Damond called the police to report a possible assault down the alley behind her home.
Mohamed was the first Somali officer in his precinct.
Damond was shot and killed while wearing her pajamas and speaking to another police officer after calling 911 to report a possible assault in an alley behind her home on July 15, reports The Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Noor’s partner was described as "stunned†by the shooting.
CBS Minneapolis reported that Damond "made the 911 call and was speaking to police officers Saturday night. They were near the alley when the officer in the passenger seat reached across and shot her. A cell phone was found near Damond’s body.â€

The Victim, an Australian woman, was well known in the community as a yoga instructor. To their credit, Black lives Matter activists showed up to protest her killing.According to NPR.
The victim was from Australia.
So what is the takeaway? Well, increasing the number of minorites on the police force doesn't magically reduce police shootings, for one thing. Second, I don't think we have adequate information with this; was the police officer somehow justified in shooting? Was it about race? Religion? I don't know; we need more information.
One thing I do know is that the media isn't too worked up about this. If they were fair and balanced they would report this as breathlessly as they reported Mike Brown or any of the other shootings that inflamed the black community over the last few years.
