Solar Power Shut Down on Account of Snow

Timothy Birdnow

Solar Power is down on account of snow.

"In Germany, millions of solar panels are blanketed in snow and 30,000 wind turbines are sitting idle because there’s no wind.”

It's not just in Germany. I imagine here in Missouri solar power is kaput.

BTW they just announced rolling blackouts are coming here thanks to the snow and cold. I can't blame that on "renewables" exactly but I suspect it's the case.

Ameren U.E. brags:

"Ameren Missouri built the state's largest investor-owned solar energy center in O'Fallon, Mo. Featuring more than 19,000 solar panels, the O'Fallon Renewable Energy Center generates 5.7 MW of electricity. Ameren has been evaluating the effectiveness and efficiencies of various solar power systems in our bi-state area."

They've also committed to wind power and other "renewables". https://www.nrdc.org/experts/ashok-gupta/ameren-missouris-future-clean-energy

If they had stuck with gas or coal power plants (or the truly carbon-neutral nuclear) would we be facing power outages when the temperatures rival those in Siberia?

There is blood on the hands of the global warming Nazis. People are going to die from this.

1 We had similar problems in Central Minnesota last winter. It's a fact that meteorologists are well aware of (but that the climate Nazis aren't) is that when the temperature plummets, the wind seldom blows. Even if the turbines are not iced up, if there's no wind, they don't turn. When it's really cold, it doesn't snow much, but if the solar panels are already covered with snow, or if it's cloudy, they don't produce much either.

2 Hailstorms create quite an issue as well. At least snow melts when it gets warm. The effect of a hailstorm not so much.

3 Dana, the Arctic is notorious for the "Arctic Dome" where cold air remains stagnant and wind doesn't blow. Really cold weather means no wind mills turning and so no electricity. It's amazing they ignore this simple fact. And, as you say, snow still covers the stupid solar panels. Shoot; I had trouble getting frozen ice off my windshield yesterday morning. Imagine that over giant solar panels!

Excellent point Bill! How much damage is done by hail to those expensive and environmentally damaging to replace solar panels?
