Whatever you think of #Fauci he’s going to step down after heading a major national U.S. government agency after 39 years, that is, 2 years longer than J Edgar Hoover was head of the FBI.

You are correct. Also signs of an unhealthy republic are legislators in office for 60-70 years, serving at an age when they cannot walk unassisted.

So very true Bill. The Founders assumed most House members would serve one or two terms and then go home, and most Senators would serve one or at most two terms and then not be reappointed by their own states. Direct election of Senators created the permanent dynasties in that body.
We need term limits on all of them - if for no other reason than to prevent these people from becoming citadels of corruption as they can dig their tendrils deep into the system in all those decades.

Indeed, Timothy. Term limits would also eliminate about 90% (or more) of all corporate campaign contributions.

Agreed Bill, and I agree with Dana, a worthy comment. We don't need complicated "campaign finance reform" - just term limit these jerks and the money will stop flooding in.
