thought this was Minnesota I lived in, but apparently I was wrong.
During the night recently, I must have been transported to Saudi Arabia,
or perhaps Somalia. Can't say I'm all that happy about it!
Animal sacrifice! Tell me what you think are the chances of that
happening if Christians or Jews practiced that, and we had a big
celebration in a stadium that can, and did, host a Super Bowl?

Dana,
I wouldn't be too thrilled with it, either. But I'll
tell you that Orthodox Jews have an animal sacrifice of a chicken. And
Sephardic Jews, particularly in Israel, sacrifice a goat or lamb at
Passover in a big public event.
I once got on a bus in Northern Israel near my
cousin's home that went to Akko (Acre, in English), a town with a large
Arab population. Some Arab woman got on the bus with a live chicken in a
flexible plastic basket. The chicken rode quietly all the way to Akko.
