Still No Answers for Babbitt

Willis Eschenbach asks:

Aaron Babbitt, the widower of Ashli Babbitt (murdered by Capitol Police on Jan. 6) still has no idea who killed his wife or why, 22 weeks after her death.

How can this be happening? This is third-world totalitarian secret police vileness, brought to you by 10% Joe Biden and every single Democrat who voted for him.

I find it totally unbelievable that in this country, "land of the free", the Democrats have set it up so that you can be shot to death by a government employee & no one will tell you who did it or why. How can that be?

Vote them out in 2022, root and branch.

1 And in 2024, 2026, 2028... That may help, but the real problem is the un-elected bureaucrats who actually run the country. And as far as I know, there's no legal way to get rid of them -- if you know what I'm saying.

2 We should never have allowed the bureaucracy  to become permanent. It made a fourth branch of government.

3 Agreed, except how can the bureaucracy be prevented from being established? On a certain level, some of it is needed. But it becomes like cockroaches; it burrows in everywhere.

4 Dana, it used to be most of the bureaucracy was patronage; you lost your job when the administration you served was turned out. This made for corruption to some degree, but it was better because you didn't have a permanent bureaucratic class. Now with a "professional" bureaucracy we have a huge segment that votes solidly for Democrats and who work against the wishes of the American People on a regular basis - and even against their own bosses, who are powerless to remove them.

I remember in the early days of the pandemic when Trump gave the no-entry order from China; a bureaucrat simply ignored Trump and let a bunch of Chinese in anyway. The guy was an Obama appointee. I had a big fight with a liberal who blamed Trump for this! I tried to point out that Trump was powerless to stop this order because he couldn't fire the jackass and of course that was met with a sneer. But it's why we are in the pickle we are in, in no small measure.

That is why the Founding Fathers wanted a limited Executive Branch. In fact, there was an argument about even having a Cabinet in the early days. They rightly understood that a powerful Executive Branch meant the potential for tyranny. They were right.

5 And of course when they unionized the Federal bureaucracy in the '70's they built in a permanent ruling class. The Democrats knew that was what they were doing too.

6 For all the good unions did, and still do, they also deliver a great deal of harm. It used to be accepted that public sector unions were a bad idea; George Meany and FDR were against them all the way.
