddle him.

Amen Dana! We need to go all the harder now. Go after the Left and their hateful rhteoric and put the blame squarely where it belongs - on them.
Ben Shapiro couldn't do what Kirk did. He's basically a young Woody Allen with pretensions of being an intellectual. Kirk was a common man-type youth who understood the Gen. Z crowd. We need that, rather desperately , which I am sure is why he was targeted.
I hope that we wind up with dozens of Charrlie Kirks. Just like when Andrew Breitbart died and a bunch of people rose to take his place (and I often have wondered if Breitbart wasn't poisoned) so too we must hope a dozen people rise to take Kirks. He influenced a generation and hopefully someone will carry on his work.
I think the fact they are now trying to assassinate conservative activists illustrates we are winning; they are increasingly desperate. This is a high-stakes act because it could drive Americans into the arms of conservatives even more and they have to know it. This is about winning the next election and little more; they needed Kirk out of the way so they can win back the youth vote and restore their drive to the communist utopia which they saw in their grasp.
I predict after the next election, especially if the GOP holds the House and Senate, there will be blood, much blood. These people will stop at nothing "by any means necessary".
This could be the opening salvo of an American civil war.
I regret that but the aggressor sets the rules of engagement and this is the path they have chosen.

I think you're selling Ben Shapiro short, but I agree that it would take him a lot of practice to do what Charlie Kirk did. And I agree that we got a number of Andrew Breitbarts after the original died, but that was a different line of work. What he did can be taught. What Charlie Kirk did comes from the heart. I doubt there will be another Charlie Kirk, just as there has not been another Rush Limbaugh.
The fact that the left is having to resort to violence is a clear admission that they can't win hearts the way Charlie did. If they have to resort to establishing their program at the point of a gun, well, isn't that the way Communism is established or at least maintained?

I don't think Timothy is selling Shapiro short. Shapiro is more clever than he is smart; more filled with ideology than with intellect. I don't think Charlie Kirk's killer should get the death sentence - takes too long. He should be shot to death when found.

I agree with you Bill. I've never been that impressed with Shapiro. He speaks fast and people mistake that for intellect,but often his arguments aren't that good, and his reasoning not that sound.

Well, the killer was turned over to the authorities by his own father, so that precludes "sticking a pin in him" (to use one of my favorite expressions). I am hearing the death penalty mentioned a lot, and I think he deserves it. As Our Mr. Trump is fond of saying, "I think we'll have to see what happens." Or words to that effect.
