Tensions Rising with Russia

Timothy Birdnow

It looks like the trump Administration is going to supply advanced weaponry to Ukraine as a counterweight to Russian aggression.

According to Itar-Tass:

"The U.S. Administration has taken a decision to supply advanced defensive systems to Ukraine as part of Washington’s efforts to build up the long-term defense capability of the Ukrainian government, the Department of State spokesperson Heather Nauert said on Friday.

"The United States has decided to provide Ukraine enhanced defensive capabilities as part of our effort to help Ukraine build its long-term defense capacity, to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to deter further aggression," Nauert said.

"U.S. assistance is entirely defensive in nature, and as we have always said, Ukraine is a sovereign country and has a right to defend itself," she claimed. "The United States remains committed to the Minsk agreements as the way forward in eastern Ukraine.""

End excerpt.

Strange how the U.S. media fails to report on this sort of thing, which is serious indeed. Our supplying arms to Ukraine is seen by the Russians as an act of aggression, and means we have an escalating tension between our two nations. Remember, Russia has a much newer nuclear arsenal than ours.

Also, this demolishes the meme that Trump is somehow an "asset" of the Russians. How many aassets threaten to give weapons to their employers enemy?

The article continues:

"ABC News said previously President Trump was expected to endorse a plan envisioning supplies of antitank equipment worth $47 million to the Ukrainian authorities.

The list of weapons to be consigned to Ukraine might include the Javelin antitank complexes."

End excerpt.

This is something that could lead to a renewed arms race. It is no doubt necessary, as Russia has become increasingly aggressive and must be held in check. I don't know why the American media thinks "Russian collusion" stories are important when we have real issues at stake.

Well, actually I do.

By the way, the Russian Federation did a major upgrade[/linl] on her ICBM arsenal.
