This is an old explanation going back to 2010 but it's still valid. The logarithmic nature of carbon dioxide in absorbing and reradiating energy saturates the bandwidth and by two degrees the whole thing craps out. Suck on that warmiacs!

Abstract

There was an overwhelming scientific consensus in the 1970s that the Earth was heading into a period of significant cooling. The possibility of anthropogenic warming was relegated to a minority of the papers in the peer-reviewed literature.
