wo professors are warning in a new book that TV shows like The Big Bang Theory are emblematic of a worrying trend they call "toxic geek masculinity.” The new book Toxic Geek Masculinity in Media: Sexism, Trolling, and Identity Politics was written by Bridget Blodgett, a professor at the University of Maryland, and Anastasia Salter, who teaches classes on digital culture at the University of Central Florida."The characters are deeply lacking in self-awareness regarding their roles in a sexist workplace, and this same lack of understanding is constantly played for humor." Though computer geeks are often depicted as marginalized due to their social exclusion, Blodgett and Salter argue that the opposite is actually true, asserting that geeks are aligned "with a type of toxic straight white masculinity that is rooted deeply in current cultural struggles.”

This from Tim: Considering the fact that the Big Bang Theory is abotu geeky men who are usually pushed around by the women in their lives one has to wonder at the disconnection from reality that these obsessors, er, professors manifest. They are so taken with the absolute conviction that they and other women are mistreated that they can't see the basics of this show, which is that teh women actually rule. By any sort of rational definition these women and those who think like her are quite insane.

I hate to rain on their Mad Hatter parade, but the fact of the matter is "toxic masculinity" is what made it possible for these women to publicly spout such ridiculous nonsense. Only in the West are women free enough to do this. That is because toxic white heterosexual males GAVE them the power to do so. It was the toxic white male who made the world safe for feminist man hating. It was the toxic white male who voluntarily allowed women into the workplace, into fields traditionally held by men, into college professorships where they could corrupt young women and ruin their lives by making them angry and bitter and resentful. This didn't happen in China, or India, or the Islamic world, or Latin America or subSaharan Africa - it happened in Europe and Anglo-America, and that was because of the culture spawned by those "toxic white males". Chivalry gave women special protections, allowed them to say what they thought and not be beaten or abused for it. Respect for women is a Western virtue, and it was this respect that was used by the feminists to emasculate men. Men went along with it because they believed it the decent thing to do. Feminists have been mistreating men for a long time, and hiding behind their sex like the cowards that they are.

The battle of the sexes was always idiotic, and it is reaching a brutal stage. Why? Because oa bunch of bratty little girls who never grew up are now in positions like these two, influencing the minds of other bratty little girls. The fact is, feminists are people who never grew up, not got over not being daddy's little girl to the whole world.

Just as prisons are full of rotten little boys who grew large and physically strong but never grew up emotionally, so feminism and universities are full of their feminine counterparts.

It's time to grow up.
