Our Governor has gone power-mad. There's no longer any emergency in California. No hospitals jammed with COVID cases. So he's issued Thanksgiving guidelines via the Department of Public Health. Well, actually for any gatherings, viz:
"It applies to private gatherings, and all other gatherings not covered by existing sector guidance are prohibited. Gatherings are defined as social situations that bring together people from different households at the same time in a single space or place."
Now, you'd suspect that would apply to homeless camps 24/7. You'd also think that would make demonstrations and street riots "prohibited". However, neither of those is true. Rioting and protesting for any woke cause apparently makes COVID transmission impossible. But not for you and your family!
Anyhow ... here are the new regs. They are "Mandatory Guidance" with which we "must comply".
1. You can't more than 3 households at your gathering, including your
own. (Our Thanksgivings generally have five or six households.)
2. You should make a list of all attendees and their contact information in case the Gov't needs it.
3. Has to be outdoors.
4. Your guests may go into your house to use the bathroom as long as
you clean and sanitize it frequently. But they can only stay inside
briefly.
5. Any shade structure must be open on at least 3 sides.
6. Your seats must be at least 6' apart in all directions, front/back as well as side/side.
7. You have to provide a handwashing or sanitizing station for your guests. Guests should wash their hands frequently.
8. You should only use single-serving food. No potato salad.
9. You need a designated server if you must serve out of one dish. Guests may not help themselves.
10. The designated person who is allowed to serve you must wash or sanitize their hands frequently and wear a face covering.
11. Everyone must wear a face covering at all times, except briefly
while you eat, or if you need to use an inhaler or for other urgent
medical needs. Put your mask back on between bites.
12. 2 hours or less is the limit. Mandatory. Must comply.
13. You are advised against singing or chanting.
